My mother worked for an antique dealer 25 years ago and obtained a set of this rare first desk and last seat combination. She put it into my brother's room and it got loads of compliments on it. It's just a great piece. My mom is now selling the house and selling this great antique school desk set. The only damage I see is to the inside shelf. Inside each desk there was a shelf for kids to put their books. That inside shelf. Which you can't see unless you crawl under the desk, has a part of the shelf missing. I have attached 2 pictures showing it. The desk and chair are made of wood and metal. I don't know if the metal is iron or steel. The wood was painted to match my brother's room.
