This particular stylized geometric rendition of the ROSE is a classic of the Arts& Crafts Movement which featured star craftsmen like Gustav Stickley. Charles Limbert, Roycroft. The rug/blanket measures approx. 72" x 50" and is in excellent vintage pre-used condition.there are VERY minor thinner areas- NOT BY MUCH AND no holes at all. There is PINK stitching for no apparent reason(see photo 7) as there is no hole to patch- perhaps the maker of the rug planned to add some embellishments to that area but never finished. True to its history. The name and crosses have been“tacked” on several places, which adds a wonderful. Unique, flavor to this original piece. I have added question marks in several places due to the fact that I can’t be sure of age. Or the information on the card that was with the trunk. You decide. I believe it has the original stain finish and aged patina. Each side is made from a wide single chestnut plank board? Growth this size is becoming increasingly a thing of the past. Traditional hand made sides are dove tailed joined without nails. Lid is slightly warped. And is intact, but has loosened its side molding pieces. Beautiful Rare 1927 Antique Lane Cedar Hope Blanket Chest Style# 48910 This Lane Hope Chest was made on May. 9th 1927 In 1912 John Edward Lane bought a small packing-box plant in Altavista. Virginia at a bankruptcy auction for $500. Placed in charge of the small, corrugated iron building, his son Edward Hudson Lane decided to convert the facility in order to make cedar chests. The Lane family was unsure of what success they would have selling chests, so they originally named the company The Standard Red Cedar Chest Co. The firm manufactured and sold chests used to store linens and other items for setting up housekeeping, as well as keepsakes. Early production of about ten chests a day was sold through independent salesmen working on commission. In its early days. The business was run on a shoestring budget. This is an unusual and early blanket. Dating to somewhere between 1860 and 1900(informed guess) The blanket is brown wool and woven a little unevenly with some areas thicker than others. It has two black stripes on either end and like most early blankets no banding on the edges? There are 2 woven point marks in green and pink-There was once a label- where it was is still visible but the label is gone(last photo) The number 172 is stenciled on the blanket? It measures 83 by 60 inches(211 by 152 cm) There are two small holes(you can see them in the picture of the blanket held up) and a little dirt here and there? I think that this blanket is unusual- it is exceptionally early and very odd in terms of color and design.I Am not sure if it is military or meant for trade- I don't think that it was just for household use.

Enormous chest. Oak, heavy dark original patina, hand forged hardware, evidence of worm holes and early wood bore, none existing now) with thick solid planks of oak used in construction. Chest measures 77x281/2 x40 inches and weighs upwards of 400 pounds. Provenance: A European castle, possibly Germany. This piece came to the U.S. in the 1950's with Colonel William Shlitz, USA, and we have purchased from estate. Non smoking estate but there is evidence of purple paint to be removed on one edge(per the estate, the work of a small child) Most wood is upwards of 1 1/2 inches thick. It has a geometric 3 dimensional medallion design and border with flower motif on each side. Hand bound-rolled stitched on each side, a piece of fabric-bound for hanging was added. It dose have a center slit finish on both sides stitched up in middle of medallion-could be a women's serape-shawl-wearing blanket. It was similar to a Chimayo blanket I sold last year, gray background, dates from the 1930's or before. Over it is in good condition. Has a couple of pin size hole-minute larger holes-try to picture. Antique Chippendale MULE BLANKET CHEST Seventeenth Century PICK UP ONLY
PICK UP ONLY- 30 miles north of Nashville. TN on I-65 N- White House, TN Exit 108. According to a similar chest I saw in a Book of Antiques. This chest could be circa 1735. I'm not saying for sure it's Chippendale, but it looks exactly like another one on Ebay that is Chippendale. It is"grain painted" with brass colored hardware. I think the key holes are covered with real brass and are original. The pull hardware and hinges have been changed once thru the years. I’m not sure what kind of wood it’s made of. It is 41" high- 45" across and 19 ½" deep. It’s in great shape. The top half of chest is for blankets- the last half is two drawers. It’s from my grandmother’s estate. It was appraised at $900. I have for auction an antique rose and navy coverlet that had been in my grandmother's cedar chest for many years and was then passed down to my mother(I am 60 years old and my mother is deceased) It is approximately 68" X 80" It says"Ohio 1844" and is quite heavy. I can not authenicate the age of the coverlet. But know that it has been in the family for many years. It is in fairly good condition. There are no holes. If held up to the light, you can see some lighter areas that have worn. There are a couple of loose threads or"snags" and the center seam is beginning to separate in spots(I have tried to picture this) I see some darker areas and can't tell if they are soiled or simply discolored with age. EARLY 1800'S ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE BLANKET CHEST TRUNK DRAWERS GRAB LOCK
Here is a fabulous antique American early 19th century Chippendale style footed pine blanket chest or trunk with drawers below. This delightful old trunk is 48 inches long by 21 1/2 inches front to back and 27 1/2 inches tall. The top chest is internally 44 1/2 inches long by 18 1/4 inches front to back by 15 inches deep. With a small lidded compartment 18 1/4 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep as shown. The two lower drawers are hand dovetailed as shown in close ups and measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Again, as stated under condition, I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this great antique blanket chest. As far as provenance, my consignor has owned the trunk for a number of years and remembers ... moreonly that it was acquired through an estate sale. Specifically, this is what he told me was his recollection: The story I was told is that a woman named Bessie Hicks bought the trunk while visiting Muncie Valley PA in the 1950's after WWII. She brought it back to Atlanta GA where she lived. When her estate was broken up it made it's way to Miami and then to Charleston. He added. It appears to have some minor repairs around the feet. Also some sign of blue paint under the bottom. The lock is very fascinating and secured with rose head nails. Lock and key work nicely. That's about all I remember about it. Anyway. It's appearance is consistent with early 1800's Pennsylvania work in the Chippendale style so I chose to report this information. It is certainly a lovely antique blanket chest in very nice condition. Antique carriage pram crib doll baby blanket - wool squares, embroidered corner
This is a darling antique linen and I think it's all handmade. It is comprised of little 3 1/2" squares made of woven wool yarn that is variegated with a shiny thread giving a sparkle to the overall finish. The squares are woven and then crocheted or sewn together with the wool yarn. There is a 1/2" scalloped edge all handcrocheted to the border. Then. On one corner there is a large bouquet of pastel flowers done in yarn in shades of pink, blue and mint green held with a blue bow made of chainstitching. The flower embroidery is kind of a crewel work and is done on the top only- it does not go thru to the backside of the blanket. It is made so that when the baby is laid in the blanket. The sides would folded over and then the bottom folded up and this places the bouquet in a proper position on top of the little one. I gave a ... morepicture of it folded this way. How clever. This is a definite wool and might even be Lindsey-Woolsey material- It has that kind of'itchy' feel to it. CONCERNS: the last 3 pictures show some moth damage close to the edge on one square. A square that has some pulls to the thread and a small stain right on the edge(nothing bad) It is kind of a darker ivory color which I think maybe age-related darkening but don't know for sure. It measures 33" X 40" and measures 51" corner to diagonal corner. Nice addition to a collection of handwork. I remember reading that Victorian ladies used to make small looms which they wove squares like these on and then used them in such as this and I think that is what this is. O ffered here is a circa1900 Germantown Navaho weaving that measures 1 feet 5 inches long by 1 foot 6 inches wide or 17” x 18” and is in good condition. It was handwoven by an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all commercial 4-ply Germantown wool yarns on a cotton warp. The design here is a central concentric serrate diamond motif on the steel grey field. Sold“as is” with No Reserve. W e obtained this vintage Native American textile on a rug hunt in Arizona just to offer you here on eBay. It has a fine. Even weft count averaging 34 per inch and a fine warp count of 10 per inch. The selvage cords have 1” missing on one end and 1 1/2" missing on the other end along with 1 ¾” damaged area(see photo) Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are natural weft loop finished around the outside warp. Gorgeous ANTIQUE/VINTAGE HAND-CRAFTED CROCHET BED QUILT or BLANKET Lg.112" x 75"
This is one of the prettiest and amazing quilts we have seen. It is entirely hand-crafted and took months to make at least 50 years ago. The colors are so vivid and the stitches are so beautiful, we particularly love the 7.5 inch scalloped edging stitch. The lady who made this lovely piece is moving into a retirement home so we do have the history of all the hours she spent working on this artistic quilt. She did make it as a quilt but it could also be used as a blanket too. It is a sizeable piece measuring approx. 112" x 75" and substantially heavy quality. It may have been used as a sofa cover at one time and the squares on one end are a little faded compared to the other end(see photo# 4, the colors are brighter on the left side compared to the right) There doesn't appear to be any wear holes anywhere or broken stitching ... morethat we can see, there is a small 1" area where something has stuck to the fabric, we have not cleaned this item so it may come out with dry-cleaning. However it is hard to see, or find, because of the immense size of the overall quilt. It has been in storage for a long time unused and comes from a smoke-free home. This item is being sold AS IS. It is very old as you c an see in the un-retouched photos there is very fine. Thin dovetailing along with square nails with oxi dation around them. The hardware is very old and no screws are used anywhere. It is solid construction. There was. At one time, a small box mounted inside to s tore small items. Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. A $2.50 handling charge is included for international shipping. The handling charge is only applied once per package. SEVERAL SMALL ITEMS CAN OFTEN BE SHIPPED FOR THE SHIPPING COST OF ONE.
