Just let us know, and yes, we’ll discount the price by the cost of the settings. DETAIL: Here are two gorgeously colored bright and richly hued orange ... moregarnets. This particular species of garnet is known as“Spessartite” And is so named after its original source of Spessart, Bavaria. Hand crafted by a 19th century Russian artisan, part of an heritage renown for the production of the elaborate gemstones and jewelry of the Czars of Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian Russia. These particular gemstones were hand cut and faceted into briolette teardrops, an old fashioned cut reflecting their heritage. Originally used in indigenous jewelry, these are very pretty semi-precious gemstones, with highly a desirable, uncommon, beautiful rich, vibrant, almost velvety pumpkin orange hue. Although the gemstones are far from flawless, they are eye clean, and given the antique origin and the characteristics of spessartite garnet, that’s pretty exceptional. These are very nice quality specimens. Absolutely transparent and alive with fiery sparkles. Though there are blemishes apparent when scrutinized with a jeweler’s loupe(or in these 500%+ photo enlargements here) to the eye they are clean. Both gemstones possess great character, and wonderful tone and color, and are of reasonably good quality, especially given their nineteen cent
Antique 19thC Orange Tourmaline Gem of Medieval Shamans Gemstone
Exquisite Antique Genuine Natural Siberian Bright Orange Tourmaline Faceted Square. CLASSIFICATION: Orange Tourmaline Faceted Square. ORIGIN: The Ural Mountains. Russia. 19th Century. SIZE: 2 1/2mm“square” Depth: 2mm. All measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 0.13 carats. NOTES: Upon request we can set your gemstones as a ring. Pendant, or as earrings(click for more information) DETAIL: Medieval Shamans believed that tourmaline was a“receptive stone” which promoted meditation. Spirituality, wisdom and mystical powers. Ancient mystical ceremonies in India included the use of the gem as a tool to bring insight and help in the discovery of that which is good, and to make known who or what was the cause of troubles or evil deeds. Here's an exquisitely colored antique orange-peach tourmaline square from the South Ural Mountains of Siberia, hand ... morecrafted and faceted by a 19th century Russian artisan, part of an heritage renown for the production of the elaborate gemstones and jewelry of the Czars of Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian Russia. Orange tourmalines are rather uncommon, one of the more valuable of the ordinary varieties of tourmaline. There is substantially more demand than supply, so thus oftentimes can be quite costly. The color of this specimen is a very beautiful, bright orange with distinct pinkish undertones. The color is very beautiful and warm– very much like an orange rose in hue. Tourmaline was held in such high regard by the(last) Empress of China, Tz'u Hsi, that she purchased bought almost a ton of it from a mine in California, and was eventually laid to rest(eternally) on a carved tourmaline pillow. An ancient language of India(source of much of the ancient world's ruby) ruby was called"ratnaraj" which means"King of Gems" Rubies were sorted into upper class, middle class, and lower class stones in relation to their color, flawlessness and beauty. Much like Indian society today, no inferior ruby was allowed contact with an upper class ruby because it was believed the low-caste ruby would contaminate the better one, thereby diminishing its magical powers. Ruby was sometimes worn beneath ... morethe skin by warriors as a protective talisman with the belief that the ruby would give them courage and make them invulnerable. In the ancient classical world, rubies from Afghanistan, Ceylon, and Burma were traded in the ancient port cities of the Eastern Mediterranean(often by Phoenicians) and from there traveled throughout Europe. Here's a beautiful. Nice quality antique oval ruby that originated in Mysore, India. This particular gemstone is known as a"silky" ruby- translucent and not transparent- it is hand shaped and faceted and possesses great color. While not individually discernable, most natural rubies, much more common than clear specimens, have inclusions that contribute to their silky appearance. As long as these inclusions are colorless they are acceptable, changing the gem from transparent to translucent. The rich, ruby red color is preserved and the gemstone is breathtaking in luster. By contrast the highest quality rubies, which can cost thousands of dollars per carat, are completely transparent and appear as colored glass. However most of the“gemstones” which are sold as such high quality rubies are of synthetic manufacture. Read the fine print.
