18th c Dutch Blown And Engraved Red And White Opaque Color Twist Wine Glass
You are bidding on a nice blown 18th c Dutch red and white opaque twist stem wine glass. The stem has red and white threads twisted around a gauze core. The bowl is engraved with a flower on one side and a moth on the other. It stands about 4 5/8" tall. The bowl is about 2" across and the foot is about 2 7/16" across. It has a rough pontil and a slight ring when tapped. It glows green under black light so it may be potash glass. There is a small area on the bowl rim that is a little flat. It may have been polished slightly or it may have been made that way, I'm not sure. No other chips, cracks or repairs. Really nice early color twist, would be a great edition to any collection. You are bidding on a nice 18th c English opaque twist wine glass. The stem consists of 2 solid bands twisted in the core with 2 lacey bands twisted around the outside. It rings when tapped and has a rough pontil. It stands about 5 7/8" tall. The foot is about 2 5/8" across and the bowl is about 1 15/16" across. It has an ogee bowl. There are no chips or cracks but it may possibly have had some polishing on the foot rim. Nice early glass. Great for any collection. Please email any questions. A Georgian Antique Single Series Opaque Twist Spiral Gauze SSOT Wine Glass c1765
A particularly good Georgian period single series opaque twist stem wine glass. It dates to the mid 18th century around 1765 to the early reign of George III. The glass features a large bell bowl which is widely flared and or larger capacity than usual for this period. The stem is a scarce single series form and it has knops at the top and bottom which is a rare feature. The twist is a spiral gauze which is well formed and very arractive. The foot is of standard conical type and the pontil is rough snapped as you would expect for this period. The glass is the English lead variety and of good quality. Overall this is a very nice example for the collector. Knopped opaque twist stem with a interesting bucket type bowl and a plain slightly concave foot. Good broken pontil mark. There is a chip on the base foot of the glass. See photos, does not appear to have been reduced and also a air bubble on the base. A great Georgian example. Approx 5 5/8" high, base foot is 2 5/8" in diameter and bowl 1 7/8" in top diameter. 18th c Georgian English Blown Opaque Twist Wine Glass With Molded Bowl
You are bidding on a nice blown 18th c English opaque twist wine glass. It has a molded bowl and the stem consists of 4 thick threads in the core and a band of 9 thinner threads twisted around it. It rings when tapped. It stands about 5 5/8" tall. The bowl is about 1 7/8" across and the foot is about 2 5/8" across. It has a rough pontil. There are 3 small flakes on the bottom of the foot. Both the foot and the bowl have had some polishing. No other chips. Cracks or repairs. In spite of the polishing its still a nice early glass, would be a great edition to any collection. Georgian Wine Glass with Bell Shaped Bowl& Opaque Twist Stem c.1765 Description- A very nice example of what appears to be a Georgian. Double series opaque twist glass goblet dating from the middle of the 18th century, about 1750-1780. It has a Bell shaped bowl, a slightly concave foot and a broken pontil. The glass is clear and bright. The goblet is just over 6-1/4" tall. 2-7/8" across the foot and 2-1/4" across the rim of the bowl(15.9 x 7.3 x 5.7 cm. It weighs 5.5 oz. 156 grams) Very Good condition with the exception of 2 shallow flakes underneath the foot and one small chip on the edge of the foot. Otherwise. Double series opaque twist glass goblet dating from the middle of the 18th century, about 1750-1780. It has a Bell shaped bowl that sits above a knopped stem and a slightly concave foot and a broken pontil. The top of the foot is engraved with word"Democrat" written in script. The glass is about 6.5" tall. A little under 3" across the foot and 2.5" across the rim of the bowl(16.5 x 7.6 x 6.4 cm. It weighs 6.6 oz. 187 grams) Generally Good condition with a minimum of problems except for the foot. The bowl has almost no wear. But does have just a tiny bit of'roughness' in the form of three very teeny pin-prick size nicks.
