I could not find much history on this just that around 1930 they went from making trunks and suitecases to table tennis. Anyway this trunk is very heavy. It is in pretty good condition. Vintage Travel Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Nice and Clean
Up for auction is this very nice Vintage Steamer Trunk it is in good condition considering it's age. It does not have any name on it that I can see. It has on the leather handle some indentions of words but all I can make out is R-407. The lock has Everlasting lock D63 but the lock is broke which could be replaced. I guess it wasn't everlasting. There is a little water damage on the inside please look at photo's 3&4. This is a great way to store your special things you want to keep.Thank you and happy bidding. This is an old oak chifferobe or wardrobe. Condition is very good with a nick. A veneer chip or scratch here and there but nothing bad, all minor. Beveled mirror has varnish around the edge but will scrape off easy, I tried it. I didn't scrape off because I'm selling for someone else. The original hanger rod is still in place or has oak shelves that lift out. No door key. Must pick up near Roanoke Virginia.

Vintage or Antique Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Travel Steamer Trunk Suitcase
This is an antique or vintage Hartmann Tourobe made in Racine WI travel wardrobe trunk. Trunk measures about 35" x 20" x 12" This has been used. There are surface scratch/rub marks on the outside of the trunk, the leather handle is broken off, the closures work but there is not a key to lock them. Trunk is has markings on the end that say Lt. Comdr. Johnstone MCVS U.S.N.R. on the end and a sticker that says Gibalterized. The Hartmann Tourobe Racine Wi sticker is intact. There are travel stickers attached to the outside and a tag that says Railway Express, Inc. War Won't Wait, if that helps to date it. This outside is black with metal, and not sure what the main material is, maybe a pressed wood. The inside is blue with 3 compartments on the fold down side, 2 of the compartments have cloth ties, the top cloth part folds ... moreover and snaps at the end, snap pieces are intact. The other side has 2 wood hangers and the metal pieces that hold the hangers fold in to hold the hangers and can be folded out when the trunk is opened. There are some water marks on the cloth cover of the fold out part and a musty smell to the inside of the trunk. The red stripes on the outside of the trunk do have rub marks.

This old trunk is a beautiful example of the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern trunks made since 1896 in Paris. A real classic! This is a wardrobe style trunk that was designed to hold hanging clothes. When stood upright and opened in the center this would be like a personal closet and the clothes rod pulls out to allow easy access to the hanging clothes. This trunk has the original marked wood hangers. The exterior LV monogrammed covering is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear.Even the large leather handle is in good condition. The vintage handles are all in tact. center lock has been scratched, some one has used a tool to get open. Length 41 standing up. 22 inches long 14 inches closed botton to top. Large vintage antique armoire wardrobe nice needs TLC LOOK
Very nice old armoire/wardrobe. I am not sure of the age. But I know I was given this as a child(around 7) and I am 40. It came from my aunt who had it for 30 years that I know of. so its possibly 70 years old? I could not find a name or mark on it anywhere.It stands 52 1/2 inches tall. The legs keep it 5 inches off the ground. The front legs are a carved design but the back ones have had blocks added to them. Not sure if they had designs too that broke off or what. It has always been like this since I have had it. Its 18 1/2 inches wide(19 1/2 if you count the decorative lip around the top) Its 37 inches across(38 if you count the lip) The doors stay shut with a little latch thing inside. The doors are 41 x 17 and 1 inch thick. Its divided inside in 2. One side is probably for hanging items, but there was never a rod in there to hang anything. ... moreThat side is 16 1/2 x 21 and 46 inches tall. The other side has 3 shelves. Top one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 15 inches tall. The middle one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 10 inches tall. The bottom one is 14 inches across, 16 inches back to front and 20 inches tall. Cool decorative features around door knobs and at top, bottom and sides. Knobs are original. It has lost some of the wood on top, sides, on door. You can see in pictures. It has been painted outside 100 times. Last time was about 12 years ago my sister and I stripped it and tried to stain it cherry. Crappy job. But if someone is really god with furniture you could get this to look brand new. Nice solid piece of furniture. I have no room for it anymore. This will have to be a pick up only, and I don't have a car big enough to meet you anywhere sorry. you will have to come here to get it. Vintage National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Titanic NVF antique
This auction is for a beautiful antique wardrobe steamer trunk made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Company. The construction of these trunks bearing the indian-head label date back to the late 1800s into the early 1900s. This particular piece has been stored in my moms attic since she and my dad purchased their house in 1965 from an old couple who had lived in the home since i was built in 1924. I'm estimating the age of this trunk to be anywhere between 90 and 100 years old. As seen in the pictures the trunk had been only slightly used and does not show any signs of travel use. It shows signs of oxidation on the metal parts and slightly on the vulcanized material. The leather handle has not worn out and is still in good condition bearing the number 524-22. Vintage Antique Samsonite Luggage Train Case Chest Wardrobe Shwayder Bros #4139
This needs TLC. But it is a lovely part of History. The gentleman that owned this traveled by train for his job. No key but it does have a place for one to go. Pretty beat up but I have not cleaned it as I do not know what to use. The inside seems to have all the pieces but one of the"curtains" need to be repaired as it has come loose from the strap. This appears to have one side for hanging clothes which appears to be intact. The other seems to be shelves this is the one that needs repairing. This is made by the Shwayder Brothers out of Denver, 4139. This has one lock on each side and two locks at the top. The left one is a little hinky but it does close correctly. Vintage Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Excelsior Lock Early 1900's Original w/ Hangers
For Sale is a Wonderful Vintage Wardrobe Trunk from the Early 1900's. It is all original. There are 3 drawers on the right hand side to hold folded clothes. The left side is for hanging clothes. Included are 4 original wood hangers. 2 can hold pants plus a top/jacket/shirt/blouse/etc. and 2 are just for tops/shirts/dresses etc. There is also an adjustable bar that helps hold in the hanging clothes. Everything is original from the floral interior to the hardware and two leather handles. There is no key but keys are still available and can be purchased on the web. The lock is an Excelsior brand which dates the trunk to the early 1900's. Stamped on the lock is"USA. Excelsior Stanford, Conn#5987. The lock was loosened from one side of the trunk to allow it to be opened by a previous owner. It is, however, all there. The latches work ... moreand hold the trunk closed. One is a little hard to open. I sometimes use a screw driver to pop it open. This trunk stands 36 1/2 inches tall. Is 22 inches deep and 14 inches wide. The exterior is a forest green color with black trim on the corners and white pin stripes. The floral interior is green and peach colored. It does show signs of use. There is some staining on the drawers, and the hardware, probably brass plated, has age discoloration and/or oxidation. Kind of gives it character. There are many uses for trunks like this from being a guest room dresser to a coffee table. It could be refurbished or enjoyed as it is. The pictures show what you are bidding on. Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as.
