To the left of the desk is a tall shelf area with four adjustable shelves for storage or acting as a bookcase again having fine ornate wood carving over the glass door front. This is one really cool piece of history! There are ink wells and pencil cutouts for seven people/employees. It is straight on one side and curved on the other side. See the pics as to how I squared it up on a trailer to best show the curvature. It is 138" long by 88" on the curved side. I am not certain if this was used as a school desk. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It works find on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works find on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top.

It has an antique patina and nice full size, but not being overwhelming in any room. The Paris Mfg. Co. was started by a man named Henry Franklin Morton as a hobby in 1861. The company first made sleds which were hand decorated by Morton's wife, Lucinda, in their kitchen at West Sumner, Maine. In an effort to stay in business year round, other goods were added, and Morton and his wife moved the operation to So. Paris, Maine, to be closer to a railroad depot. The depth of the back filing section of this desk is 13" Deep and app. 46" wide. This desk is much different than any that I have seen. It is a desk. With hutch that sits on top and is held in place with 4 dowels, one of which is broken. The desk has 12 drawers all of which are original and work. There are no guides, they slide on the wood. The drawer locks that hold the other drawers shut/locked all work and are not broken in any manner. The locks on the drawers do work but some how I have managed to lose the keys to this desk. Large Antique Oak Roll Top Desk Vintage Very Nice
For sale is a very nice classic antique roll top desk. This desk is in excellent shape and all original. It is quarter sawn white oak and measures 65.5 across x 35.5 inches deep- uncommonly large for a vintage roll top desk. It stands 51 inches tall with the superstructure in place. I purchased the desk from an antique store in Pueblo. Colorado about 10 years ago and was told that it came from an attorney's office from Westcliffe, CO. I am no antique expert and can't estimate the age- only clue is the lock hardware that states a patent date of December 1884 and inscribed with"Corbin Cabin Lock Co. We are converting our home office into a bedroom and no longer need it. I have kept it regularly moisturized with Howard Feed-N-Wax wood preserver. All drawers are original and appear to have never been repaired or altered. The roll ... moretop is in excellent shape including the underside material and rolls smoothly to close and locks securely. Mail slots on each side(for after hours mail delivery if desk is closed and locked) see photos. Keys are included. The lap drawer includes 8 compartments for easy organization, and the bottom right drawer is a file drawer. It can be disassembled for transport or storage. Beautiful antique oak secretary with stained glass doors made by Forest City Furniture Company of Rockford Illinois. Forest City Furniture was located at Railroad Avenue at Eighth Street and operated from to 1919. It has carved claw foot legs on the front. The shelves are adjustable and movable between the top and bottom cabinets. The stained glass is a beautiful combination of of colors and shapes from right-angles to smooth curves. The original manufacturer's label is still attached to the back. The label lists the unit number. The cabinet maker, and who filled, varnished, rubbed, polished, trimmed and crated this particular piece. It measures 73.75" high by 34" wide and 18.25" deep. The top cornice molding looks to be a pine replacement but as you can see in the photos it blends in. The bottom cabinet doors were repaired ... morebefore I purchased it. The repairs are the two dark squares seen on the lower doors. Replacement veneer had been inserted and the varnish used darkened faster than the original finish. This is an Antique Oak"S" Roll Top Desk with raised panels that has been beautifully restored. This desk is from my Grandparents home as I can not ever remember not seeing it there and I am almost 50 years old. I do not have a maker on this desk but have to believe that it is from the early 1900's. I would love to display this in my home. But my home will not accommodate it. It is 54 inches long. 3 feet wide and 4 foot tall. It is Oak and it has 4 drawers on the left hand side and 3 drawers on the right hand side. There is a brass plate in which to lock the desk. But I do not have a key for it. The colors and details are beautiful. With it being so old. There are some imperfections as you can see. On the left hand pull out there are little holes in the wood. Not sure if they were put there by someone or if something happened ... moreto the wood. On the back there is a knick of wood missing as you can see in the picture. Two of the drawers bottoms have been replaced and two of the drawers have what looks like as stains, but it does not get on anything. Antique 5' wide Oak Roll Top Desk and leather upholstered swivel oak chair
Lovely Oak Roll Top Desk with Oak Chair with leather upholstery. You can tell from the photos there are some scratches and wear on the leather seat of the chair. The cloth underneath the roll top part is starting to show signs of wear and could be developing a split on the left side. The desk comes apart into pieces for moving. Have owned for 25 years and used daily. Photos taken with and without flash to show off the warm oak colors. Photos of the chair upholstery also shown with and without flash so you can see the brown color in both lights. Desk and chair both have excellent finishes so no re-finishing necessary.
