This is a great old child's or doll's trunk that I have been using as a storage piece. It is a domed or camel hump back top. With wooden ribs. There are are black metal bands with brads across the top, corners& sides. The think wooden ribs arch across the top and around the center circumference of the trunk. The inner structure of the trunk is wood with metal overlay- probably steel. The steel has been faux treated to given a bronzed/copper look. It is original to the trunk, not added. Some scratches on the surface. The original paper trays are inside with some decals. There is a little hook which allows you to open and close the inner"door" images 3& 4. The bottom is wood. There are 4 tiny little metal rollers on the bottom to slide the trunk. The trunk measures 12-1/4" high to the domed top. 10-3/4" deep, ... more18" wide. There is some overall wear very typical of the age and it's use and was definitely used by children. It is missing the lock latch. This piece has true character with age appropriate wear. Somewhere all the road someone lined it with old wall paper. That paper is also old as there are areas where it is coming off and very worn. It would make a nice project for someone to re line the inside with different vintage paper. There are many old age cracks and repairs. Up for auction is this lovely trunk. This one is made of camphor wood and is fully carved on all sides. It is very shabby chic in style painted a creamy white. This is a great large size measuring 90cm x 44cm and standing 54cm high. It is all in very good condition and could be used immediately. Great to use for extra storage or as a coffee table. Korean late Joseon Dynasty Zelkova wood coin money box This is a beautiful antique Korean coin storage chest. Which dates to the late Joseon Dynasty. It was hand made from solid zelkova wood, and has hand wrought iron mounts. This chest measures about 42 1/4" long, by 17 1/2" deep, and 16.1/2 inches high, and sits on shoe feet. The hinged lid is a single board 11 inches deep. This chest is in very good original condition with a couple shrinkage cracks, and minor warping to the lid, which is typical of chest from this period. Original lock without key. Hello. Here pictured is an antique barrel-top steamer trunk. Measures approx. 37" across. 21.5" back-to-front, and 25" high(from base to top of barrel arch) Made of vertical slats(approx. 1.75" wide) Has a compartment inside the lid. Two(2) Railway Express Co. stickers grace one end. Casters(original, I believe) on bottom. The amber glass coasters seen in the photos are NOT the casters; the amber glass coasters are there just to keep the trunk off the rug, but you can have them, if you like) One leather strap is missing; the remaining one is intact, but split. Antique American Leather over Wood Society Trunk - Late 1800s
Offered- An outstanding Leather over Wood Society Trunk. The trunk is in extremely good condition- with just a couple of minor flaws. The trunk measures 18 inches across- 10 inches wide- and stands 11 1/2 inches tall. Trunks of this nature were widely used during the Victorian era- to hold Society Hats and other paraphernalia associated with that particular Society. This trunk is marked: photo#10) G.O. Gordon Lodi. Wis. Robert Macoy(Cross- 3- Period) I do not know which Society the Cross and 3 represent. The interior of the trunk is Cedar Wood. There is a form to hold the Society Hat- and a drop down inner lid to hold other accessories. There are a couple of cracks in the Cedar lining. There is a label on the inner lid that reads: The M. C. Lilly Company Manufacturers of Military and Society Goods Columbus. Ohio There is also a silver colored ... moreplaque over the lock with the above manufacture noted. The leather on this trunk is a beautiful Amber/Medium Brown color- with a darker brown outline. The stitching is perfect and all of the rivets are 100% intact. There are very heavy duty Black Metal Hinges with a patent date of 1866. The leather is in very good condition- as the photos reflect- with scuffing and/or scraping commensurate with age. The silver colored lock is fully intact however I do not have the key. The lock is marked: Pat. April 1877(Over 2 Stars) The leather handle is perfect. As is the case with trunks of this nature- the straps that connect to the buckles on the front are used and very fragile. They are intact but do have breaks. I have taped the backs for stability. Also- the left front leather loop that holds the top leather strap in place is missing- please see Photo#9. This is a very nice item- I have a couple of these trunks in my personal collection and they are great for storage- perfect for fragile Christmas Decoration. The pattern involves stars and other geometric shapes and some carvings that resemble birds and it is in very good condition. Patina is beautiful and finish is original. The base is an interesting combination of incised lines and inlaid mother of pearl stars on a reticulated base. It is all hand dovetailed. Antique Doll Trunk 19th C. Camel Back Metal & Wood Charming
Selling is the sweetest antique doll trunk with a domed lid. The trunk measures 16" long. 9 3/4" wide and 12" tall to the dome top. The trunk is made of wood with wood ribs on the outside of the trunk. The trunk is covered with a textured silver tin that is showing some darkening with age. There are metal straps with a black finish on the edges of the trunk and they are held in with small rivets. There are 2 clasps that hold the lid down that look like cast iron. The clasps are marked"Pat. Jul 9 72" The center clasp is brass, although it is old this looks like it was replaced at some time in the past. This is an awesome unusual definitely unique steamer trunk most likely for a girl to keep her doll clothes in. There is an upper wood tray covered in paper that sits on an inner ledge. The inside of lid is lined with a nice royal blue paper. It definitely has a bit of that musty antique smell that says this piece is old. The Lock has the words Eagle Lock Terryville CT which definitely shows the age and quality of the piece and US made. The trunk is made from wood. With metal strapping, nice metal corner hardware and worn leather straps. The trimming is in Faux grained metal in shades of red and yellow. I haven't seen a trunk like this one online or on ebay. Wonderful antique wooden storage trunk made by B. C. Sweetser& Sons of Portsmouth. N.H. in 1875. We were able to date the trunk as it originally was lined with old newspaper dated June 1875. The newspaper was removed as it was heavily water stained, torn, brittle and musty. We were able to save the original manufacturer label in the center of the interior of the lid. Interior is now clean and can be used to store items. The exterior is original(not refinished, only cleaned) with a warm dark wood patina; original lock(no key) and iron handles. Dome style lid. Original brass tacks on exterior. Solid original bottom. Great trunk for the collector! Measures 28 inches by 15 inches; 12 inches tall on the sides. The sale was for a collector's estate whom had acquired many Egyptian pieces as well as clocks and musical instruments. I was fortunate enough to get some of them to offer to the eBay community. Another party whom knows more than I attributed this vintage piece to being Syrian made as they said Egyptian pieces do not normally have the inlay. So. You be the judge as to country of origination. It is one of 3 trunks that were described as nesting trunks at the estate auction. This listing is for the sale of the largest size Egyptian trunk that I acquired. The medium and small ones do not fit inside this largest trunk(the two smaller one are for sale ... morein my store separately- see listings# 111064094911 and 121104042526) Only the large size trunk of these 3 trunks is for sale in this listing. The one noted in the pics and described in this listing by size. Not sure of the age of this piece. Do not think it is an antique, but definitely is vintage in nature. The craftsmanship on this piece is pretty amazing. Check out the banding that was done. The different color finishes and of course the inlay work that has been done here. The silver starred pieces appear to be some material similar to a mother of pearl, but not certainly exactly what it is. A lot of the inlay appears to be some sort of wood as well. Most of the inlay is still on the trunk. The brass hinges are still in good order. The four corners of the trunk have scrolled columns. The wood trunk has been treated well over the years. There are two areas inside of the trunk that have hinged access areas. The wood trunk is 36.5" long. By 26" wide, by 24.5" tall. I see no cracks, splits or repairs to report.
