Condition: Used Location: Novato, United States I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite ... morelike it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. Up for your consideration today is our beautiful solid oak curio cabinet. Desk, secretary, bookcase, I call it all those things because depending on my mood its purpose changes. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. It works find on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works find on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top.

Vintage secretary with 3 drawers. Very sturdy. This has been chalk painted black and gray and distressed and then a coat of wax has been applied to protect the finish. It is darker in color than appears in photo. I forgot to put all the drawer knobs on before taking the photos but I have them all and they are included. There is slight damage to the left back side where a chunk of wood chipped off but it is painted over. I wanted to mention it. This is a Beautiful Antique Secretary Writing Desk. Looks to be in Walnut excellent finish, very unique in that there are 7 Hidden Drawers aside from regular drawers. Desk has the Pigeon Hole Slots, Center Door with Carving beneath door that pulls out as a secret drawer. 4 small drawers on each side of center door, the 2 bottom drawers on end are shorter than top drawer and when pulled all the way out there is a wooden track that comes out with a wooden box attached! On either side of the center door each side sides open for 2 more secret drawers and above the pigeon slots the curved wood also on both sides open to secret drawers. Really beautiful desk that we got from an estate sale many years ago paid several hundred dollars for it at the time. It has remained unused and mostly for decorations for the last few years. The chair is a bit rickety and needs some screw tightening but we were able to use it without a problem when we needed to. The desk is in good shape everything needs a bit of oil in the joints but again we were able to use everything in the desk as is. The unit is all one piece and is in good condition. Condition issues such as round spots are shown in pictures. Hinges on the hutch doors were missing and have been replaced with modern ones. Unit is all one piece and cannot be disassembled. Piece must be picked up on or before November 11.

Nice drop down secretary desk. There is not much of the tag left on the back which reads Herzog Furniture Co. Michigan. It does have nicks in the finish, no deep scratches and the key for the small inside compartment is missing. Very sturdy. The desk is 24-1/2" wide, 39-1/2" tall and 15" deep. up for auction is this great oak secretary roll top desk.Very hard item to find,bought it to refinish and make a hobby but don't have the time,so this is the perfect project for someone who likes to build with wood,there are cracks, and modern wear but as you can tell the desk is still in beautiful shape.old roll tops only go up in value,i believe this one is from the late 1800's how they used the block wood in the back of desk to lock drawers and dows used to put together.has all the slats they need put in and 2 knobs for the drawers and a couple of pegs.measures 47" x 30"very heavy all oak desk.has#23 stamped in it. 2 of the drawer bottoms need replaced.this is a locking desk too needs bottom lock.Excuse the knick knacks mom decided to decorate it,lol.none go with the desk

The top part has 2 shelves with the cut ridge for plates, and then you have the bottom to act like shelve, under the slanted top is 6 drawers and 3 filing compartments, inside 1 file looks like spilled ink but not exactly sure, then there's 3 regular drawers on the bottom, also comes with key to lock the top and slanted cover.
