RARE ANTIQUE STUDDED STAGECOACH TRUNK JENNY LIND STEAMER CHEST WITH KEY & WHEELS
This is a rare wheeled studded Jenny Lind Stagecoach or Steamer Trunk including its key. I think it dates from the 1800's. It is made of iron and wood and has its original fittings and inside compartments and label. There is a compartment in the lid. A tray compartment and a bottom compartment. It has a metal bottom. The label reads Edgar Parmer and company- Trunk Manufacturing and the lock is marked J. Terry& Co. Terryville CT. It is approximately 27 1/2" wide, 17" deep at the deepest point and 16 1/2" tall to the crest. The inserts are in tact and in good used condition, but the leather straps are broken and a brass stud in the lower front side is missing. It has some stains that I haven't tried to clean. Thank you for taking the time to look at the details of this beautiful antique trunk. This Particular Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk comes with Lock. Keys, tray. And original picture. We at Trunks-n-treasures take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very beautiful. Highly decorated, nice, clean refinished dome top Victorian steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside and out to reveal the gorgeous wood. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the paper from the inside, we sanded all the wood and then ... moreapplied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes the wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. The lid on this trunk also has a lid stay to help keep it open. You will also find the original picture on the lid. On this trunk are two new leather Amish handles. The original latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The lock for this trunk also comes with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. Please take the time to notice all of the fancy metalwork on this trunk showing off its beauty. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. For this trunk we also made a replica tray just like the original. The tray is divided into deep compartments to store small items in. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. Antique Flat Top BAUER TRUNKS & BAGS Steamer Trunk Complete with Tray & Key
An antique steamer trunk with a brass tag that reads' BAUER TRUNK& BAG CO. OSHKOSH. WIS' The trunk is covered with dark canvas which is held in place with the wood slats and bands of black metal. It has 4 sturdy hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there's a working Corbin lock marked 6 STwith a matching Corbin key. The trunk is complete with its original two compartment covered tray and the lids each have small leather tabs on them that snap closed. One of the lids is cracked toward the back as seen in the photo. The initials D.M.P. have been stamped in black on each side of the trunk. The trunk measures approximately 33" long X 21" wide X 23" high and the size is nearly perfect for use as a coffee table. On the bottom of the trunk are 4 small wheels that make the trunk easy to move ... morearound on any hard flat surface. Usually the black metal on the underside of these old trunks is scratched and dented but the one on this trunk looks great! There are leather handles on the sides and they seem to be in very good condition which is also unusual, generally at least one, if not both, handles are missing. The inside of the trunk is paper lined and most folks like to remove the paper, sand down the interior and then seal the wood or line them with cedar. Both methods are very effective at removing any lingering musty old trunk odors. This trunk is fine enough to use'as is' but could just as easily be a worthy restoration project. No matter how you look at it you'll have lots of additional storage space and a piece of antique furniture that will soon become your very own family heirloom. This trunk weighs 56 lbs. unpacked and is considered oversized so it will more costly to ship. Shipping will be $60.00 via FEDEX GROUND HOME DELIVERY with tracking and insurance. I can only ship within the lower 48 States and it will have to be shipped to a physical address since FEDEX is unable to deliver to the Post Office.

Gorgeous Refinished Antique Monitor Top Steamer Trunk With Fancy Hardware. Straps and Buckles, Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is one of the nicest. Fanciest, monitor tops that we have done up ever. This refinished monitor top should date back to around 1900 or so. We have twelve pictures of this one for you to view. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 36 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 26 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This beautiful trunk is called a monitor top trunk because it is styled after the 1800's USS Monitor war frigot or ship. This ship was a big, massive battleship. We have removed some of the metal from between the outer slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat ... moreboards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. There are some typical older distress marks or beauty on this trunk that have accumulated over the trunk's long existence. These include nicks and dings in various places and some typical stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have similar markings due to age which gives the trunk it's antique appearance. The top front and rear edge is rounded like a waterfall deco style and it is pretty incredible how the trunk maker was able to bend the outer slat boards around this curve without snapping the boards. This beautiful trunk has the very ornate original working lock. It has embossed patterns all over it as you can see in the picture. We did match up a key that works properly in this lock. The cast iron cap metal going across the center of the top has an"S" engraved into it. This trunk has a lot of fancy hardware all over it, none of which is brass, so it has been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The front latches are also original cast iron ones. Antique German Iron Trunk Lock &Key & Neo-classical Brass Escutcheon c. 1790
This antique 18th c. German lock is entirely blacksmith made with hand filed and riveted elements. It works off double springs that scissor around the original hand wrought tang. The original key is a large beautifully patinated key with turned shaft and a bow handle. The brass escutcheon(which show signs of fire gilding on its reverse side-see photo) is neoclassical in character with central oval section surmounted by an urn above fretwork flutes and with the base decorated with drapery pendants. The design of the escutcheon suggests a German origin for this lock set. The lock case is 4.75" long and has a tapering body that is 4.25" wide at the base and 3.75" wide at the top. Its overall; thickness is about 5/8" The escutcheon is 5.75" long and 2.5" wide. This is U.S. Navy brass lock. It is marked on the front of the lock 14 Federal USN. It also says four brass levers. GENUINE SOLID BRASS" It has a little opening and closing key door. Please zoom in on the pics because this best describes this lock. It is in really nice shape and it comes with one key. The back of the lock says W. Bell and Sons LTD. Philadephia, Penna. Locksmiths by appointment and has the word"drain" It closes and opens with ease with the key. It would look nice on a old trunk or even a new one. It also would look good in anyones lock collection. Norwegian Chest SKELETON KEY Open Barrel Iron Trunk ANTIQUE 18th 19th Century
Antique Hand-Forged Skeleton Key I believe this hand-forged key was made for a Norwegian rosemaled chest. Many heirloom chests made in the 1700's and early 1800's came over with the Scandinavian immigrants who settled in my state of North Dakota. I bought the key from a man who had found it in the wild. Covered in thick layers of rust. It has cleaned up very well and is now a joy to hold and examine. The key features a slightly off-center construction. It is made of iron with streaks of copper. The hollow barrel was formed by rolling a thin sheet of metal and the seam is still visible. The ring on the end is heart-shaped. The key measures 4-1/8" long.
