I purchased this in ... morethe Amish area of Pennsylvania about 30 years ago. It is in the same condition as it was when I purchased it. It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. 1800S ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR STAGECOACH STEAMER TRUNK DATED LATCHES
Up for consideration is a very nice stagecoach trunk. It has original wood handle.The one is missing. It has dated locking latches. The date is July 1872. The lock is working and is dated Nov 68. All hardware and wood has been cleaned well then sealed with a satin finish for protection. The measurements are; 26" long x 14" wide x 17" tall. Shipping, packing and insurance will cost $69.00. Restored 1800s Antique Camel Back Dome Top Steamer Trunk Chest
This dome top camel back steamer trunk circa 1800s has been beautifully restored outside. The interior remains as original. For 40 years at least this trunk has stored extra items in a guest bedroom. The great storage without smells or moisture will be missed. The approximate dimensions are: 30” length. 17” width, 24” height. This trunk has all the original hardware except that one latch is missing the bail. The lock fastens but needs a key. The outside is all original except for the black paint has been redone and the wood and metal cleaned and preserved. The inside tray is missing. This trunk offers great storage and charm.

I purchased the antique steamer trunk at an Auction in the Atlanta area and the Auctioneer said the trunk was made in the 1800"s. The Antique Trunk is the Steamer style and is wrapped on the outside with metal. I believe it is tin) and trimmed with Oak strips. The Antique Trunk is very nice and you will see the detail when you zoom in. The exterior of trunk has a black, gray and copper color. The Antique Trunk size is:24" tall, 32" long and 19 1/2" wide. This would make a nice piece of practical furniture or a decorative piece.

Up for auction is a beautiful large Victorian steamer trunk in original condition. This is a nice size for toys or linens or even a blanket chest. Measures 38" wide x 23" deep x 27" high. Beautiful details such as wood stripping. Brass locks, leather handles and a faux marble painted tin decoration on all sides. There are a couple of minor dents and the inner tray is missing but otherwise in very good condition. Someone could make a tray for this and repair the wood flap inside. Rare Hartmann Vintage Stateroom Antique Travel Steamer Trunk Wardrobe Chest
Characteristics of Hartmann We are offering for sale an extremely RARE& UNIQUE fine stateroom steamer trunk. Came from an older Central Pennsylvania estate. Trunk has previous owners initials H L B. Exact age and origin unknown but believe to be from the early 1900s. 1877: Hartmann Inc. was founded in Milwaukee. Wisconsin by Bavarian Trunk maker, Joseph S. Hartmann. 1905: Mr. Hartmann had a vision to build"luggage so fine it will stand as a symbol of excellence. Because of his vision. The company grew rapidly and moved to larger facilities in Racine, Wisconsin. This trunk has early Hartmann trademark cloverleaf hardware. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. This may be the only one is existence. VERY RARE Quality constructed. Trunk interior is fitted with American golden oak and cast brass ornate pulls with drop front hat box ... morearea that can be used as a desk. Exterior is fitted with rose and silver colored cloverleaf hardware(corners are cast iron and the rest of the hardware is nickel plated brass? which I believe the cloverleaf hardware was characteristic of early Hartmann. Canvas appears to have been a deep mahogany that has darkened over the years from the smoke of coal fired trains and ocean liners. Nice shaped edging of wild boar hide(pig skin) and fine brass tacking. The skin from a boar was tougher and thicker than other animals. Pull out hanger is patented March 1905. The latch is marked Everwear TTC3 and Corbin made in USA. Stately Travel Chest Wardrobe Trunk These early trunks are very rare and hard to find and are as good as. Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/Lock & Keys
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Trunk with Working Lock and 2 keys. This is a very nice. Clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we had to take off the white paint from the inside. This is a very hard thing to do. With white being painted on the wood we sanded a lot and striped the paint off. There are a few white streaks on the inside but it doesn't stand out. The original pine wood is very beautiful now that the paint is off. We then removed the leather in between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the leather we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish black leather handles and two new latches to keep the lid secure. Also ... moreon the lid we applied a new trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. We also attached a new lock with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. We have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The bottom also has the 4 original casters in excellent working condition to ease with moving your trunk. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student to store things in. The size of this trunk measures 28" length x 15 1/2" width x 15height. The two of us love refinishing trunks bringing back the beauty into a piece from the past. Beautiful Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Interior Tray Here is a really fancy beautiful refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 26 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are typical older distress marks on the wood which include older scratches and nicks in various places, although the chest is very sturdy and can be sat upon the top if you want to do so. This trunk maker put a lot of nice metal hardware on this trunk. The metal parts that make up this trunk ... moreare not brass, therefore we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. This trunk also comes with the original patent dated working lock. This is the first time out of well over a thousand trunks that we have had this style of lock. It is patent dated on the key hole cover which is the only brass part on this trunk that we have semi polished. It reads, Pat Mar 69& Apr 77" There is a close up picture showing these dates. We did match up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. You can lock your belongings inside this beautiful trunk away from others. The front latches are original cast iron nice ones that still work since the springs are still intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a tray or insert for this trunk. It rests at the top edge where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. We did leave the fancy paper border in place on the underside of the dome and we added two nice trunk maker's style pictures to the underside of the dome. Considering how old this trunk is, the interior is in pretty good condition.

Completely refinished antique flat top tin covered pine steamer trunk with key. This trunk was made to fit under the seats on a steam train(hint steamer trunk) I installed new double ply stitched leather handles. very strong) made by local amish here in central PA. Also the leather straps and buckles are new and fully functional. The exterior was cleaned. Brushed& sealed for protection as well as conservation, I leave the cracks& dents to preserve the character the trunk has ocumulated over the many years. New high end fabric interior was put on after stripping. Cleaning, brushing, drying and sealing the interior. some say fabric was not used for the interior originally. Brand- LOUIS VUITTON 100% Authentic Style- RAYEE Steamer Trunk(Rayee is French For Striped) Country of Origin- FRANCE Date Range- Louis Vuitton started using the striped canvas in 1872 until 1888 and considering the Low Serial# I would say it was made in the early 1870's Historic Serial Number- Amazing Very Early# 6379 as seen on the Original Sticker which was Never removed for any reason. Note: In January 2013 a striped trunk very similar to this one(but in better original condition. Sold in the UK for $58 K, w/ serial#13502 Interior has been Stripped of the original Canvas interior Although Some Remnants Remain. Including a swatch of the exterior Stripe canvas used for the outside, And Most if not all of the"Tacks" used for the tufting in the lid are still present. The interior would be very easy to restore, but I decided ... morenot to alter or add to it. The flat inside slide hinges are original w/ no issues. There is no moisture damage or odors present. Exterior- Wood/ Black Leather Trim/ Brass Hardware.I believe this was a Higher end model at the time as the hardware is All Brass vs. Iron and it was trimmed in Leather. Obviously the Original Rayee striped canvas has bee removed. However nothing was removed in order to do so, as you can still see canvas remnants under the slats and around hardware. A light coat of lacquer was applied to bring out the beauty of and to protect the wood. I would not think this would be a negative issue if it were to be restore to the original look, as the canvas would cover most of the wood and steel wool could gently remove the rest. Or otherwise it is a Beautiful show piece as it sits or a wonderful candidate for restoration Condition- This Trunk is Structurally Solid and I believe all of the hardware is original. It's a smaller case. It measures 19 3/4" x 17 1/4" 9 1/2" and it weighs 13 pounds. It's marked on the plaque on top"Neverbreak Trunks Manufactured by L. Goldsmith& Son, Newark NJ" It's also marked on the lock. There is no key included but the clasps work well to open& close the trunk. The locking mechanism does not work. The interior appears to have a newer lining in it; I don't know exactly how old the trunk is but I believe it to be from the early 1900's. The outside shows wear consistent with age& usage. The leather strap/handle has some wear& cracking. The metal parts(like the clasps etc. display ... moretarnish. There are spots of wear throughout the trunk& sporadic areas of damage. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Tray, Lock & Keys
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and 2 keys and original tray. This is a very nice. Clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish black leather handles and two original latches to keep the lid secure. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. We also attached a new lock with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. What is also so special ... moreabout this hardware is that it still has the patent date of March 1880 noticeable on the hardware. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Remarkably with this trunk there is the original tray in very nice condition. The lid of the trunk also has the original secret compartment. Finding a lid like this is very rare especially the one this trunk has because it still has the original pictures that are neatly in tact. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The bottom also has the original casters in working condition to ease with moving the trunk. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student. It could also be used as a blanket chest. A Ladycomet Primitive Early Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest
Charming Early Primitive Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk Here is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the mid to late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 16 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This one is a more primitive style trunk in which there is more wood showing and less fancy metal hardware. This one still has the Jenny Lind influence in which there are the small brass rosettes or buttons on the thin metal banding at the sides. The trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards on the top. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older nicks and dings on the wood in various places. This trunk comes with the original lock which has been remounted ... morewith screws. The lock does not work since the top engagement piece or latch that swings down into the lock is missing. The lock is AS IS since this part is missing. The side handles have some wear, but were in good enough condition to keep. They are brown leather stitched straps. This trunk might serve nicely as a coffee table since it does have a flat top. These trunks can also be used to store collectibles like Civil War items or coins within. A real common way to use a trunk like this is to store clothing and other personal belongings within it, especially in a bedroom at the foot of the bed. Going to the interior, the wood is totally rough cut boards. There was glue residue on these boards which held the paper lining in place. The glue residue was light colored, so we had to stain the interior wood dark to try to cover up the lighter glue areas. The interior is dark colored with some glue areas showing and has rough cut boards. A nice picture of a girl holding her pet cat has been added to the underside of the top. Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather ... morehandles on either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Vintage Steamer Trunk Salesmans Sample Doll Miniature Bassett Antique Victorian
Here is an adorable miniature steamer trunk from the Bassett company. It opens and closes with two working side latches and one center latch. Measures 10" long by 6" wide by 6.5" tall. There is no key and the side leather handles are gone. Which is very common for these old trunks. Interior paper is intact but torn on the inside of the lid. There is wood underneath the paper. The exterior has rust as shown in the photos. This trunk is perfect for a restoration project. Or keep it in its original state. Would fit nicely on a shelf!

This is an amazing piece.words are difficult to even describe it. The pictures under the lid are authentic"Kobberstik" prints- also known as copper plate prints.See the description of Kobberstik on wikipedia for a more technical explanation- there is fantastic history. Given the history of Kobberstik. I firmly believe the decorations with the initials"kgd" and the 1774 are authentic. The piece is constructed from Danish Oak.
