A lovely well preserved Persian bronze age arrow head that still has great charm with patina from oxidizing and uneven edges but an example of a variety of ancient Middle eastern culture weaponry. Great for collectors and it is a good conversation piece. Some roughness at edges from rust but in nice condition. The item is actually brighter in color than photos show. Culture: Persian. Ancient Near Eastern Bronze Dagger / Sword Blade Weapon - 1200 BC
An ancient dagger blade. Dating to the late Near Eastern Bronze Age, approximately 1200- 800 BC. The blade of slender form with a thin tang reaching out from the base of the hilt for insertion into a wooden/ bone handle. Now long since perished. The tang is perforated near the end for securing the handle. This weapon was produced by the expert bronze working smiths of the ancient Near East. And would have originally formed part of the burial contents of an elite warrior. These individuals often served as mercenaries in the service of rulers in the lowlands of Mesopotamia. A powerful piece of ancient Near Eastern weaponry. Expertly produced by an adaptable and fierce society. Length: 8 1/4 inches. Condition: Very good. An exceptional. High quality and heavy spear blade, dating to the Late Near Eastern Bronze Age, approximately 1200 BC. This is an extremely well preserved. Elegant weapon mounted on a very high quality bronze display stand. Blades like this cannot be purchased for less than $2,000 in any high end gallery. The blade is of a particularly elegant leaf form. With prominent central mid rib and long thick, rounded tang with distinctive curled tail, designed for insertion into a wooden pole in antiquity, now long since perished. Though Near Eastern spear blades are often seen on today’s art market. Examples like this, in such superb condition and large size are rarely encountered.
