Offered for your bidding is an exceptionally high-quality suite of 8 x Georgian ruby glass water goblets or wine glasses(presumably English) Circa 1800- 1830. A wonderful addition to even the most discerning& well-appointed tables! These substantial goblets are of remarkable ruby red color, and beautifully made. An elegant neo-classical design, featuring the rare square foot. The vase shaped upper portions are hand-blown, as are the tapered stems, and thick molded square'lemon-squeezer' feet. The bottom of each stem has had the prunt polished, and most feature some small evidence of their hand-crafting in the form of miniscule implosions in the glass, etc. Condition: All 8 goblets have smooth upper drinking rims, free of any chips or signes of grinding. Of the 8 glasses, at least 5 have miniscule'flea-bites' on the bottom ... morecorners of the feet, but are virtually unnoticable, and frankly to be expected from age& use. But we have the magnificant and extremely rare amount of more then 200 available an authentic early 19th century, Red Wine Glass made between 1800 and 1830 a funel shaped. Faceted bowl, on a stem with 2 bladed knops. A plain foot with polished-out pontil the 2 knops gave a firm grip. Handy in a time(circa 1820) that there was not much silverware on the tables, so one could have greasy fingers we have messured some and found: heights between 12- 12.5 cm. 4.7- 4.9 inch and weights between 94- 148 gram each probably not one is exactly the same as the other. They differ slightly in height, weight, form and color, because they are all hand made, before the industrialisation period and have been collected over many years and places! condition: very good- no chips.
