The trunk itself is in good condition, structurally, although I am unsure of its actual age. The trunk has gotton wet at some point, and the moisture damage and staining goes all the way through to the inside of the trunk. The covering on the outside of the trunk is worn, torn, and coming off in this area as well. The trunk has a hinged lid, and the original lining is still inside the bottom portion of the trunk. The trunk is made of wood, with a nice olive green covering that is mainly intact, except for the aforementioned area, and metal reinforced seams.

It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. Antique Trunk Hardware-Leather Handles-2 straps, 4 Metal ends-& fasteners-YA
Two chestnut color leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 81/2 inches long. Thickness is 1/4" Four brass plated metal strap ends primed and painted black. 1" long split head brass tacks to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end with the handle loop but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

Antique 1889s Leather Luggage Trunk Grand Central Station Depot Railroad
The earliest piece that I have ever found. This leather wrapped trunk was stamped by one of the most famous and early American rail system to date, Grand Central Depot, better known as today by the New York Grand Central Station. The station came about in 1869. This piece is stamped 1894 by Grand Central Depot. Also stamped C.A Hamlin Penn-Yan NY. After doing some research it seems Hamlin was involved in some aspect of the New York Government. The trunk itself has incredible wear and the look is almost impossible to display via photo. Pictures do absolutely no justice to this piece. The trunk has iron corners on the bottom stamped PAT AUG 4 68' Which would be 1868. Incredibly early. Inside the cloth lid holders have detached. Victorian Leather Steamer Trunk Antique Chest 1854 - 1860 Ex Original Features
Victorian Authentic Leather Steamer Trunk This 150-year-old antique leather-covered trunk dates to the 1850s or 1860s and is distinctive in its well-preserved tooled leather covering with diamond and square embossed designs. One of the larger trunks of its era. The leather dometop measures 34 inches long, 20 1/2 inches wide and stands 25 inches tall at the peak of its dome. The leather covering is in excellent condition. The interior is clean, and although it is heavy, it rolls easily on two original and two replacement rollers. Importantly. The original leather handles are in excellent condition- a rare find for any antique trunk- and it features the authentic working key for the brass locking plate. The trunk originated in Lovell. Mass. and in its original condition featured two interior trays covered with paper, a paper-covered interior ... morelid compartment with drop down stationery door, and Victorian lithographs. The artwork on the lid compartment door showed a couple dancing in a rural outdoor setting. The other lid art depicted four ladies in Victorian gowns, presumably attending a dance or party. Unfortunately, the condition of the paper lining could not preserve the original artwork, but photocopies of the lithographs and blue ribbon trim are included in this sale and could be used for reattachment, if desired. The trunk’s exterior had two leather belts and buckles(one leather strap is missing- the trunk's only flaw) and a working brass lock plate and key. A tag about the size of a business card and bearing the name of perhaps the last owner was tacked to one end. The tag was penned by hand and read: Mrs. Wm W. West St. Louis Missouri When the tag was removed. The reverse side was imprinted with the name"Chauncey, 10 Dearborn Street, in script type. But the remainder of the address, if any, is missing. This could be the trunk’s manufacturer. Or just a merchant’s card that Mrs. Smith used to label her trunk for identification. I purchased this trunk at a sale in Santa Fe about 4-5 summers ago. This is by far the most remarkable travel steamer trunk I have ever seen. It is entirely covered in leather. Even the bottom. Instead of the usual wooden"straps" across the sides and top, this trunk has beige leather straps crossing the top and sides. The bottom does have the wood approx. 2" wide straps on the bottom. These tan leather on the top, front and sides are affixed with hundreds of brass round head tacks. The skin leather is a rich brown. It is thick and slightly weathered with a few cracks in the leather but I have kept it oiled and soft. The inside is equally as remarkable with 2 removable compartments. Both compartments have everything with them they came with. the top compartment has 3 leather straps with snaps that keep it shut. It can be opened ... moreby folding the lid back once or twice. The snaps read Polly Brand on them making them the original snaps. It also is complete with brass handles on the sides. Both compartments along with the entire interior has the original linen striped covering. The second compartment is complete as well with original linen ties. 4 brackets to keep it resting on both sides.everything is there. The woman I bought this from said a relative owned it during the war but I don't remember if she told me which war or I just never asked. In any case. I don't know. There are minor imperfections with this trunk, all of which I've noted but the leather skin, the leather straps, the brass tacks, the compartments.make this trunk Wonderful and Rare. It is a terrific decor piece as a stand alone. This trunk measures 32 1/4" long x 20 1/4" deep x 20" tall. I'm sure it weighs around 50 plus pounds. Up for auction is a Replacement Custom Made Leather Handle or Strap for Old Antique Storage or Shipping Trunks. The size is 8 3/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide and over 1/4 inch thick. It is made of heavy veg tanned leather. Two pieces glued together and then stitched together for a very secure strap. Holes or slots can be added at no additional cost. HI, I have for sale a early 1900's maybe a late 1800's Antique Humpback Trunk. Located in Weston. Wi. by Wausau, WI. 54476. The trunk is in good condition for the age. It has wheels on the bottom, has to outside latches that work fine and a center locking latch I have no key, but not all that hard to finds a key. The outside is made of wood and metal with some leather overlay and wood slates, the bottom is solid, there is no self for the inside and overall in good condition. This item is an antique Chinese Pig Skin Leather Trunk. ca. 1900) Beautifully hand painted with scenes of beautiful Oriental ladies. Outside is gold and the painting is in soft colors that have retained their beauty. Great artistry. Original brass hardware latch in front and handles on the sides. Inside is lined with blue cloth. In very good antique condition. Some minor surface wear commensurate with age and use. There is one 2 1/2" tear on the side of the outer cover that I have featured in the last photo. It is a place where the pigskin has come loose from the tacks. It lays flat and does not detract from the beauty of the piece. Otherwise. No rips or tears. Antique China Trade Leather Bound Camphor Trunk Chest c 1800s Painted Blue Brass
Outstanding China trade camphor trunk. This timeless lift top chest has been bound in turquoise colored leather and painted with a floral design that really makes it stand out as a decorative piece. The edges have been framed with brass nail heads and the edges and corners have brass bracings as well. The top is lifted with a ring-shaped handle and there are simple metal bail handles on the sides. A shield-shape escutcheon surrounds the lock in the front. The inside of this piece is clean and uncovered. Based on similar pieces. The trunk most likely dates from the latter half of the 19th century. Overall. This piece is in good antique condition with no structural issues. There is some wear and damage to the leather, most notably a hole in the back, some tiny holes in the central design on the top and a rip to the leather on the bottom of ... morethe lid at the front. Please examine the pictures provided below. There are also a few minor bends and dents to the metal bracings, probably a result of past use. The chest stands 13 1/2" tall and measures 29 1/2" long and 15 1/2" wide. Very Old Drum, Made From Leather & Tree trunk, 13" Tall, a Treasure!
Up for sale is a wonderful old. Old drum made from leather and a tree trunk. I do not know the age or provenance of this drum, but I did grow up with it, and know it was old before I was born, 56 years ago. My parents bought it in an antique store in the early 1950's, in the Chicago area. The drum has no identifying markings. The pictures show a couple of areas where the leather has stretched and has developed openings on one end- the other end is still solid. I tried to get photos from every angle. I will ship it Parcel Select or Parcel Post- it weighs several pounds. It is 13" high, and just under 10" in diameter at its widest point. Please feel free to ask any questions. The trunk is leather with a wooden interior and metal latches on the front. There is also a leather carrying handle on the front. A diamond design is in black on the front and a cross-like design is on the top of the lid and the bottom of the trunk. One side of the trunk is marked with"Raymond S. Lister Canton Trenton No. 39 P.M. Trenton. Mich. Latches on the front easily move and the lid is easy to open and close. Interior has a strap across the underside of the lid but needs to be repaired. This trunk is a stagecoach trunk but could have possibly been a child's stagecoach trunk.
