Formerly a dresser base, having a pistachio green over rhubarb stained and painted finish and original metal scalloped cup handles, the carcass comprising of a moulded rectangular top above an arrangement of eight drawers and central cupboard comprising two frieze drawers and central cupboard door flanked by two banks of two short drawers to a plinth base survives from the latter part of the nineteenth century. Jack Morey, of Plymouth, MA was/is a member of the Historical Soc iety of American Decorati on. The chest measures 10 x 4.5 h x 5. 25" d and is correct is every detail: 6 board design with overhan ging lid. Base molding and clea t and rope handles. It is constructed of wood and finely painted on the lid and front of the chest. It is fairly lightweight. The lid features a sailing ship w/the US flag. Vintage 5 Drawer FLORENTINE JEWELRY Music BOX Chest GOLD PAINTED Metal LEGS
Fresh from a recent estate sale comes this lovely vintage jewelry box. It has five drawers and measures 10 3/4" tall. 10" across and 5" wide. The style is Florentine but I believe this box was made in Japan in the 1950s/60s. There is a sticker on the bottom that reads APCO. Unfortunately the turn knob is jammed and the music doesn't play. This box is in excellent condition otherwise. Stands on gold painted metal legs with metal drawer pulls and the rest of the box is wood.

Antique Wooden Painted Nautical Sailors Fishing Chest Trunk Box 1800's Steamer
This is an AMAZING antique fishing chest. I think it's late 1800's maybe really early 1900's. when I purchased it there was a bunch of old salt water fishing hooks and a sting ray barb& other cool stuff in it! One of the almost completely deteriorated paper boxes of hooks read 1910 on it, so I know it's at least that old. There are awesome adjustable wooden cubby compartments on the inside& spots to put a rod on the inside upper lid. In the pictures I left some of the fishing stuff in there. But its cleaned out now. There are some amazing graphics on this chest. On the top of the chest is a nautical compass reading north east south and west, on the front under the latch(which is fully functional) are the initials F.D.JR. On the right side of the chest are three flags I'm not sure if these three flags identify the ... morearea in which it was made? maybe someone with nautical knowledge will know for sure. And on the left is an anchor with rope twisting around it. Im pretty sure these are all hand painted. Or super old decals. But I'm pretty sure there hand painted. The chest appears to have a sealant on the outside. Which I'm sure they would have done to help protect it from salt water. There are no major cracks in this chest. I have put no chemicals on it to clean it. Just a damp rag. Now a couple down sides to this beauty: the back hinges have rusted and broken.see pics) and on the sides it looks like there were a couple ropes screwed in to keep it on board? That are gone. And a few cracks on the bottom. The chest measures 22" long X 10 1/2" wide. And sits 8" tall. If there are any questions please feel free to ask& I will answer them best I can. Compartments measure approx. 6 ½ by 7. 6 by 3 and the smaller compartment of 3 ½ by 3 ½ inches. The bottom drawer measures 11 by 5 ¾ inches. This heavy beautiful wood chest is a darker ginger brown. Maybe maple, not sure. The wood is in very nice condition. It has a rustic finish showing some natural imperfections, nice sheen and lovely wood grain. No chips. American Federal Painted Antique Chest of Drawers, Connecticut c. 1780-1800
American Federal Period Red Painted Chest of Drawers Connecticut c. 1780-1800 Item# 120102ZMP25 This is a rather fine American Federal Period Red Painted Maple Chest of Drawers. Almost certainly Connecticut c. 1780-1800. It is an absolute work of art with a somewhat early and crusty red and black painted surface over the maple primary woods. The broad single board top projects over the case, finishing in soft molded edges of the solid over four graduated drawers. Each drawer features original hand cast batwing hardware and faux-keyhole escutcheons with numerous layers of original and later paints- one picture below shows a faux-keyhole escutcheon removed from the case, depicting the gritty surface behind it as well as detailed closeups of the back of the hardware. Each drawer is hand dovetailed with broad and rough dovetails. The drawer frame ... moreand bottom crafted of white pine. The bottom is deeply chamfered to rabbet into the frame, and each drawer bottom is nailed at the back, though many nails are later with only a few originals. Each drawer is divided by drawer blades that through-dovetail into and through the side of the case and backed by pine drawer runners nailed inside the case with rose head iron nails(one drawer runner top right replaced) The bottom of the case is uniquely designed. Sliding into rabbets in the sides of the case along the entire bottom, locking at the front with an exposed through-dovetail. The top, likewise built to last, is joined at the top with a sliding dovetail joint that allows the top to expand and shrink easily without causing cracking or pressure. The back of the case features two board construction, one board being incredibly wide at 20" the second board being 13" wide with a soft ovular flow between the back feet. Original iron rose heads line the perimeter of the case back, locking the very thick secondary wood to the case permanently with only one replaced nail. Not sure whether it is a salesman sample or a miniature collectible, but it is a very nice primitive piece. Not sure what the wood is, it is painted with old pale green paint Three drawers with original wood drawer pulls, the top pull is different, not sure if it was broken, nicely constructed with beadboard sides and empire detail. It's in excellent condition for it's age. Needing only a few touch-ups. Some of the'Gold' that is on top& bottom of chest including the legs needs touching up where it has flaked off. Standing in front of(facing) ... morethe chest. The right side front corner just below the gold'rope' on down needs some cream touch up. The top is nice& smooth although there's 3 tiny little'pits' size of the point on a tooth pick. It looks great without any of these fixes, I am just trying to be as detailed as possible so there are no surprises when it arrives at your door. Please carefully look at pictures as they will'describe' it's condition better than my words can. The only'hardware' is drawer pulls& they look original. Everything else is wood. I don't see where any nails were used at all. As far as history on this all I can tell you is I purchased it from a gentleman that said his mother had bought this at an antique store in the mid west back in the 70's. Also note the quality touch of the small round wooden projectiles in the rear to keep the chest from hitting the wall and making the lid difficult to open.
