The trunk does have most of the original label on the top, although I am unsure of the age of the trunk. The leather carry straps are intact at both ends. There is an H C & D Honolulu label on the side of the trunk. There are a lot of scratches to the bottom finish on the trunk. The locking mechanism is missing from the center latch. But an ANTIQUE and was hand carved. I have not had anyone look at it so I really do not know if it is bone or another material. The wooden stand that it is on also looks hand carved and is very interesting. The Elephant Statue measures a little over 2" high and is about 2& 1/2" wide. Nice old trunk for doll clothes in the shape of a dome trunk. Measures 12" X 7 1/4" X 7 1/4" This trunk has many condition issues and please use the photos as part of the description so you can see exactly what you are getting. The leather handles are gone; the lock does not work; there is a lot of wear and tear on the outside. Both on the leather and the paper. The top of the trunk is very dark, is very worn around the edges, and is separating from the box on one corner- I did not attempt to clean. I believe there once was a tray inside which is missing. And the inside paper is torn and stained. On a good note, the hinges work nicely and the wood appears solid with no holes. This trunk is an estate find from Hop Bottom. Pennsylvania. There aren't any maker marks on the trunk. The lock is marked Eagle Lock Company- Terryville, Conn. The trunk is in good functional condition and is an excellent candidate for a repurposing. Perhaps as a coffee table. The size of the trunk is 23 1/4 inches tall x 22 inches wide x 36 inches long. All of the hardware functions normally and appear to be brass. The tin cladding and wood accents have beautiful patinas. The interior appears to be original. The interior tray is missing. I know very little about this trunk. I found it in a foreclosure here in Vegas. It is ROUGH. I can send more pics if you need to see certain features. It was definitely a cool looking trunk when it was new. The bottom is the worst part. See pics. I am taking a stab at the price, so don't shoot me if it is too high. it is large and pretty heavy. Shipping might be possible but I am going to list this as local pickup. Picking it up would be a good Las Vegas vacation excuse. Skeleton key lock(NO KEY) Measures 30' Long x 14' Wide x 10' Deep. Condition: There is 2 areas were metal banding is missing as pictured in the front of the box. There is a piece missing at outer edge bottom board( see boxes bottom picture) so the bottom boards are a little loose but held in place by the metal banding. Boards could be fastened with small nails to be more secure but will leave that up to the new owner. This box is really gorgeous and would be a great show piece in any room. It’s all solid hard wood that I believe is maple. It has beautiful old bluish-green paint. And hand dovetailed joints. It has handsome metal strapping that goes completely around the trunk. It’s a very sturdy trunk measuring 41” long with handles. 20” wide, and 19-1/2” high. Perfect for a coffee table and storage. The inside of the trunk is very clean. There is a small of wood missing from the bottom side(see picture) And a hinge need a couple of screws for which I did not have the right size. THERE IS NOTHING SIGNIFICANT TO MENTION. THE BRASS HANDLES ON THE SIDES ARE MISSING BUT EASILY REPLACEABLE. THESE MAY HAVE BEEN ADDED LATER TO THIS CHEST FOR I FOUND OLDER HARDWARE INSIDE THE TRUNK. 1890s Antique Oak banded canvas covered steamer trunk with wood bindings and reinforced brass corners. European made- This trunk is covered in brown canvas and has a flat top with hardwood runners and reinforced brass corners. Would make a jazzy coffee table or store prop. This double lock Oak banded trunk Circa 1890-1910 were a newer generation of the older. More solid trunks previously made. The wood was thinner, and instead of wide wood slats, they used half round oak banding. The trunk has the original brass lock but sadly no key, it has metal carrying handles at each end and would make a fantastic coffee table, toy box or stage prop.
