ANTIQUE PORCELAIN HAND PAINTED PORTRAIT PLAQUE OF LADY WITH FRAME ~ KPM?
Here is a lovely antique hand painted porcelain framed portrait of a beautiful Victorian lady. The gold gilt oval frame shows expected wear and patina. The frame measures 8 ¾” tall and 7” wide. The porcelain plaque measures 3 ½” tall and 3” wide. The oval porcelain plaque is surrounded by brown velvet. This piece came from a church rummage sale in a very affluent area outside Philadelphia. PA. The back sticker indicates it was framed at the Gilbert Stuart Studio. 8407 Germantown Ave. Chestnut Hill, PA. I did not take the back off to see if there are any markings inside. The portrait does appear to have a faint signature at the bottom of the dress sleeve to the right. But I cannot make it out– see photo. Excellent condition! Antique KPM Heubach Miniature Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque "Anita" signed Sieb
Just out of a local house is this wonderful antique miniature painting on porcelain in its original carved walnut frame. It depicts a dark haired beauty wearing a revealing off the shoulder dress. With the frame it measures 5 13/16 inches high and 5 1/16 inches wide. The plaque alone measures about 3 7/16 inches high and 2 3/4 inches wide. It is signed on the front Sieb and the back is marked"Anita Nach Sichel" It also has Made in Germany in a circular mark and is marked faintly with the Bros. Heubach Lichte Rising sun mark. Used from 1882. The frames backboard has an old US customs label. The plaque and frame are both in excellent condition with no damage. Would make a nice addition to any collection. Also ear of barley is painted on the plaque, one of the main ingredients in brewing. The stamp on the backside of the plaque reads Denmark 411 and 3 waves in a circle. Antique porcelain plaque with a gilt wood frame. The plaque is 11" in diameter and is hand painted. It is a depiction of Thumann's classic Kunst Bringt Gunst or Art Brings Heart. It shows a young lady admiring the artistic ability of a young man painting a vase. His artistic side is winning her heart. The painting is signed"Ulmer" an unidentified porcelain artist whose work is highly respected and sought after. Close inspection of the fine quality of his works makes clear why this is the case. The gilt wood frame is 14" in diameter. The back of the plaque has an impressed mark I cannot identify. It has" Austria" and"Kunst Bringt Gunst" painted on the back. This plaque was made circa 1900. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, crazing or wear. The plaque is in very good condition ... morebut does have one crack. Here is a beautiful Handpainted Portrait Plaque in the original Gilt Gesso Frame. It is unmarked and dates to c. 1890. The frame is very ornate. The gilding looks a bit dull and dusty and there is a line at the bottom of the oval part that looks like an age separation in the wood or gesso. Unsure if it has been regilt somewhere along its life. Unsure if there is a curly cue missing from the right side of the frame because it doesnt really look symmetrical. The handpainted portrait on porcelain looks to be of some saint. Unsure who. The back of the porcelain has some tape remnants and pencil writing. It probably originally had something covering the back. There is a little loop at the back of the frame so you can hang the portrait. A gorgeous antique bone china hand painted plaque by Coalport. A named view of Chee Tor on the river Wye Derbyshire. This wonderful plaque painted in camaieu by Joseph Birbeck of cattle in the Derbyshire valley. It sits in a gold frame with a gold mount probably not the original frame. The plaque measures 180 mm/ 7 inches in diameter. The frame measures 270 mm/ 10.5 inches square. I have removed the back of the frame to reveal the old sticker reading Painted by J Birbeck Coalport. This is probably Joseph Birbeck Junior. Son of Joseph Birbeck, who was a landscape painter born in Coalport Shropshire in 1855. T&V Antique Porcelain Portrait Plaque Painting BOEHM signed Limoges France
This antique porcelain painting has been in our family for many decades. I don't know much about it. But it is signed Boehm. I believe this was Henry Richard Boehm, a New York artist that committed suicide at the age of 44.see below for more info on the artist. I didn't even realize it was signed until today when I pulled the tile out to photograph the back. I don't know if this was a private painting or done of someone famous. The painting is really well done. I took some close-ups and angles so you could see the paint. There is beaded paint on the pearls of her scarf. The porcelain blank was from T&V in Limoges. France and measures about 6" x 4" With the frame measuring roughly 8" x 6" The frame has a delicate metal(brass? edging built into it, which appears original. It should be noted that the upper ... moreleft corner appears to have a small piece of that edging missing(see close-ups) Henry Richard Boehm(1870- 1914) 1870- 1914(suicide) by 1905 had moved to New York. He lived in Briarcliff Manor. New York, in Westchester County near Ossining. He is listed in the 1910 NY Census with his wife and adopted daughter. He was an artist of some note whose work appeared on the covers and inside several magazine like COSMOPOLITAN, LESLIE'S WEEKLY, PEARSON'S, and LADIES' WORLD. He received strong praise from the editors of COSMOPOLITAN who claimed to have"discovered" Boehm. Despite this apparent success, he committed suicide on February 1, 1914.

Greiner' The Greiner family was involved with porcelain manufacturing as early as the mid 1700s and were well known glass and porcelain painters and porcelain makers in Lauscha, Thuringia, Germany. It measures 10" inches tall, 7 1/2" inches wide, and 1/4" inch thick. It still has most of the original paper label on the back, although it is very difficult to read. It has the KPM mark with scepter above it, and has a capital'H' and a capital'C' below. There are also numbers carved into the back that look to be'9 3/4-7 3/8' The plaque is in excellent condition with some light scuffs and a few very small scratches in the upper right corner. There is also some wear around the edges, mostly in the bottom right corner(see photos below) The seller was told that this plaque could be easily restored by a conservator. Yes. I listed this last week and then stopped the auction. I had a storm of emails saying things about scratches, unremovable grime, on and on, it has NONE of these faults, the bit of grime deposit came right off, I had 4 offers but everyone seemed to want to offer less due to imagined condition issues, one similar to this also signed Wagner just sold for $1,250 online, not as pretty as this blue eyed lady with the blue ribbon. I am relisting and added some new photos, some pre clean photos are still there, it was just on the edge, a bit of cloudy, I cleaned it and it is perfect now, no cloudy at all, never had any damage, a couple dust spots are on new photos, This is the most beautiful piece, it is in excellent PLUS original condition, this is over 100 years old so not as the day it was made but close! Wonderful deep vibrent color, signed ... moreon the front with Wagner and on the reverse with the HUTSCHENREUTHER mark for 1904? not positive, found this info on Google) and the 15, this is the correct mark for the 3 1/2" by 2 3/4" oval plaques(which is how this measures) from the early time when they were producting the finest art, like KPM. This piece is straight out of an estate, EXCELLENT had a tiny bit of grime going around edge where the frame allowed it to build up, I cleaned with a very soft eraser, came off in a minute, I should not have listed until clean, but was afraid to damage! Basically sold unframed. It is sold along with the wood gesso insert that went into another frame I am sure, it has chips and losses, but it probably is original so I am adding it in, I would reframe.
