I believe it has the original stain finish and aged patina. Each side is made from a wide single chestnut plank board? Growth this size is becoming increasingly a thing of the past. Traditional hand made sides are dove tailed joined without nails. Lid is slightly warped. And is intact, but has loosened its side molding pieces. Lid is fastened by two antique forged iron“loops” Its hand wrought iron hasp appears to be intact. Trunk measures Approx. 15 1/2"w x 39"l x 16"h with 1” high feet. This is a really nice old lacquer box which is part of Hina doll display. This is the Japanese"doll house" of the Emperor and Empress and the stair-step display of handmaidens and muscians. Most commonly dispalyed on Girl's Day, and would be a lovely addition to any Japanse doll display. It is hand painted gold and black lacquer. It measures 2 1/2 inches by 1 3/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches. Vintage silver plate large chest w/drawer outside refinished 16" x 11" x 5.5"
Vintage silver plate large chest w/drawer outside refinished 16" x 11" x 5.5"tall w/o legs 6 1/4" w/legs. I believe this is Cherry wood. I put a clear finish on it so the wood would show. The second picture is what it looked like before refinish. The plating has worn off the handle. Everything but the finish is original. Inside is a plate 1847 Rogers Bros. America's Finest Silverplate. 12 slots in lid for knives. 10 slots in top, 9 in bottom. I do not know if this is tarnish resistant or not. The top white fabric is stained and worn. Vintage Red Thermos Brand Metal Ice Chest Cooler w/ Bottle Openers on Handles
Up for auction is a vintage Thermos brand Ice Chest Cooler. It is made of metal with a plastic insulated liner. It measures approximately 21 by 13 by 13 inches. I filled it with hot bleach water and let it sit overnight. Which removed most of the yellowing on the inside liner. However, a little bit of the yellowing does remain, but it is sanitized and ready to use. No splits or cracks in the plastic liner. The drain plug is still present and it screws and unscrews with ease. The top and bottom align. And the latch works. The gasket is in decent shape. A few very small scattered surface dings. Some scratches and missing paint. And a little light rust here and there. After washing the outside I applied a couple of thin coats of auto wax to keep the areas with no paint from oxidizing. This is a fairly small but cool vintage military green box. The brand is union and it has a patent number of 3171566. It is from the 60s to 70s. Someone before me put green felt on the inside. It is still in clean condition. The chest is comprised of both solid teak and teak veneer. Note the size next to the Eames LCW chair. The compact footprint is fantastic and while perfect for an entryway, it will allow for placement in just about any room in your home. Now lets talk function. You basically have three areas plus the top surface for storage. The top could be used to display some small vases ... moreand maybe a small tray or box for keys. Wallet etc. Below you have double sliding doors, each with a cubicle compartment behind them. In the middle are three pull out drawers that are bypassed by the doors when they are slid side to side. The piece can take on different looks depending on how you position the doors. If you want a something that is pretty much a complete departure from the norm.
