The trunk itself is in good condition, structurally, although I am unsure of its actual age. The trunk has gotton wet at some point, and the moisture damage and staining goes all the way through to the inside of the trunk. The covering on the outside of the trunk is worn, torn, and coming off in this area as well. The trunk has a hinged lid, and the original lining is still inside the bottom portion of the trunk. The trunk is made of wood, with a nice olive green covering that is mainly intact, except for the aforementioned area, and metal reinforced seams.

Antique primitive hand painted and decorated chest. It comes from Bergen County. New Jersey. It was in the Vander Plaat House which was once known as the Vanderbeck House. The chest is from the 1800's. It was decorated at a later date. It has green paint, metal panels, flowers, leaves, studs and mirrors. It is 35" long, 19 1/2" wide, and 20 1/2" high. There is some writing on the back of the chest(see pictures) and a sort of design on the inside of the lid. It has metal handles, and mounts. The chest has cracks on the lid and wear, but is sturdy. Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather ... morehandles on either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Small Vintage Black Leather and Wood Trunk. I believe it is real leather/cow hide. It has a tag in almost immaculate condition on the inside of the lid that says Warren Leather Goods Co. Worcester Mass. The outside is black. The leather is not tight to the wood and slightly wavy in some spots. There is some blotchiness, evidence of stickers and wear to the finish. There is a"T" inside of a diamond painted on in red on both sides of the trunk. It has only a few wear holes on the edges that are 1" in diameter where the leather is doubled and a few spots along the corners on the inside where it is bare. There is evidence of a strap that went across the top that is now missing. The carrying strap is missing an end and the stitching has come a loose on its edges. There are metal bars on the top four corners, two flat hinges and ... morewhat looks like a pin hinge in the center of the two hinges along the back side. There are two latches on either side and a key latch in the middle on the front, which I do not have the key for, so I did not test it. The hinges, latches, strap holders and rivets are metal and show wear, rust and have normal discoloration from iage. On the inside there is a cloth lining that shows wear, some staining/yellowing with age and is coming loose in a couple of spots. An amazing vintage piece ideal for storage and display. The doll trunk was acquired from the estate of a doll collector and it is in good clean, antique condition. The lid has metal brackets, trim and latches. The exterior of the trunk is covered with a faux wood and metal trim pattern paper. The interior and the tray are covered in a yellow floral pattern paper. A lid on the tray compartment has a picture of a Victorian woman. The tray has an open compartment. Too(no nail holes or other indication that there was ever a lid on this side) The trunk is 14" long x 8" wide x 10" tall. The paper cover on the exterior has darkened with age and there are some cracks and chips in the paper cover. The burlap straps on the tray are missing. The ... morelid's hinge section(burlap and metal? on the back of the trunk is missing. The paper decoration on the interior has some bubbling, tears/cracks and chips. There's a horizontal tear in the paper on the inside of the lid along the wood seam line of the wood lid. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The table is their"Box on Stand" design and is of their"Venetian Stone" line of finishes. It features a textural, layered, golden faux stone finish with colors of cream and brown incorporated. The table is box shaped with long, distressed, hammered brass handles on each end. Wooden knobs attach to the brass handles and they are finished in the"Giraffe wood" pattern. The short legs and feet are also comprised of these brass and wood elements. The table is a composite. It is quite stunning with Old World character. There is a brass manufacturer's label attached. Very unusual domed Trunk Treasure Chest that sits on its own metal stand that has paw feet The trunk can remove from stand as shown and be used separately The basic chest is constructed of wood that has been painted however the front and top are encased in sheets of embossed metal. Pictures of angels in a garden setting on each side of the top bands of studded strapping decorate the top of the piece. The metal sheeting has darkened with age it appears it may be copper underneath the patina however we did not clean further but left as it was when purchased at an estate sale The chest is lined in a wine colored plush velvet material in good vintage condition.
