$17.00 Shipping Location: Sparta, United States For sale is an amazing waste/ slop bowl made in China in the early 18th around 1735 possibly by the Imperial kilns because the quality is that good but ... morethen that begs the question why they would make an imitation of a European(babaric) piece! I have never seen a Chinese piece of this quality copying the Meissen pieces of the time and even marking it with the swords! Not sure what the purpose was or if it was meant as a replacement piece or to show off their true skills! The bowl is hand painted with a superb puce scene on the inside surrounded by a gold and red trim with Chinoiserie figures in red on top. Nice gold. Red and black trim to the inside edge. The best part however are the two scenes in polychrome on the outside of the bowl. One harbor/ merchant scene of superb quality which comes as close to the real deal as anything I have ever seen out of China and another scene of a shepherd with his dog, two sheep and a bull in a landscape surrounding. Two nice floral arrangements in between the cartouches that are quite nice as well but this is where it shows that it is not a Meissen original: Nice red and gold trim to the foot ring. The bowl is in superb condition with some minor gold wear mostly to the very top edge, a repair to the foot and a hairline to the top edge as shown. This hairline however seems to actually be under the glaze as you cannot feel it at all and the piece still rings true when tapped. Signed underneath with the over glaze greyish blue crossed swords which are definitely original to the piece. Quite interesting really! Maybe the first recorded copyright infringement of the Chinese? The piece is 2.875 inches tall and 5.875 inches in diameter. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM. The subject is La Belle Chocolatiere after Jean Etienne Liotard. The painting has fine detail and depth. The reverse has portions of three labels. The top two have hand writing and the first word is Chocolatiere. The bottom label was printed and we believe is was from the retailers Uderstadt& Bager. 1 Pragerstr. Dresden. The back also has an impressed 324 over the letter G at the bottom right corner. We cannot tell if there is a makers mark under either of the larger labels. Up for auction is a stunning antique 5” x 3.75” hand painted porcelain plaque after. The Little Fruit-Seller- Bartolome Esteban Murillo painted 1670-1675 Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was baptized on January 1. 1618 in Seville, Spain. He became the most popular Baroque religious painter of 17-century Spain, noted for paintings like Immaculate Conception(1652) The softly modeled forms, rich colors, and broad brushwork of his later paintings were influenced by 16-century Flemish painters. Murillo was praised(and copied) throughout the Spanish empire. It is signed on back. Has a 12 M stamped into it and an old sticker. This is a really special piece and was executed by an expert hand. The plaque is framed in a gilded metal frame. The piece measures approximately 5" by 4" and framed it measures 11" x 8.5" Condition- there are no known/ visible cracks. Chips or repairs. See pictures for more detail. The Siren's Treasure Up for auction is a wonderful Victorian hand painted porcelain plaque. It is. I think of The Virgin Mary and is quite large, measuring 9 7/8" x 7 7/8" It is in superb condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. It is signed on the back L.M. Curtis 1894 and has the number 25 indented non the lower end. Also there is some faint writing which looks like DNY/DEY. Not sure.
