Ancient Rare Luristan Decorative Bronze Ibex 900-800 BC
The Ancient Luristan Community- Bronze Artwork The term'Luristan' references artifacts made by a society of semi-nomadic people that once lived in the mountainous region of Northwest Iran. The Luristan bronzes were crafted by the earliest existence of the Median empire. The Medes were Indo-Iranian people originally from central Asia who settled in Northwest Iran in the 9th century BC and later defeated the Assyrian empire in 614 BC. Their success is short-lived and their empire which once stretched from central Iran to the Persian Gulf and Anatolia was overrun in 550 BC by the Persians. The people living in the mountains of Luristan seemed to have been fascinated by the animal kingdom. Since the bronzes depict animals, birds, fish, and insects both cast in bronze and incised on bowls and plaques. Wild life that was local to the region ... moreincludes the mountain goat(ibex) Mountain sheep, deer, bear, fox, and boar. Lions, leopards, panthers, and antelopes are also illustrated; they may all have been native to the region in early times. The monkey, shown infrequently, was a curiosity that may have been shown by traveling entertainers. The domestic animals and fowl include the horse, sheep, goat, pig, bull, cow, camel, dog, rooster, duck, goose, and dove. Not domesticated were the bee, eagle, snake, fish, crane, and frog. Many fantastic animals are found among the bronzes. Some have been provided with wings. A mark of association with divinities. Some are composite animals, some have human faces and some animals have plant forms growing out of their backs. Their bronze work is characterized by ornamentation that includes the free use of animal and demonic human forms applied to such products as weapons, horse fittings, and jewelry. Genuine Ancient Roman Judaea Palestine Phoenicia Israel Bronze Bracelet 100AD
Archaic Genuine Ancient Roman Judaean Bronze Bangle circa First Century A.D. CLASSIFICATION: Roman-Judaean Bronze Bangle. Mounted onto plaque or shadow box upon request(additional shipping charges apply) ATTRIBUTION: Eastern Roman Empire Provinicial Judaea(present-day Israel- Palestine) 1st Century A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Outside Diameter: 59 x 58 millimeters. Inside Diameter: 50 millimeters. Band Width: 5 millimeters. Band Thickness: 5 millimeters. Weight: 28.69 grams. CONDITION: Good. Intact of sound integrity. Moderately heavy porosity(surface pitting caused by contact with earth while buried) Professionally conserved. DETAIL: A well preserved. Though very simple Roman bronze bracelet circa 1st century AD. It would fit a woman of slender build, and with that caveat, is completely and eminently wearable. The bracelet was recovered unbroken ... moreand intact. As is ordinarily the case, the artifact exhibits moderately heavy porosity(surface pitting caused by burial in earth) Unlike so many smaller bronze artifacts which are completely disfigured by corrosion, this particular piece happened to come to rest in reasonably gentle soil conditions. The consequence is that though you can see clear evidence that this bracelet spent millennia buried beneath the ground, nonetheless to casual examination it is quite pleasant, with the rich, warm glow of ancient bronze. To casual scrutiny it seems simply a primitive bracelet. Of course in these photo enlargements. Or to close scrutiny, these blemishes are quite distinct. The entire bracelet bears witness to the fact that it spent two thousand years buried in soil. It bears little pits, bites, and dimples on every surface. However in hand, worn on the arm, to the casual observer, it simply appears a nicely toned bronze bracelet. Though simple it is sturdy and well constructed, and entirely intact. Despite the obvious signs of burial, the piece is not heavily corroded or disfigured as are commonly most smaller ancient metal artifacts. The bracelet possesses a very nic

Circa 1500 BC to 500 BC. This piece was sculpted in the form of an animal. Possibly a bull, and was probably made as a staff finial or pommel for a knife, sword, or other weapon- tool. The form is quite abstracted and stylized with four feet and a tail integrated into the body and an elongated neck with a small head and ears on either side of a pair of very lengthy horns. There is a thick cylindrical, hollow tube-like form rising from the back which has a thick lip. Cemented into this hollow tube by encrustation, are the remains ... moreof what looks to be an iron attachment rod, possibly part of the tool or knife that this piece was originally part of. The animal form is classic and very modernistic looking. Although it was made over 2,500 years ago. AGE: Circa 1500 BC to 500 BC. CONDITION: Good archeologically found condition. As shown in the photos and with the following noted: Thick green encrusted encrustation overall. No apparent losses to this finial or handle, although it was part of a tool or knife that is no longer present. This piece does not presently have a display stand but it would be worth having one made. HISTORY: This piece was purchased from an estate collection in the Point Reyes area of California several years ago. The collector obtained his collection in the late 1950s and the pieces in his collection were brought to the United States in the early 20th century. PLEASE NOTE: The low opening bid. ANCIENT NEAR EASTERN BRONZE BATTLE AXE HEAD 4500 years old
This bronze axe head is not from Luristan but was made hundreds of miles to the west of Persia. It predates Luristani weaponry by 2000 years. This is also not a tribal weapon. This is an excellent example of one of the world's first manufactured Military weapons.By that statement I mean to say that these were made in large quantities to equip particular ranks of a country's army.Per Ebay policy I cannot mention this axehead's country of origin but if you know archaeologica you already have that answer. There is an old excavation inventory number painted on the back of the shaft hilt(195)I believe this was excavated probably in the 1930's when there was huge effort by the British to unearth the tombs and mudbrick temples of that area.I did purchase this item from Great Britain.313 grams. The shaft is 3 5/8" from the back, the ... moreblade is 3 5/8" from the forward edge of the shaft hole, one chip on the upper shaft edge, nice original patina. This item was made to exacting standards and it has"perfect" symmetry. If you are an ancient history buff you understand one of the reasons Phillip of Macedon conquered all of Greece was because of the standard of his weapons production. They maintained weapons factories and were able to standardize production and quality. This country's army also had standardized weapon production. Many bronze axeheads from other parts of the Near East are readily available on Ebay. This type is much harder to find.

Ancient Near Eastern Early Iron Age Iron & Bronze Sword - 900 BC
A rare Ancient Near Eastern bronze and Iron sword. Dating to approximately 900 B.C. A very rare example. Notable for the almost complete preservation of its iron blade, which is often missing or so badly corroded that it has been removed and replaced with a bronze blade. The blade itself is of triangular form and of thick section. Decorated with three converging ridges on both sides, which accentuate the length and robust feel of the weapon. The hilt is of typical form, made of bronze with discoid pommel and ridge decoration on the handle. The tang insertion of the blade is visible from the back of the hilt, entering the pommel. Perhaps in antiquity the pommel may have been capped with a limestone or lapis-lazuli ornament. Length of sword: 17 3/4 inches. Condition. Exceptional. Unrestored. Blades such as this are seldom encountered on the ... moreart market. It was common in the early-middle part of the last century, when these blades were found, for the often very badly corroded iron blades to be snapped off by unscrupulous dealers. Thus one commonly finds on the market today that these original iron blades have been swapped with"more pleasing" bronze examples from another weapon. What is most unusual about this piece is that not only has the original blade been kept, but it is in an extraordinary state of preservation. Provenance: Ex. Fench private collection. Acquired in the 1960's. Mounted on a beautiful custom made bronze stand. Authenticity All items are unconditionally guaranteed to be Authentic as described.
