It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Up for auction is this huge(39x23x26. LxWxH) Steamer trunk that has just been refinished. It has been stripped to the bare wood on the inside and out and is a very clean trunk. It is as solid a trunk as you will find anywhere and very heavy. It appears that it is made of 2 different types of wood as what you see on the very top, lower front and lower back is a darker color that that of what you see on the sides and the front and back of the top itself. This old guy is a rare find in that it still has most of the original teal green color still prevalent. It is 30" Long and 12" Tall and 16" wide. It is metal all around with spots a rust and the bottom has rusted through in two small spots. Both leather straps are intact and they are original. Vintage or Antique Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Travel Steamer Trunk Suitcase
This is an antique or vintage Hartmann Tourobe made in Racine WI travel wardrobe trunk. Trunk measures about 35" x 20" x 12" This has been used. There are surface scratch/rub marks on the outside of the trunk, the leather handle is broken off, the closures work but there is not a key to lock them. Trunk is has markings on the end that say Lt. Comdr. Johnstone MCVS U.S.N.R. on the end and a sticker that says Gibalterized. The Hartmann Tourobe Racine Wi sticker is intact. There are travel stickers attached to the outside and a tag that says Railway Express, Inc. War Won't Wait, if that helps to date it. This outside is black with metal, and not sure what the main material is, maybe a pressed wood. The inside is blue with 3 compartments on the fold down side, 2 of the compartments have cloth ties, the top cloth part folds ... moreover and snaps at the end, snap pieces are intact. The other side has 2 wood hangers and the metal pieces that hold the hangers fold in to hold the hangers and can be folded out when the trunk is opened. There are some water marks on the cloth cover of the fold out part and a musty smell to the inside of the trunk. The red stripes on the outside of the trunk do have rub marks.

Cleaned stained and has 2 coats of laquer. The wood is slick and smooth, you will not find many trunks with as smooth finish as this trunk. Physically it is in good condition but obviously it has been used through the years. Measurements, left to right =L 30 1/2" front to back=D 18 5/8"from bottom(floor) to top of trunk=H 21" Tray measures L 28 1/2, D 16 5/8, H 5 1/8. This trunk weighs 39.6 pounds. This is a great antique trunk that at one time was used by Lumpee& Russ Harness Makers; I cannot make out the rest of the wording. The trunk is structurally solid. The valet tray has two holes but this could be nicely refinished. The top tray has two sections with one that does have the leather/button loop closure intact. There is no key in the locking mechanism that was made by Yale Towne MFG out of Stamford. Conn. It weighs just under 55 pounds. This is being sold as is. If you live on the I-5 corridor on the west coast(Washington, Oregon and California) I have a shipper. RARE* Antique George B Bains& Sons Trunk These trunks are quite hard to find these days since few have survived their travels…and this is one lucky survivor since originally they were intended to be light weight but they weren't very strong. This one is in very worn condition. The original decorative brass lock is beautiful and extremely rare. The lock is marked Pat’D May 1870 and Sept 1887. The lock was made by the Star Lock Works which was established in Philadelphia in 1869(formerly C. Liebrich. An early American locksmith who started in 1836) Inside the trunk is the original maker's label of George B. Bains and Sons, a successful trunk maker in Philadelphia for many years. Inside is a removable upper shelf insert to reveal more trunk space in the bottom. The bottom has condition issues and the outer straps are missing. There ... moreis no key for the lock. There are initials M. E. W. on the side of the trunk and a sticker on the side that reads Pennsylvania Railroad Company Broad St. Station Storage Room M. Train 190(Broad Street Station(demolished in 1953) was the primary passenger terminal for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1881 to the 1950’s. I'm guessing it is from early 1900s or possibly late 1800s. Item is located in Newark. Delaware and can be picked up locally or can be shipped but buyer is to pay actual shipping costs. Up For Sale is this awesome antique trunk. It has M.F.M. initialed on the side. The trunk is very solid and has a lot of character. It is a green color. It only has a slight arch on the top. So it would be great for a coffee table or to store blankets and such. It is good shape for the time and could be easily restored. There is no structural damage. The only damage is that on of the latches is missing some pieces and the leather is worn. Both of the handles are intact, but as you can see in the photo one is coming apart. Up for bid is an extremely rare and beautiful 1800's VICTORIAN WOOD AND CAST IRON HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK. This is a old wood trunk that is very majestic in appearance. It is beautifully crafted of an inner wood body covered in beautiful black metal sheet. Fantastic wooden bumper panels on all sides, even more so fantastic cast iron metal work of every latch, hinge, and edge trimming throughout trunk(including bottom which has small cast iron wheels) One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous trunk is the original 1800's lock and latch, it absolutely beautiful. Inside of trunk is extremely spacious and has a very clear, bold original colored illustration of a beautiful Victorian era woman starring off into the distance. The trunk itself measures at 34 1/2" long. 20" wide and 23 1/2" tall, and is what I consider, a larger ... moretrunk. It has aging wear but it has fantastically aged, could be easily used for display or everyday use as well as it is very sturdy and well built. Only thing to repair is one rear hinge that has broken from where it attaches bottom of trunk to lid, but hinge bodies on both lid and bottom are firmly attached to trunk with no damage, it is very fixable as it is a clean break of the thin metal of latch(See pictures) I have given a very accurate description of this astonishing steamer trunk and I have provided pictures of all angles for your viewing and bidding certainty. Beautiful 1890's Antique Steamer Trunk Very nice larger sized antique trunk from the 1880's- 1890's. This trunk has been 100% professionally restored and is absolutely beautiful. The hardware and metal banding has all be cleaned and polished with a wire wheel and really looks nice against the oak slats and pine body. The top has a slight dome to it so this is not a true flat top trunk. Very solid trunk all around. Heavy wood construction, thick metal banding, hardware, and accents. Very nicely built, hinges are strong, all hardware is included. This trunk has more decorative hardware than your typical trunk from this period and the"fingers" that wrap all the corner edges really add a nice touch. A Ladycomet Refinished Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key
Fancy Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Hidden Interior Compartment Area Here is a beautiful refinished dome top trunk from the late 1800's that we have just finished up on. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 1/2 inches. We removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards, and the dome top looks like early birch ply. We have prepared and finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to preserve it and make it nice. The wood is in decent condition considering the age of this trunk, and you can see some saw blade marks on the ... moreboards at the front of the trunk which are from the rough cut lumber which was used on this trunk back in the 1800's. This trunk maker put a nice amount of fancy hardware on this dome top. All of the metal parts which are on this trunk are not brass. We have brush painted the metal parts by hand in black and gold leaf. There are some patent dates on the fancy cap metal near the dome. It is hard to make out the exact date, although we have shown a close up picture of this patent date. We have given this trunk a lock off of a parts trunk since it was missing the lock when we purchased it. The lock we installed does work properly and comes with the appropriate key. The front latches are original on this trunk and do work ok since the springs are in good shape. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, this trunk has a nice feature which is the hidden compartment are on the underside of the dome. We have recreated the door that drops down to show this area. Nice antique miniature steamer trunk in what appears to be good condition except that the top is only connected to the bottom by the strap on inside. The paper appears to be torn in many places and has some missing in spots. The trunk doesn't appear to have had a tray. There doesn't seem to be any runners for a tray to sit on nor does it appear that they are missing. There is no key to the trunk. Trunk is approx. 10" wide by 7 1/2" tall by 7" deep. Vintage National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Titanic NVF antique
This auction is for a beautiful antique wardrobe steamer trunk made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Company. The construction of these trunks bearing the indian-head label date back to the late 1800s into the early 1900s. This particular piece has been stored in my moms attic since she and my dad purchased their house in 1965 from an old couple who had lived in the home since i was built in 1924. I'm estimating the age of this trunk to be anywhere between 90 and 100 years old. As seen in the pictures the trunk had been only slightly used and does not show any signs of travel use. It shows signs of oxidation on the metal parts and slightly on the vulcanized material. The leather handle has not worn out and is still in good condition bearing the number 524-22. This extremely rare and most sought after HAND PAINTED monogram canvas circa early 1900's is a special order steamer trunk from the legendary trunk maker Louis Vuitton and is simply amazing. There are obvious signs of wear that one would expect from a trunk that is over 100 years old but that just adds to the character and charm of the trunk. This can probably be removed by using some safe material if desired but I think that just adds to the history and looks just fine in my opinion. The serial number of this is 040079 and lock number is 778687. Overall this trunk is solid and in great shape as you can see in the pictures. It has brass clasps and lock with leather trim which is very desirable. The bottom of the lock looks as though it was once removed and then put back with screws- please see the picture I have of the lock. It is not noticeable but I thought to just mention it anyways. Well worn and used on the outside, all corners and metal details intact. There are no bottom corners of metal, flat on bottom. Unsure on date and name of manufacturer. Unit measures: 36" wide, 18" deep, 19.5" high, not including the rope handles in measurements. Rope handles. Approx 40lbs, this is for local pickup or you need to send a call tag from UPS or Fedex Ground. I cannot wrap it perse, but I will try to protect it for you the best I can with a layer of cardboard if you want it shipped. What a find! Old steamer trunk. Please examine the photos closely. The trunk is definitely showing its age. leather handles on the side are toast but they are still there. Lock bears the eagle lock co name. It is wood and tin. Lots of tin covers most of the chest and it is adorned with the pattern you see. It has lots of character! 34" x 17.25" x 18" There is rust. There is worn/missing tin etc. I did not attempt to clean etc and have not even carried it by it's handles, I hold the whole thing. The little wheels on the bottom are janky but they work and moved around easy surprisingly. Anyone who has more information on this trunk that I could add would be appreciated. This chest may be a Jenny Lind(the top of the line for its time) due to the keyhole in front(no key included; has a lock. But whoever had the key locked the latch-trunk still opens and shuts, just doesn't lock without key, but has latches on each side) but I can not positively identify it as a Jenny Lind. I am unsure what type of wood this chest is made of, but it is dated circa 1880-1910 due to the embossed metal coverings, and the fact that the low flat tops were created beginning in 1880. This is a very hard to find 3-slat topped chest, as most for sale are only 2 slats. It has hardwood staves with metal trim and added hardware. The inside has the pins left for holding the cloth that used to be inside. It would make a great antique collector's addition, or could even be made into a table! This is a ca. 1885 Antique refinished metal covered flat top trunk. All parts are original. It is 28.5"x 17"x 20"tall and weighs 40 lbs. It is sometimes called a monitor or waterfall trunk. The lock is marked Pat`d April 15. 1879 and the slat caps are marked Pat`d March 1880. The key has been lost. It is clad with metal with oak slats. It is possible that it was made by Charles Taylor, New York. The interior is very unusual. It has a double tray hinged system that slides out of way on steel runners. Antique Refinished Steamer Trunk Ca. 1870's -1880's
Up for auction today we have recently refinished slightly curved top trunk antique steamer trunk that has been freshly refinished inside and outside. Dating to the 1870's- 1880's. This trunk is heavy and solid. It measures: 30 x 19 x 21.5 inches and weighs approximately 45 pounds. The dried canvas was removed to highlight the gorgeous wood underneath. The wood was sanded smooth a handful of times. And then stained with Golden Oak, then a coat of Tung Oil, and a two coats of Satin Polyurethane to seal it- a very nice smooth finish. The metal ware was not painted. Handles are still there with original end caps. Side has the initials of P.E. L, and Andover, ME on one of the slats. My sweet mom lined the inside with one of my favorite fabrics. A nice reddish gold cotton fabric- looks just amazing and ready to store blankets, linens, photographs, ... moreimportant documents, and what ever other treasures you might have. This size trunk is great as an end table or under a window for plants- with being slightly curved top, you still can place your coffee cup on it with no worries. Great for books, magazines, coffee table books, etc. The back of this trunk has added interesting hinges- these hinges look to have been added after the trunk was made. Not sure when, but they are the style that makes a trunk not need a lid stay- the top will open all the way and these hinges prevent the trunk from bending back to far. Beautiful Black Wood Slat Flat Top Antique Steamer Trunk
This is an absolutely gorgeous antique steamer trunk. As you can see in the photos the wood really accentuates the black color. The wood is beautiful. Much of the leather remains although both side straps have rotted away which is very common in a trunk of this age. The metal accents. Rivets and corner pieces are very ornate. In it's day this was a very expensive trunk. One hing on the back is in need of slight repair. This is a beautiful Victorian 1800'S Hump Back Trunk with alligator-skin patterned tin exterior covering. It is totally original. It is untouched, unmolested by refinishers or restorators, it has not be polished and has no replacement parts. Condition: Hinges are original and untampered. All of the hinges work fine. The trunk opens freely and shuts tightly. All of the wooden slates are in great condition. There is one wheel missing on the bottom and it still rolls nicely on three wheels. The leather handles are in good condition and have not deteriorated. The metal adornment on the trunk's exterior adds charm and character to the piece. This is a higher quality trunk.
