Luristan- 9" Spear Head- Bronze(circa 1250-800 BC) For your consideration: a cast bronze spear head with a leaf-shaped blade. A raised central midrib, and short rat-tail tang. Lorestan(Luristan) bronze refers to a set of Early Iron Age bronze artifacts that have been recovered from the Lorestan and Kermanshah areas in west-central Iran. These skilled Indo-European craftsmen of Media or Persia. Produced some of the finest weaponry then available. Northern/Western area of Ancient Persia: Circa 1250-800 B.C. This spear would have been made for a hand-held thrusting weapon rather than a lighter javelin or throwing spear. The head has a very short tang to anchor it in its wooden shaft and was then tied by the holes in the blade’s shoulders.
