Old advertisements for this ... moretrunk can be found from the 1918s! This trunk is close to 100 years old! The hinges on the lid are still in good condition and workable. The flip-down locks on the front are stiff but open and close well. The center lock no longer works- looks like someone had to"break and enter" as it is slightly bent and the lock mechanism is missing. There are heavy leather handles on the side that are still in very good condition. Above these handles are eye hooks to attach and hold the trunk still. There are decorative rivets holding the steel in place on all the edges. It looks like a few of them have been replaced over the years. All the outside hardware has rust on it. The black outside material is canvas-leather like. Not sure what it is but there are some rips and showing underneath is wood.There are small holes on the sides and bottom. Maybe this was used for bootlegging at one time? It looks like the bottom could have been nailed down to something as there are small nails that stick up on the inside. Neat old black and white wallpaper type material on the inside of the lid and in the three cubby-holes on the right side. Very spacious measuring approx. 29" long x 15" high. The largest space on the inside measures 24" wide x 11" Each of the cubbyhole spaces measures approx. 4" x 3 1/4 to 3 3/4" with the center space being the smallest. The inside is lined in a canvas type material. I will say there is a very strong mildew smell on the inside. It is dirty inside too- this is definately in need of some TLC! It looks like someone added leather and snaps to the inside of the lid to hold things.the leather is light colored and newer looking. One of these straps is broken. The original leather strap that holds the lid open is scuffed and worn but still works for the purpose. Overall this is a nice vintage trunk with a condition commensurat

This trunk belonged to an aunt of mine who passed away in 1988 at the age of 102 years old. She at the time told of this trunk being in the family when she was a child. This would date this trunk back to the late 1800's at a minimum. Now over the years someone put a hasp on the thing in order to keep it secure(locked) One of the clips that hold the thing shut has the metal clamp or"hook" part missing. I have been told by antique dealers that it is not too hard to find one. The flowers. And birds that are put on it(some form of inlay or type of paint) are quite pretty. The weight of the truck empty is approx 19 pounds. The length is 32 inches. The height is at about 12+ inches, and the width is approx 16 inches. 32 x 16 x 12) It has dust on it and I have since wiped it off. The trunk most likely could be stripped and redone(that ... moreis what the local antique dealer has told me) I was hesitant about selling this at first and then I decided I am getting much older and should sell it so that someone that is able and willing to maybe clean up or restore it can enjoy it. I am disabled now and unable to do much with it or I would. I did take it to the antique dealer here in town and he has about 60,000 SF of commercial floor space and he would try to sell it for me on consignment. He recommended we start the sale off at $300.00, however I am going to start the auction off much lower in order to allow some of you that are like me(don't have a lot of money) to be able to win this auction. Here is a nice l early Aluminum Aviator trunk. The trunk is from the late 1930's to early 40's. It's in great shape with the average travel wear scratches/patina from its journeys abroad. The trunk has the name"A.H. ACOSTA" stenciled on the front. This was an expensive trunk for the day with all alluminum nails and rivets through out. It has a high grade alloy central carrying handle and heavy duty steel handles on the ends. Also the lining on the interior is typical of a higher end quality/classy trunk. This trunk has the key and it can also be additionally secured with a paddlock. The key is old but not original to the trunk but does open the lock with a little fiddling. This is a fabulous early 1900s black heavy steamer trunk lined with fabric. Once opened. There are 3 dropdown compartments which are suspended by sweet hardware from the era. All are covered with a nice blue fabric in great condition, and each closes with a small flat latch. There is a hanger bar front to back with several original wood hangers. there are tie rack bars running front to back on each side. The trunk compartment is lined with the original blue satin material sporting several shoe pockets surrounding the sides and back. This material should be replaced or refurbished. It is old and stained, torn in areas. Graphics suggest it is a Mendel Trunx. Label says Lutz of Washington D.C. There are heavy leather handels. Up for sale is a Beautiful Rare Antique/ Vintage Box. Can used for memory box. Trinket box or alone for absolute perfect Antique Decor! The box has some minor light( as shown in pictures) It does have a working lock and key But I can't find the key right now. The key can probably be replaced and I am still looking for the key myself. This Patsy doll is approx. 11" tall and comes in a steamer trunk with all that you see. This estate find comes with everything found in the trunk. So I am not sure what is original and what is not. This is a vintage Ideal Betsy Wetsy. 13/12" depending on toe or heel: and wonderful old wooden doll trunk* Betsy comes with a bottle and has dark blonde or light alburn hair She is missing the first two rows about of her bangs. With hair combed down you miss seeing it. She also is missing a few plugs her and there but overall her hair looks really nice, I was surprised that so much was missing. She has the tip of a little toe smashed and looks like inner staining to skin on one leg from water exposure perhaps* She is wearing a white and pink crocheted dress* She is marked on back of neck with Ideal Toys and a VW! I think. Hard to see* The trunk must have been so amazing new! It is wood with a paper covering which was textured I think. It was covered with traveling stickers and had a brown leather handle which is now torn in two. Brass ... morefixtures but the center latch is missing a key so I have not shut it. The top is super special as it opened on it's own to show a small compartment-maybe where the doll was kept. The color is showing lighter than was it is in real time-the photos of the inside showing the green in closer to true color. I am sure the Betsy doll does not come with the trunk. I just added her in. This sadly has come apart from the nails holding it together and the paper sealing. You might be able to see where the one nail missed the wood and was just held by the paper. This would make a great project to refinish or such keep as is for all the purest out there. The inside have all kinds of drawers- I can not tell if they are original or added after the fact. It does appear to me the top one on the left was at one time on the bottom of the other side. The paper matches the inside paper. This is a beautiful genuine antique Lane brand cedar lined hope chest which belonged to my grandmother. She was given this as a 9th grade graduation gift in 1952 from her mom and dad. The color is a beautiful medium brown and made out of solid cedar wood and veneer on the outside and brown stain finish. This chest is very secure and sturdy. This is U.S. Navy brass lock. It is marked on the front of the lock 14 Federal USN. It also says four brass levers. GENUINE SOLID BRASS" It has a little opening and closing key door. Please zoom in on the pics because this best describes this lock. It is in really nice shape and it comes with one key. The back of the lock says W. Bell and Sons LTD. Philadephia, Penna. Locksmiths by appointment and has the word"drain" It closes and opens with ease with the key. It would look nice on a old trunk or even a new one. It also would look good in anyones lock collection.
