MEASURES: 5" x 3 1/2" PLEASE WAIT FOR INVOICE! BIOGRAPHY: Algot Wilhelm Kåge(6 March 1889- 25 November 1960) was a Swedish artist and designer. Mainly known as a ceramic designer and as the artistic leader of the Gustavsberg porcelain factory. Kåge studied decorative painting at Tekniska skolan in Stockholm and later for the painter Carl W. Wilhelmson in Gothenburg. Johan Rodhe in Copenhagen and at Plakatschule in Munich, where he learnt graphic techniques. His early career was dedicated to advertising and the production of posters. But his best known work was in ceramics, begun when he was appointed artistic leader of Gustavsberg in 1917, remaining there until 1949, when he was succeeded by Stig Lindberg. The focus of Kåge's early ceramic designs. As of much of Swedish design of this period was on practical solutions to social issues, an example of which was his Praktika(1933) a simply designed and stackable set of tableware aimed at working-class families.Praktika was a commercial failure, as the intended buyers preferred more traditional and ornate products. Kåge's most commercially successful design was the Green-glaced Argenta. Earthenware with decorations in silver, that was produced in many shapes and with many different surface designs.

A well provenanced. Ancient, grey pottery vessel, from the Persian Empire, dating to approximately the Late 2nd to Early 1st millennium B.C. A beautifully modeled. Dark grey, burnished vessel. Delicately incised zigzagged detail surrounds the mouth of the jug, while downward pointing triangular detail falls from the bottom of each protrusion. The larger protrusion probably represents a stylized quadruped. The smaller ones are likely to signify animal(bull? heads. Diameter: 3 1/2 inches. Height: 2 1/2 inches. Condition: Excellent. An Antique Perrsian Glazed Decorated Pottery Bottle 18th century
This Iranian Persian-style vase is hand-made and hand-painted in flower motifs. Not as finely painted as some of the older Iznik pieces from old Persia. Yet an attractive and unusual decorative piece with some artistic merit. It has an unusual three-sided form. And has a very old-looking patina. The glaze is intact but rather crackled. At first glance, one would think it is a much older piece, but apparently these kinds of wares were and are still being made in Iran today. With the influx of Iranian immigrants to the US over the past few decades, these wares have been more available here. This and ane one above were acquired in San Diego, California where there is a large population of Iranian immigrants. Other Key Words: Persia.
