Hinged to reveal a fitted dimension as shown above. We searched extensively on the internet to find information about this piece of history and all we could find is as explained below: Hirschfelder& Meaney was established in 1893. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. The San Francisco Call Newspaper of November 16th 1911 listed their address to be on 519 Market Street and another internet search revealed they moved to Battery Street around 1913. Hirschfelder& Meaney was also listed in the 1926 San Francisco chamber of commerce publication as a chest maker with address at 36 battery street San Francisco. Earlier edition of same publication published in 1910 listed same company’s address to be 519 Market Street There are documentations published between 1910 and 1926 that made reference to this company. I have not seen any reference to the company after 1926. This however does not mean one is not out there and for this reason we listed this chest as mid to early 1920. Please do your research to get more information about this vintage chest. We have supplied all the information we had as of the time of listing. Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. Very nice steamer trunk with colorful green embossed flower tin top. Back hinges in good working condition. Center lock[no key] is marked"Eagle Lock Co. Terryville Conn, USA" The two latches located towards the sides of the front work well. Once engaged. They are secured and released by a small lever on the side of the latch. They are marked"Pat Jul 972" The handles are metal and do not appear to be original. But they look very consistent with the trunk and are solidly mounted. All four wheels on bottom are present and still work. There isn't a lift out drawer or hinge stop. The trunk measures approximately 33" long x 18" wide x 24" tall. Beautiful Louis Vuitton Antique/Vintage Steamer Trunk up for auction. Made in France! The trunk in my opinion is in good condition. It does show signs of normal vintage wear for being over 100 yrs old. But with that wear and patina comes character and a story of elegant taste well traveled. This would be an amazing display or conversation piece. I think even as a coffee or end table and I've had some customers get lucite boxes made around them to use as tables as well and create a floating look inside. So many possible ideas with this unique piece of history. This is the Holy Grail of Fashion history! The trunk is early 1900's. The highest model you could have bought back then, this reflects in the brass handles as opposed to the leather handle option. The wear on this item is on the bottom sides from traveling, more so scuff marks. Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. Antique 1909 Louis Vuitton steamer trunk in very good original condition
This beautiful 1909 Louis Vuitton monogrammed trunk(serial# 167505) was used by Nettie(nee Becker) Carlson when she emigrated from Germany to Whitewater. Wisconsin, in the early 1900’s. It has been unused and well preserved in a closet since 1968. One of the front panels was lightly painted over(see photo) but no other changes or restorations have been made. It has all original elements, including the leather top strap and two removable compartments, except for one inside compartment divider and the key to the lock. Both compartments contain fabric enclosures with LV brass buckles and LV name on fabric straps. There is some expected wear but the trunk is in very fine overall condition. The lock is stamped and marked Louis Vuitton London. All four built-in wheels function well(one sticks slightly but may just be impeded by a slight bend in ... morethe metal surround– see photo) It measures 43.5" long x 20.5" high x 21.5" deep. Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Steamer Antique Trunk & Tray w/Lock & Keys
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Trunk with Working Lock and 2 keys and original tray. This is a very nice. Clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we had to take off the canvas on the outside and all the paper from the inside. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the canvas and paper we sanded all the wood and then applied polyurethane by Minwax. On this trunk are two new Amish tan leather handles. Also on the trunk are the two original latches to keep the lid secure and the original stay to help keep the lid open when needed. We also attached a new lock with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. This is a higher end trunk as there is leather on all the ... moreedges. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. We have also applied polyurethane to the bottom to give it a new refinished look. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed. It could also be used by a college student to store things in. The size of this trunk measures 34 1/2"length x 20"width x 13" height. The two of us love refinishing trunks bringing back the beauty into a piece from the past. IGB Antique Steamer Trunk
Was a beautiful steamer trunk until the Boulder Flood. Approximately 4' long. 2-1/2' wide, and 3' high. The trunk was on it's end when the flood hit, and you can see from the pictures the water marks and some discoloration from the mold. There are two top trays, very usable, and the trunk itself is still fine. The lock broke from the inside and I had to have locksmiths drill a hole into the lock to open the trunk. The leather handle on one side sat in the water for around 3 weeks, and may either need to be replaced, or soaked and treated to make it usable. A good cleaning with soapy water and allowing it to air out will allow it to be almost back to original. I know nothing about the manufacturer or the date of manufacture. Will still close securely. But cannot be locked unless the lock is replaced. Love the trunk and it has ... moreserved me very well for many years. Have no room for it now.

Antique Rare M M Secor Original Leather Trunk. This is a beautiful old rare original MM Secor of Racine. WI leather trunk for stagecoach, train, steamship traveling. It is leather over wood with four roller wheels. It is circa 1866-1900. The exterior leather has a beautiful soft patina with beautiful hand hammered copper rivets. This trunk has some scratches and stains and discoloration but overall it is just beautiful. MM Secor was established in 1861 and was the first trunk maker in the US. Please have a close look at all of the photos. Two of the of the leather handles are missing and I will leave it to the new owner to replace with the correct leather handles. Two of the four roller wheel brackets on the sides have screws in them instead of the original copper rivets, these can easily be changed back. Inside it is mostly complete with ... morethe exception of some missing straps and small hardware, another easy fix. The trunk has all original hardware in good condition but the key is missing. ANTIQUE LOUIS VUITTON 1896 made in France Steamer Trunk stenciled"MARYBACON WASHINGTON D.C. Only two family owners. A well travelled Louis Vuitton Medium Steam Trunk. We sent to the Heritage Department.Louis Vuitton,Paris,France pictures of our trunk which has been in our family since the1930s. They verified that it was indeed made in 1896, the 20th and last year for the grey trianon canvas covering. With a little more research we found that that was the years that Louis' son began to make the steamer trunks with the brown fleur de lis/LV canvas. This may have been one of the last Trianons. It is one of the first that Georges brought to the U.S. with him to tour cities and decide where to sell his Trunks in the U.S. The first few stores were in New York. Philadelphia and Washington D.C. This trunk was purchased by Mary Bacon who ... morewas a part of the U.S. Constitutional Congress. The story has it that Mary and Mrs. Richards, the wife of a family member who was a Copper Mining magnet,both travelled to South America, the Orient and Europe and that she acquired the trunk through this relationship. Size: 35'x 22' x21' Condition: Good- for its function(travel by ship) and age.Very good! In my opinion. There is evidence of water on the sides of the trunk. The bottom(slate? is stamped with Louis Vuitton etc. There are original stencils,LV impressed, lock, hinges, brass tacks, and original canvas, wood, handles,wood frame of trunk,red and white striped interior and lid interior.The metal bottom corners need repair as does the canvas,the brass tacks need cleaning as does other metal work.The interior wallpaper needs attachment and inserts added. This is a RARE steamer trunk made by Henry Likely& Co. Rochester. New York/ It was made expressly for R.H. MACY& Co. New York and has the red Macy's star on the tag. It is in need of restoration. All of the wood and metal hardware are intact, including the Eagle lock(minus the key) All of the leather and canvas in and out is missing or tattered. This is an old hump Back Dome Top style Steamer Trunk. As far as I can tell. It is all original. The original paper lining is intact alng with the wood tray. The tray does have a half-moon shaped mouse chew at one end(see pic) The underside of the lid has the original print. It measures 30" Wide x 21.5" Tall x 16.25" deep. One the exterior.
