Extremely unusual in that the sides fold down allowing one to access the shirt compartments freely. A trunk of this nature was custom built for a client upon request. This is a wonderful trunk for the collector. Another won’t come along again soon. Size: 19(48.26 cm) wide by 13(33.02 cm) tall by 17-½ inches(44.45 cm) Condition: Some scuffs and cracks to canvas. See images. A few small brads are pushing or have pushed through the canvas. The lock was replaced with a later yale lock which retains a key. The handle was replaced before it gave out the last time, you can see the ghost of the last attachment. There is a ghost of the previous owners initials below the current red ones. This fine piece of luxury luggage is in very good vintage condition with wear consistent with it's age and use. It is a wood strapped. Cloth bound, steamer trunk covered in the classic and desirable LV monogram canvas exterior. The trunk's interior label. Stating it's Paris and London origins, is perfectly intact. The adjacent stamped serial or maker's#143620 is easily readable and suggests a best guess date of production to be circa early 1900's. The trunk measures approximately 43" wide, 22" deep, and 23" tall. There is also the family name of"Gemley" imprinted clearly on both ends of the trunk. The cloth interior of the trunk is very clean and in very good condition. It is free of rips. Tears, or splits, and there are no stains or odors. This same description applies to the 2 interior trays ... moreor drawer inserts. The 2 levels of storage compartment trays are fully intact including all woven straps, tie downs, and carrying handles. The trunk's exterior is in good to very good overall condition. All Louis Vuitton factory marked tacks are intact and accounted for. The two metal side carrying handles are still intact. Secure, and strong. The trunk's bottom is in great condition and the wood support bars are intact and not split or broken. The Key to the trunk's lock has been lost to history, like it's original owner's memories of long ago travel. The LV Steamer Trunk's"Character" disclosure description is as follows: The leather closure strap or the strap that went around the whole depth of the trunk is. As is very common with trunks of this era, broken off at the front clasp in both directions. There are three"broken" pieces of this strap included with the trunk) There are also a few marks on the trunk's exterior material that appear to be wear marks or scuff marks and are not to be confused as water damage, mold or mildew. Antique Steamer Travel Trunk Wardrobe 5 Drawer Chest with hanger bar Vtg Up for auction is a neat old steamer trunk. This is still in good. Solid condition. It has 5 drawers on the right, and hanging clothes storage in the right. There are some peach colored stripes painted on the outside of it, and the latches were painted gold. We don't think this is orginal paint. The lock is not working and there is no key included, but the latches still hold the trunk down. There are some scuffs on the side and bottom as shown in the photos, but these only add character to this trunk which has likely has travelled thousands of miles. Louis Vuitton Rare Small Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Painted Stripes 1900's Here is an antique wardrobe trunk. Smaller then most which I assume means more rare. This wardrobe is 13" high, 22" deep. And 40.5" long. There is some tarnishing of the tacks, and discoloration of the leather strip around a few tacks on the base only. We assume it was stored standing up on the base. It definitely has some slight mildew on the lower two drawers and the interior has a musty odor. From our research. It looks as though all the small parts and pieces are there. There is some slight pitting on the top metal hanging hardware. Inside three of the drawers are somebody's initials as seen in photos. This is absolutely beautiful very nice decorative refinished dome top hump back steamer trunk from the late 1800's. The particular d imensions for this are 28" length. 16 1/2" width and 18 1/2" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. This would also make a wonderful Christmas gift for you or someone that you cherish. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began ... moreby taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and on the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We also found on the metal a patented date of March 16. 1872. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we installed a new lock with 2 working keys. The lid has the original picture and original label. The label has written on in"Baer's Evansville Trunk Factory" Evansville. Up for sale is this vintage or antique early 20th century humpback trunk. The front. Back and top have metal panels with a reptile skin texture. The side metal panels are smooth with a blue tint. The humpback top has wood banding. There is metal banding on the edges. It has metal one directional wheels on the bottom. There is extensive patina on the metal and wear on the wood finish. Part of the metal lid strip is missing on the front corner, and the leather handles are missing. It has 2 broken hinges and the inside shows use wear as in soiling, filth, staining. The lid on the insert is detached but is included with the trunk. It has a strong smell of moth balls. The lock does not latch and we do not have the key. However, the other 2 latches do function. The wardrobe side even has its Original Wooden Hangers that are built right in and an ingenious Slide Bar so you can decrease the area as the size of your clothing dictates. Below the wardrobe is a fold down box which we assume was for shoes. To the Right is a 4 Drawer Dresser with Drawers for even more storage. The drawers are all relatively narrow given the trunk's size but they are all Extra Deep! Outside. For sale is a huge 1800's immigrant steamer trunk. Best guess is German or Swiss. Has a man's name on the top, AUGUST GEUNERT. NEW YORK. I bought it in Pa. At an antique store. They said it belonged to a Doctor. In Philadelphia.They bought this and several Hepple White pieces. From his estate. It is massive. 45 inches wide,22 deep, and 25 1/2 inches tall. And weighs about 75 pounds. Has a some issues with the wood. Please see photo's. Most are the 1/4 inch trim that surrounds. The lid base. A very easy fix for a carpenter. Antique CHILD'S DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Metal Over Wood, 3 Wooden Drawers & Hangers
This is a wonderful antique streamer truck/chest for doll's clothes. A toy most girls had to have at the turn of the 20th century. I'm not sure how old the trunk is. It is made of thin metal over wood and the metal reacts to a magnet. The trunk has a center key lock(non working) and 2 metal clasp brass colored steel(magnetic) All 4 corners have the same brass colored metal with tacks. There is a black metal band along the center edge with grommets or tacks. A leather strap embossed with the number 22 allows for easy carrying by an adult as the trunk weighs 16 pounds when empty. The handle is sturdy but has light surface cracks. In its upright position. The trunk opens to a wooden interior with 3 stacked drawers and a side for hanging the clothes. It does come with the 7 original wooden hangers(one is missing from the picture) The ... moredrawers can be removed and are stack-able within the trunk space. Slight loss of the blue paint on the edges of the right side. The trunk measures 22" tall x 12" x 12" There is a blank metal tag on the top near the handle. Could this have been a salesman's sample where the owner would have their name engraved on the plate? There is overall a light surface of rust. A Ladycomet Nice Refinished Victorian Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key
Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key Here is a nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has a very fancy working lock. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and make it look nice. The wood is in pretty good condition considering the age of this trunk and there are some typical stress cracks in the base wood. We have shown a close up picture of some of these stress cracks on the top. The majority of the trunks have similar stress cracks. This trunk maker did a nice job of running metal banding ... moreon this trunk. By doing so, it gives the trunk a nice wooden sectioned appearance. Some of the metal banding was missing, so we have filled these areas with glue to make up for the missing banding. The front latches are original cast iron ones and do work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. Someone has added a lock hasp on the front of the trunk next to the fancy lock. We decided to leave it there since it appears to be fairly old and you could use a padlock with this hasp to secure the lid of the trunk to the base in addition to the fancy working lock. The lock is fancy in which it has embossed and carved patterns on it. There is a close up picture showing this unique lock. We did match up a key that does work with this lock. We are calling this trunk a flat top, although this trunk has a very slight factory arch to the top which is noticeable in ths close up side view picture. Up for auction is a very old antique"METAL STEAMER TRUNK" with"2 ORIGINAL KEYS" Numbers on the keys is"T46" and the"ORIGINAL TUFFER TAG" on the front. The lock on the front is a"LONG" lock. This trunk is actually in pretty good shape especially the insides. Please see pictures! The original tag on the front says: TUFFER LUGGAGE 21W, STANDARD TRUNK AND SUITCASE CO. LOS ANGELES, CALIF. Refinished antique steamer trunk circa late 1890’s. Early 1900’s with original hardware. This has a wonderful flat top surface, perfect use for a table or at the bottom of a bed. Plus it is nice and roomy, excellent for extra storage. The inside has been stripped of the original paper. Brass colored hardware and front lock, no key. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. Up for sale is this unique large flat top trunk. It has amazing folk art black lines painted on the brass all original. The outside is green and in pretty decent shape which is original as well. the inside has original insert and wallpaper. This trunk stored yarn all its life almost so it has no musty smell at all. You could use this right away its that clean. It measures 23x37x21 a great size would be a great coffee table. The only thing missing is the lock which the elder lady said fell out 20 years ago. Antique Steamer Trunk Pressed Tin Curved Hardwood Slats w/ Original Tray + Keys
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique steamer trunk with a domed lid. The original tray and two keys. The top of the trunk has beautiful curved hardwood slats held in place with brass tacks. It has two leather handles that are in very good condition, brass plated hardware and pretty medallion trim. The trunk has a plain black metal covering with embossed tin(acorn pattern) on the top, down the front and partially down the sides and back. The latches on either side of the lock read' PAT-JUL 97' and the lock is marked' LONG LOCK CO. The trunk comes with its original tray with a pretty cover on one side and the entire inside, including the tray, is lined with an attractive patterned paper. The bottom is also metal covered and has two plain hardwood slats running the length on each side. There are three small metal wheels near ... moreeach corner(one is missing) that make the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. There is some surface rust here and there but nothing serious and no rust through(no holes) It measures approximately 32" long X 23" high at the highest point near the center X 18" wide. The two keys do not appear to be original to this trunk but they work perfectly, the previous owner's family probably had to find a locksmith to open it because once it's closed it's automatically locked, the keys will be placed in an envelope and taped to the outside so you can get it open when it arrives.

Chest came from a 71 year old women. It belonged to her Grandmother from when she came from Italy to the United States. Wood is wrapped with what looks like tin. Light green color with silver.
