Moritz Madler Co. of Leipzig. Germany was the largest trunk maker in Germany and patented this trunk style with the narrow wood slats and canvas covered wood body. 39" x 22" x 18. Has the owner's initials, H.B.G. printed on the top. Exterior is varnished canvas with a great patina. Interior is white canvas, all intact. Four canvas straps have MADLER embroidered on them. Corners have brackets for an interior shelf(not present) CONDITION: Please see photographs. I actually salvaged this one last week from the side of the road. It had been rained on the night before. So there is some water staining of the interior canvas, and it has a slightly musty smell that has improved as it's aired out. It's completely dry now. Overall in sturdy shape, r etaining original varnished and painted surface. Framed with original bentwood supports. One leather handle is missing, the other is broken. Slight warp to front and a couple of tears to canvas that don't really take away from the appearance. Looks like someone tried to break into it at some point; the locks are not functional, but may be restorable. Looks like someone must have put on an additional lock(it doesn't show up on the original ads) and that's missing the bottom latch(I would just remove it, but that's up to the winning bidder. Vintage Wood & Canvas Flattop Small/Doll Trunk with Drawer
Up for auction is a vintage/antique small trunk which was a doll trunk(had doll items in it) It measures 16" long by 9" deep by 10" high. It has wooden slats and either burlap or canvas in between the slats. The drawer bottom is the same material(I believe it is canvas) The leather handles(or are completely gone) are missing pieces. The lock is crooked, and there are a lot of flakes. And there is some hardware missing. Vintage Antique Wooden flat top steamer trunk. It measures more than 34" in length by just over 18" wide and a little more than 21" height and weighs almost 35 lbs. This MidCentury trunk is a stained with dark mahogany stain color and is very sturdy and usable. The Corners are coupled with heavy aluminum edges. and there are typical dings and dents. Scratches and scuffs due to age and use. There is little to no musty smell, at least is not saturated with odor/scent- will spray with Apple Cider vinegar to help neutralize naturally. Not sure of what type of wood- but there are additional carved wood bumpers on outer sides this Shabby Cottage Chic piece~ This trunk is antique and old- and has original small cast-steel wheels. All 4 are present and rolls fine. One hinge that is strong and holds up fine. This old trunk has a leather ... morehandle on right- still usable. left handle is missing and one of the flat top leather straps is split- all others tacked down and seem sturdy enough to use- though you can determine leather condition- Please LOOK at Photos to consider condition. Tons of photos were taken- so if you need to see more- send a message. All the original hardware on this old trunk that it's fairly good working order- center latch does not lock or click closed and one clip closes better than the other. Needs adjustment as desired. This old steamer trunk does have a top tray- It has been lined with old(wallpaper-like) thick paper batting material. The lid to closed compartment of top tray is cracked/crushed a little on the inside/underside of lid. This could be easily repaired. Trunk, 32"x19"x16", Wood with Metal Trim, Golden Studs and Brass Hardware
This beautiful trunk is made from thick plywood and is very heavy. About 40 pounds. It has numerous brass tacks on the surface and along the metal strips, and hinges which have been painted gold. The interior has also been painted- beige. There is an insert(not the original) available to the buyer if he/she wants it(if not, I'll lower the cost of shipping a tad) See the photos- it is obvious that it is too small for this large trunk. The lid opens and closes easily and remains open, in spite of evidence on the right side that a hinge may be missing. The brass clamps in the front work fine to keep it securely closed. There is no lock. The leather straps on the sides are in good condition, useful, and give authenticity to its antique status. Quite a unique trunk with a few quirks.

Carved Wood Vintage Chinese Trunk, 80+ years old; 35.5" W x 17.75" D x 17.5" H
Intricately carved on all four sides and the top. This trunk was saved from over 50 years of storage in a friend's garage and brought into my home. The inside hinge to keep the top from falling back had come losse at some point and there is some damage on the back left side as shown in the photos. Slight cosmetic damage to the outside but overall a strong piece. A little shrinkage in the top also that shows in some cracks. Great for storing linens/pillows/blankets. I don't have a key for it and didn't want to have it lock on me. The lock is made by eagle lock company of CT. The leather straps are not all there due to its age but the fasteners still work. There is wear and age to the outer shell. The old black leather finish could benefit from some good black paste shoe polish? And there are some deeper gouges on the backside of the trunk as shown. The brass lock does not have a key. It is turned into a position so it can not close. Both the brass lock and the latches are marked Eagle Lock Co. The inside is canvas lined and as you can see in the photo's there are lots of stains and wear. No offensive odors. The thick layered leather handles are separating, as shown. ANTIQUE EARLY 1800's LEATHER COVERED BRASS STUDDED WOOD BOX VINTAGE 19TH C. TRUNK A rare original. Early 1800's, small trunk or document box that is covered in leather and has brass studs. It has a lock in the front and a brass handle on the top. The inside of this trunk is what I love about it! There is the original paper lining with a printed man, in a top hat, riding a horse(of the period, see photo) The lid is held in place by the leather construction and there were never any hinges. This wonderful old trunk measures approximately 13" across x 6 1/2" wide x 5" tall(not including the brass handle) I have taken close up photos to show the condition. There is wear to the leather with one side missing most of it(see photo) The rest is crackled and may have a bit missing, here and there. It is missing some of the brass ... morestuds and the paper on the inside does show wear and tear. This old trunk is over 200 years old but is still mostly together! What a great find this is! Probably from the very early 1900's. Possibly a bit earlier. It stands 13.5" tall, is 20" across and depth is 11" Wood with metal hinges. It has a keyhole, but no key. Hinges are all in great condition. Inside is original paper lining. Blue and white label is pretty good. Gem City Trunks. Bags, Valises& Cases" Original tray. This is from Quincy, Il. On the lid top is a small chunk missing. The side has a small spot of missing veneer. Overall. This is in great antique condition. Will make a great show piece. Please look very closely at enlarged pictures and ask any questions you may have before bidding. To avoid future disappointment. Almost all of my items are from 30 to 150 years old. They will not look new. They will. Most likely, have paint loss, rust, dust and/or everyday wear on ... morethem. Please keep this in mind before you bid. OHIO WHICH WAS FOUNDED IN THE EARLY 1860'S AND WAS IN BUSINESS UNTIL 1965, BUT NOT UNDER THE SAME NAME)THEY WERE MAKERS OF“FINE SOCIETY AND MILITARY ITEMS” PARAPHERNALIA AND UNIFORMS FOR FRATERNAL ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE MASONS, ODD FELLOWS, KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS AND POLICEMEN. THIS WONDERFUL TRUNK MEASURES 18" LONG by 10 1/4" WIDE by 11" TALL. OUTSIDE IT HAS BRADS. METAL REINFORCEMENTS ON THE EDGES AND CORNERS AND A NAME STENCILED ON THE SIDES THAT I CANNOT QUITE MAKE OUT. I THINK IT SAYS J.W. SALLMAN) IT WAS COMPLETELY BOUND IN LEATHER AT ONE TIME. BUT MOST OF THAT IS GONE NOW. THE LATCHES ON EITHER SIDE WORK FREELY AND IT HAS A LOCKING MECHANISM BUT NO KEY.
