It would look great in a warehouse loft apartment. It is in display condition but has issues as a useable trunk. Both of the old leather side handles are missing. The large front center hinge lock works fine but I do not have a key for this trunk and don't know if the lock works. Both of the side front locks have issues but display well. There are no interior drawers. The interior shows it's age but would be great for storage. It measures as follows. It is 28 inches wide, 17 inches deep and 19 inches tall. You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The trunk is still 100% solid. This trunk will make a killer repurpose project, you just need to use your imagination, is it a small table, a small storage trunk for a big city loft apartment? This is a rare. Restored hat trunk with its original canvas cover and handles. It measures 24 X 21 X 19 inches and has its original working lock with key. On the inside of the lid, there is an old repair, made with tin, that is strong and tight. It has a tag(which will be enclosed in the trunk when shipped) from the Vanderbilt Hotel in New York. The trunk was owned by a Mr. Lew Sturdevant. This Antique Steamer Trunk is in good condition. Being used as an end table for over 20 years. I do not have experience grading antiques, so please look at photos for the best description. All sides, top and bottom, of the trunk are solid and sturdy. All hinges and hardware are solid, but note that lock is open, and there is no key. This is an excellent piece for restoration. Large Wardrobe Trunk Full Size Antique Vintage Steamer Chest like LV circa 1911
A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made. And equipped with beautiful oak slats and ball castors on the bottom end. This fine trunk is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made in the same style of the famous much more expensive ones. It measures 46" x 23" x 25" The same or better quality as the French examples. I recommend Uship or Plycon for shipping from postal code 13066. Weight about 125 lbs.

Antique Late 1800's Dome Top Humpback Steamer Trunk Hardwood Slats
A large hump back antique steamer trunk that dates to approximately the late 1800's. It measures 31" long X 20" wide x 27' high(at the highest point in the center of the lid) It's covered with tin and there are attractive hardwood slats that have developed a beautiful patina over the past century. The wood slats and tin are all held in place with brass tacks and very ornate hardware. The wood and metal on this trunk has taken a lot of abuse but these were made to stand up to even the roughest handling and the trunk is still basically nice and sturdy. The trunk used to be lined with paper but it's either been taken off or it's worn off over the years and now it's pretty much just down to bare wood. Which will make it easier to work with when you go to restore it prior to placing linens or blankets in it for ... morestorage. The trunk is nice in dry inside and there are no moth ball odors, just a dry dusty odor that reminds me of the attic in my grandmother's home many many years ago. If you'd like to store things inside most folks like to sand down the interior and then seal it or line it with cedar which eliminates any lingering odors.The hasps on the front do not close tightly because the lid does not fit properly. The leather handles need to be replaced and the original wood tray is missing. The bottom of the trunk has 2 plain hardwood slats running across the edges over black tin and there are 3 small metal wheels on the bottom corners(one is missing and needs to be replaced) these little metal wheels make it easy to move around on any flat hard surface. We are unsure if the lock works properly because there is no key so it will be shipped in the open position. Victorian Leather Steamer Trunk Antique Chest 1854 - 1860 Ex Original Features
Victorian Authentic Leather Steamer Trunk This 150-year-old antique leather-covered trunk dates to the 1850s or 1860s and is distinctive in its well-preserved tooled leather covering with diamond and square embossed designs. One of the larger trunks of its era. The leather dometop measures 34 inches long, 20 1/2 inches wide and stands 25 inches tall at the peak of its dome. The leather covering is in excellent condition. The interior is clean, and although it is heavy, it rolls easily on two original and two replacement rollers. Importantly. The original leather handles are in excellent condition- a rare find for any antique trunk- and it features the authentic working key for the brass locking plate. The trunk originated in Lovell. Mass. and in its original condition featured two interior trays covered with paper, a paper-covered interior ... morelid compartment with drop down stationery door, and Victorian lithographs. The artwork on the lid compartment door showed a couple dancing in a rural outdoor setting. The other lid art depicted four ladies in Victorian gowns, presumably attending a dance or party. Unfortunately, the condition of the paper lining could not preserve the original artwork, but photocopies of the lithographs and blue ribbon trim are included in this sale and could be used for reattachment, if desired. The trunk’s exterior had two leather belts and buckles(one leather strap is missing- the trunk's only flaw) and a working brass lock plate and key. A tag about the size of a business card and bearing the name of perhaps the last owner was tacked to one end. The tag was penned by hand and read: Mrs. Wm W. West St. Louis Missouri When the tag was removed. The reverse side was imprinted with the name"Chauncey, 10 Dearborn Street, in script type. But the remainder of the address, if any, is missing. This could be the trunk’s manufacturer. Or just a merchant’s card that Mrs. Smith used to label her trunk for identification. RARE Antique Henry Pollack Vtg 2 tone Leather Steamer Trunk w/ ALL compartments
I purchased this trunk at a sale in Santa Fe about 4-5 summers ago. This is by far the most remarkable travel steamer trunk I have ever seen. It is entirely covered in leather. Even the bottom. Instead of the usual wooden"straps" across the sides and top, this trunk has beige leather straps crossing the top and sides. The bottom does have the wood approx. 2" wide straps on the bottom. These tan leather on the top, front and sides are affixed with hundreds of brass round head tacks. The skin leather is a rich brown. It is thick and slightly weathered with a few cracks in the leather but I have kept it oiled and soft. The inside is equally as remarkable with 2 removable compartments. Both compartments have everything with them they came with. the top compartment has 3 leather straps with snaps that keep it shut. It can be opened ... moreby folding the lid back once or twice. The snaps read Polly Brand on them making them the original snaps. It also is complete with brass handles on the sides. Both compartments along with the entire interior has the original linen striped covering. The second compartment is complete as well with original linen ties. 4 brackets to keep it resting on both sides.everything is there. The woman I bought this from said a relative owned it during the war but I don't remember if she told me which war or I just never asked. In any case. I don't know. There are minor imperfections with this trunk, all of which I've noted but the leather skin, the leather straps, the brass tacks, the compartments.make this trunk Wonderful and Rare. It is a terrific decor piece as a stand alone. This trunk measures 32 1/4" long x 20 1/4" deep x 20" tall. I'm sure it weighs around 50 plus pounds. Eveleigh Baggage Canada's best since 1870" Under the outer lid, there is an insert which reveals the main compartment when removed. Trunk is fully intact except the centre buckle needs repairing. One rear hinge needs tightening, the right-side leather strap is torn. Otherwise this is in great shape inside and out. Please take a look at the pictures to determine condition! This trunk is from the late 1920's, very clean, comes from a smoke free& pet free home. Outer dimensions are approx. 36" wide x 23" high x 21" deep There is very little information available about this company. It seems that one John Eveleigh was born in Hereford. England in 1765, moving to Ireland ... morewhere all of his children were born before emigrating to Montreal, Quebec. One of his descendants, Joseph, remained in this city and founded the luggage company in 1870. In the days of lengthy travel by steamship and rail, there was obviously a huge demand for traveler's trunks. As the automobile and then the aircraft gained ascendancy as a mode of travel, luggage needs changed and perhaps Eveleigh did not adapt to this. The company was bought out in 1957 by the J.E. Lortie Company, also of Montreal, which had begun in 1892 as a saddlery business, eventually turning to the manufacture of leather pole-climbing belts and straps needed by workers erecting the the rapidly expanding electricity and telegraph lines. The Lortie company went on to manufacture canvas goods such as dunnage bags and army webbing during World War II, to which they added the Eveleigh product line when they acquired that company. Today, Lortie is known as Jelco, and specializes in fall-protection equipment. I will be listing a number of various pieces from 1930's-1970's. Plain wooden interior(the paper lining was removed at some point) This trunk is lacking its till. There once was lettering on the left side. But this has been blacked out as shown(nicely done some time ago) This is a very nice antique trunk in good usable condition for storage or as a coffee table. The exterior shows the character of more than a century of age and use. Which includes cosmetic marks, scratches, scuffs, and oxidation(rust patina) and rust to the metal surfaces(all of which looks cool to me) I cleaned and oiled the exterior and it looks great now(while still showing it's wear and age characteristics) The metalwork, leather, wood, and canvas surfaces all have a great patina(except where the lock is- see below) There originally were four rollers underneath. Two are missing and will scratch your floor if not dealt with. The lock looks functional. But we lack the key. This is a rare. Meticulously restored hat trunk with its original canvas cover and heavy duty leather handles. It measures 24 X 21 X 19 inches and has its original working lock with key. On the inside of the lid, there is an old repair, made with tin, that is strong and tight. It has a tag(which will be enclosed in the trunk when shipped) from the Vanderbilt Hotel in New York. The trunk was owned by a Mr. Lew Sturdevant. These smaller trunks, those that aren't moldy and in disrepair, but are clean, strong and ready to use, are very difficult to find and have the versatility that larger trunks don't have as they can be moved by one person and don't take up a lot of space. I believe this antique steamer trunk is from the 1800's. But can't be positive. Marked on the side of the trunk is"GEB St. Louis Mo. Another marking looks like the number 12 with a circle around it. It could be restored and repaired. But looks great and stores a lot of stuff the way it is. I have paperback books in it right now, but have also stored photo albums and blankets in it. The trunk measures approximately 37" long x 24" high x 21" wide. It's lined with fabric. Has wooden ribbing and metal hardware. There probably used to be leather straps but they are no longer there. The top needs to be held up so it doesn't drop down or back. The trunk is for local pick-up only in Asheboro. North Carolina.

Dome top steamer chest/trunk. Bride or wedding trunk, or ship/stagecoach travel trunk. Of wood and metal construction, metal embossed outer layer, wood slat trim, most of the original antique hardware embellishments, a number of the pieces stamped Pat Mar 168(may or may not be a partial patent date- please see detail below from a restorer clearly more knowledgeable than I am) ADDITIONAL AND INTERESTING INFORMATION provided by a very nice and knowledgeable Ebayer(a steamer trunk restorer) who indicates. The specific embossing on the tin exterior is referred to as an"alligator pattern" Not very common. Lithographs(yours appear to be original) were not developed and put on trunks until the mid 1800's. Trunks made in the 1600's were made primarily of animal skin.Which rarely survived due to their deteriation. Also that style ... moreof lock was manufactured in mid to late 1800's. Also the embossed tin covering, the 2 front latches with the + were not made until that same time period. What the 3 numbers on the trunk are for, I don't know, but Definetly not a patent# which many trunks have on the lock. All the interior compartments are intact. With original linen-type covering over the compartment lids, with original pictorial lithographs and elaborate borders. Original graphic paper lining also intact on the underside of the compartment lids and the bottom section of the trunk– see condition in photos. The spots of discoloration in places may be rust coming through from the metal; bidder to determine. There are 5 compartments in the upper section– two in the lid, and 3 in the top tray which includes one long compartment across the back(try to ignore the glaring blue felt lining in the compartments and bottom of the trunk, but note that I did not lift it to see what’s underneath) Please check all views of the photos for condition of the outer embossed skin/metal/wood(a few dents and splits in the metal but I didn’t see missing sections anywhere) Missing or replaced hardware(looks like a few pieces are

We have a very unique historical Swiss Red Cross Trunk offered. It's nice because we have historical information attached to the trunk- we have a signed document which will be included with the trunk which gives an interesting history to the piece. In case you are unable to clearly read the document- summary as follows: The prior owner of the trunk is 70+ years old and obtained the trunk around 1970. He had a tenant. At the time, of Hungarian descent who had come to the U.S. from Hungary via Switzerland.
