They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. This doll chest is in good condition. It has definate aged appearance and patina. There are two areas on the inside where the wood is split to the outside(one on the top and one on the inside backing) scratches and faded areas of original black decorative decor. The bottom has a couple nails sticking out. There is rusting on the decorative brass fixtures. There is some fraying of the wood in various areas and some holes that do not protrude to the outside of the box. There are handles on either side of the box. It appears that the tray and handles were added and are not original to the chest. Very nice and decorative detail and appeal. Inside original interior paper is mostly gone. Measures 18" wide x 10 1/2" high x 7 1/2" deep on the inside with removal of the wooden tray. There is no lock for this trunk. Two beautiful handles on either side. Has wonderful metal features and attachments. Opens to a interior tray. Plenty of room. Color: Brown. Fantastic primitive appeal. GIGANTIC Oversized Antique 1800s Wood Hat Storage Box - Stagecoach Trunk
Rare GIGANTIC oversized antique wood ladies' hatbox or storage trunk. I'm guessing this dates from the days when ladies' hats were at their largest. From about 1880-1910. There is a stamp inside the lid which is in a different language. There are a couple of extremely old labels affixed to the outside of box but they are obliterated from age. The huge box spans an impressive 20" across and stands 10-1/2" high. Very good condition for the age with normal aging(see photos) It looks like there was a strap on the box at one time but it is long gone. Thanks for looking!

FAB 1950s NAUTICAL 3D SHIPS HUGE 17+" W Brass Covered Wood CHEST TRUNK ENGLAND!
This is a BEAUTIFUL HUGE 1950's Nautical design Brass covered wood box with a hinged lid made in England! The brass covering has a GREAT patina and is on three sides and the lid! It has a 3 DIMENSIONAL design with a large sailing ship and two smaller ones and is the same on the lid as on the front of the box. The sides have a pretty design too. It is not marked by the maker but these were done(as well as magazine holders) in various 3 dimensional designs by the Lombard Company. England in the 1950's. It measures 11 3/8" tall, 17 1/4" wide and 10 5/8" deep. Heavy and nicely made. Good condition with only a little discoloration on the corner of the lid(please see close up last two photos) and some on the sides but not bad. The wood is in great condition and it has two"feet" too. I also have two magazine holders ... moreonly with other designs that are GREAT! These are WONDERFUL for a variety of things like magazines. This sleeping treasure went unnoticed by my family for over 40 years because of it's worn leather exterior; we never even noticed the Louis Vuitton markings on the brass latches. This was my grandfather's trunk. And currently bears his initials I.W.H on one side. As far as we know, he was the second owner. I made an e-mail inquiry to the Louis Vuitton Patrimonie department, and they responded in writing: According to our files and your photographs, your trunk with the inside number 152686 might be a trunk sold in 1907. My grandfather was stationed in France during WWI, but I am not sure if he acquired it there. The original monogram ... moreon the other side has been mostly removed, but the outline is still legible and looks like: J.F.T What makes this trunk special is the presence of all of the original details. From what I have seen. Wonderful patina and full of character! This old wood box measures about 14" wide. 7-1/2" tall and 7-1/2" deep. The hand made hardware is just great. Clearly, the 2 brass hinges on the back are not original, and a repair has been made in one of the hinge areas. Also, it looks like part of the front right medallion might be missing. Not much known about this relic. It was purchased at an estate sale in Scottsdale, Az. Please take your time viewing and enlarging the photos as they are an important part of the description. For your bidding consideration today. We have a rare antique child or doll size antique steamer trunk, just like the big ones! The trunk is made of wood, with a tweed looking covering on the outside. This trunk stands up like the larger ones,with drawers on one side, and the opposite side has the lift top,with a hanging bar underneath. It has a center lock, and two side closures. The center lock is marked USA EXCELSIOR STANFORD CONN. The drawers have wood sides, and I think heavy cardboard on the front, back and bottom. They have a leather pull on each drawer. It is rare to see a trunk made this way in this size. The piece measures 22" tall, and 10.5" wide and deep. There are some spots, on the bottom if you had the piece standing up, on the outside and inside, maybe water damage, I don't know. There is scattered spots on the ... morehe outside, and I have not attempted to clean them. There is some rust on the hinges, and bumped corners that show the wood, and the leather handle at the top is missing. All in all, a very nice collectible that would be great in a children's room, or could be used for a doll display. It weighs almost 10 pounds before packing. This sale is for a domed top wood travel steamer trunk from the 1800s. The trunk is sturdy and in good condition. The outside appears to be original and not refinished etc. It has the travel decals with dates and ports. It left from Wales England and arrived in Boston Mass in the usa. They traveled on A Cunard ship which apparently is still a company today. It has only one metal handle. The inside has been painted. It is large at approx. 33" long 22" wide and 24" tall. Domed top trunk measures 20.5" x 11.5" x 12" As you can see. The wear on this piece is pretty extreme.that's what makes it so prim perfect! The photos provide the best description as far as the paint finish goes. The remaining blue/cream paint is very dry and will flake off a bit if not handled carefully. All of the metal hardware is original and secure. The"u" shaped fitting for threading a lock on the receiver plate is slightly loose but still intact. There are only a few remnants of paper that once lined the interior. Considering age. Wood is in good condition, there are typical dings, chips, etc. Some of the nails at the corners ... moreare slightly exposed due to the wood wearing away.
