Here is a lovely antique hand painted porcelain framed portrait of a beautiful Victorian lady. The gold gilt oval frame shows expected wear and patina. The frame measures 8 ¾” tall and 7” wide. The porcelain plaque measures 3 ½” tall and 3” wide. The oval porcelain plaque is surrounded by brown velvet. This piece came from a church rummage sale in a very affluent area outside Philadelphia. PA. The back sticker indicates it was framed at the Gilbert Stuart Studio. 8407 Germantown Ave. Chestnut Hill, PA. I did not take the back off to see if there are any markings inside. The portrait does appear to have a faint signature at the bottom of the dress sleeve to the right. But I cannot make it out– see photo. Excellent condition! Antique KPM Heubach Miniature Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque "Anita" signed Sieb
Just out of a local house is this wonderful antique miniature painting on porcelain in its original carved walnut frame. It depicts a dark haired beauty wearing a revealing off the shoulder dress. With the frame it measures 5 13/16 inches high and 5 1/16 inches wide. The plaque alone measures about 3 7/16 inches high and 2 3/4 inches wide. It is signed on the front Sieb and the back is marked"Anita Nach Sichel" It also has Made in Germany in a circular mark and is marked faintly with the Bros. Heubach Lichte Rising sun mark. Used from 1882. The frames backboard has an old US customs label. The plaque and frame are both in excellent condition with no damage. Would make a nice addition to any collection. A gorgeous antique bone china hand painted plaque by Coalport. A named view of Chee Tor on the river Wye Derbyshire. This wonderful plaque painted in camaieu by Joseph Birbeck of cattle in the Derbyshire valley. It sits in a gold frame with a gold mount probably not the original frame. The plaque measures 180 mm/ 7 inches in diameter. The frame measures 270 mm/ 10.5 inches square. I have removed the back of the frame to reveal the old sticker reading Painted by J Birbeck Coalport. This is probably Joseph Birbeck Junior. Son of Joseph Birbeck, who was a landscape painter born in Coalport Shropshire in 1855. He is originally from Vietnam and has lived here since 1975. He has an Art Studio in Tampa area where he teaches painting a couple times a year. His grandmother had a painting studio in Saigon and that is where San Do learned to paint. He is a master at painting very fine Portrait Plaques that share a close resemblance to KPM, Limoge etc. The detail in this is absolutely stunning! No reserve for this extremely well-executed work of art. Estate-fresh antique 19th century painting on porcelain. All handpainted in the manner of(and every bit the superb quality of) KPM and Berlin porcelain plaques. Marked on the reverse side as shown with an old paper sticker with numbers and letters. Small porcelain wall hanging in the shape of a tiny oval plates with 2 holes for the string. Ivory color with scalloped edges painted green. Two flowers are painted on this item. One blue and one pink, possibly peonies. On the back are the words Ida and Calif. Exact age is unknown, but it was very common for ladies many years ago to be quite adept in the decorative arts. This porcelain hanging shows lots of crazing when seen close up. I tried to show this in some of the pictures. It measures 5 inches long by 4.75 inches wide by 1 inch deep. Hi, Fresh from an estate sale this antique painting on porcelain of a semi nude woman with tambourine. It is artist signed-Wagner. It is a German porcelain with a number 12 and I can't figure out what the impression is below the 12. The plaque is 4" wide by 5" tall. It's in excellent condition. It does have a 3/8" scratch on the left side. The photo makes it look worse than it really is but I just wanted to give full disclosure of the condition. The outer frame is silver colored but antiqued with a bronze like finish over the silver. The plaque is mounted in an insert within the outer frame that is wrapped with rust colored velvet like fabric. This displays and compliments the plaque very well. I have owned the plaque for about 15 years and had never removed it from the frame until I decided to list it on eBay. At this point I removed enough of the staples holding the rear cardboard panel to the frame to remove and examine the plaque. I then returned it to the frame and replaced the staples. Ruth is wearing a white headscarf and what appears to be peasant dress. She looks to be in the process of harvesting grain and a large body of water can be seen in the distance. The subject is La Belle Chocolatiere after Jean Etienne Liotard. The painting has fine detail and depth. The reverse has portions of three labels. The top two have hand writing and the first word is Chocolatiere. The bottom label was printed and we believe is was from the retailers Uderstadt& Bager. 1 Pragerstr. Dresden. The back also has an impressed 324 over the letter G at the bottom right corner. We cannot tell if there is a makers mark under either of the larger labels.
