A well provenanced. Ancient, grey pottery vessel, from the Persian Empire, dating to approximately the Late 2nd to Early 1st millennium B.C. A beautifully modeled. Dark grey, burnished vessel. With stout, bulbous body, wide circular mouth, subtly footed base. Three small, pointed protrusions adorn the sides of the jug, with a fourth, larger, pierced protrusion at the back. Delicately incised zigzagged detail surrounds the mouth of the jug, while downward pointing triangular detail falls from the bottom of each protrusion.
