It had been leather covered ... morewhen new, because I can see the evidence of the leather in several places. Picture#11 shows the leather still remaining at the top edge of the chest. The dimensions are: Length- 19" Height- 14" Depth- 9" This is the wood box dimension, without adding for the hardware. The lock and latches are Eagle Lock Co. Terryville,CT. There is no key. The handle has to be the original leather covered one and the leather is not in good shape, but it certainly fits with the age of the chest. All of the latches, hinges and lock are complete and work fine, except for the missing key. For those of you who know more about this. I'm sure you can identify the brand from the drawer knobs and diamond shaped back plates on them. I'm sure it has been sanded and finished, probably at the time the leather was removed. Although the wood surface probably wasn't original, it looks like pine to me, and looks nice with the varnished surface. Please email me with any questions you might have.
