It was purchased from an estate several years ago and aside from the paint scene. Hardware and construction, it's hard to say how old it is but I believe this to be old, but that's my opinion. Hello and welcome to my auction! Up for bid today is a vintage(possibly antique) brown leather drawstring jewelry purse in excellent condition without any damage that I can find. I was pleased to obtain it at a recent estate sale for a reasonable price and was“educated” at that time by a collector of vintage and antique clothing and accessories. I was told these bags were used by women between approximately 1910– 1935 who traveled during the age when steamer trunks were their form of today's luggage. The stiff. Round bottomed design with the flexible leather top was ideal for safely storing their jewelry in a small nitch in a steamer trunk. It layed flat without the danger of toppling over and spilling its contents and the drawstring was an added safeguard. Our collector friend checked this piece out thoroughly and was genuinely impressed ... morewith its condition. The leather is soft and supple without any flaking or tears. The stitching is tight and the green floral fabric interior is intact without any tears or holes. This piece measures approximately 6 1/2" in diameter when measuring the bottom and 5 ½” from top to bottom when the leather is extended to its full height. I’ve taken care to include closeups for your review and to best illustrate my description. It would make a beautiful side table closed and just as nice useable wardrobe for a tight space. These are rarely in such pristine condition. Interior is clean and practically unused. 5 drawers with leather pulls. 12 wooden hangers- 2 types- several different sizes. The lock was popped but the engaging mechanism works perfectly. This is a vintage case probably around 1900. There is a Westley Richards trade label inside the lid. The case has brass corners. A brass lock with key, and two straps for outside the case. The label is marked Westley Richards, 23 Conduit Street. Bond Street London. The case fits a 28 inch barrel either for a side by side double barrel shotgun or side by side double rifle. Inside the case is 29 inch long and 7.5 inch wide. Indie depth is 2.5 inches. The barrel channel is 2.25 inch in the back and 1.5 inch at the front. Antique Salesman Sample leather straps metal trim Steamer Trunk Doll Chest
this is a nice small antique doll trunk or salesman sample. I got with an antique bisque head baby doll. It feels like is made out of wood and the stuff atique trunks are made out of it has had the lock cut out and reattached the handle part there is a hole you can see from last pics. Looks like besides lock part has tipical wear from age I would consider in nice antique condition. Has nice leather straps some metal has dents. LARGE STEAMER TRUNK- CHEST Antique chest. Storage trunk from the early 1900s. Unique, black, with nautical renderings on top sections, original hardware and leather straps(one side has broken strap, which I always thought gave it character) Belonged to my grandfather. I've always used it for storage; photo albums and winter gear, gloves, hats, scarves, snow pants, etc. Dimensions are 32 3/8" wide by 20 3/8" deep by 23" tall. What I love about this. I've never seen another like it; I've seen painted trunks. And black trunks.but never another with unique images like this one. Colors are pretty. Has always been in a non smoking, clean home(mine, or my grandfathers) Please note: I had an eBay store and perfect rating for years. Over hundreds of transactions.
