This is probably the most colorful antique cottage milk jug I have ever seen. Vivid over-glaze enamel colors really typify so many of the English folky ... morepottery figurines from the 1800s to the 1860s. Everything really did stop for tea and no afternoon was not complete without at least one serving of tea and cakes. The early dusks of winter in the drawing room were brightened with the arrival of the maid with her tray, while in warm summers the bright, airy conservatory with its profusion of exotic plants made an excellent setting in which to drink the refreshing China and Indian teas, served from fine, floral decorated china. 19thC Antique Victorian Staffordshire Flatback 13" Lge Watch Stand Figure Group
19thC Antique Victorian Staffordshire Flatback 13" Lge Watch Stand Figure Group This is a fabulous antique Staffordshire pottery figure group. Made by one of the Stoke-on-Trent potteries in the 19th century. This is a large ornamental flatback figurine. Made as a watch stand or holder, with a small cup at the top for gentlemen to leave their pocket watch at night. There are three elegantly posed ladies in colourful hand-painted costumes, framing a central flower=adorned column, topped by two yellow birds. The figurine is in great condition. With just a couple of minor faults- there is a chip to the skirt on the left-hand edge, which someone has attempted to disguise, and the tips of the birds' crests seem to be slightly damaged. Apart from the usual age-related crazing and a few spots of colour missing, there is no other damage; ... morethe piece is unmarked, as was common. The piece measures about 32 cm/12.75" high and 24 cm/9.5" across. And weighs 1381 gms, and I estimate the packaged weight will be 1800 gms. Please ask any questions. And thanks for looking! I have no idea why this is. However, I do ship worldwide so you are welcome to bid on any of the items. IMPORTANT BIDDING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION: IF YOU PLAN TO BID ON THIS ITEM AND ARE THE HIGH BIDDER I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU DO ... moreNOT PAY ME UNTIL YOU RECEIVE MY INVOICE NOT THE INVOICE THAT IS GENERATED IMMEDIATELY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SALE BY EBAY. Ebay now has rules that all sellers MUST ship items for which they have been paid within one business day without exception. Those who follow my sales and have bought from me over the years know that I have always had a policy of shipping within 24 hours of a sale(see my feedback) However, there are times when I am out of town unexpectedly for a house call, an auction or an estate call and it simply is not possible to get to the post office in time. Also, if you find that there is more than one item you are interested in bidding on over a given time period and would like to take advantage of combined shipping, please again, DO NOT pay me until the last of those items you're watching has finished. I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping fee which saves on postage. I never charge a"handling fee" I would rather wait a few days on a payment and extend you the advantage of lower shipping fees than to be paid immediately- not ship- and then be scored negatively by eBay for not shipping soon enough. Pottery Cow Creamer Pearlware Spongeware Victorian Staffordshire 19thC Antique
Pottery Cow Creamer Pearlware Spongeware Victorian Staffordshire 19thC Antique This is a lovely old piece of very early 19th century pottery. The cow creamer was a popular addition to kitchen dinnerware. Being a charming vessel in the form of a cow that would dispense cream/milk. However many were famous for causing lead poisoning and salmonella due to unhygienic lead glazes. The piece is in good condition for its age. However there are various signs of wear such as tiny little marks of discolouration or surface scratches and tiny chips to the tips of the ears- however there are no cracks or major structural damages. The creamer would have originally had a stopper/lid. It measures approximately 17cm wide by 11cm tall.
