This particular desk is a lovely example of an antique piece, as the design style was seen in many classrooms at upscale schools in the first part of the 20th century. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural ... moreintegrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden vertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, marketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. Three drawers on the top and 2 drawers below. Sturdy but will need to be refinished. Some of the drawers need to be re-glued. The previous owner was a smoker. This is an Antique Captain's Desk. It measures 21 inches across and 21 1/2 inches from front to back. The back of the desk is 32 inches high. It has 8 drawers inside of the desk. There are 4 drawers on the outside on each side of the desk. One of the drawers has part of the handle missing. There are two lids on the desk that open. There is one chip in the wood that is visible in the 4th auction picture. It is a compact and useful desk. I purchased this many. Many years ago and it was old then. This is a original Mission Style oak library table. Not a reproduction. The top is 42 inches wide by 26 inches deep and it is 30 inches high. The top has a beautiful tiger oak grain pattern. It has one drawer, with the bottom right corner of the drawer face chipped off, and two bookshelves on each side. It has some issues but is sturdy and authentic and ready to be used as is or restored. You can see it and/or pick it up in Pasadena CA.

Vintage Herzog Secretary Desk & Steam Bent Chair Gloss Black LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
Nice drop down secretary desk. There is not much of the tag left on the back which reads Herzog Furniture Co. Michigan. It does have nicks in the finish, no deep scratches and the key for the small inside compartment is missing. Very sturdy. The desk is 24-1/2" wide, 39-1/2" tall and 15" deep. The bench is 22-1/2" wide, 15" deep and 22" tall. Comes from a smoke free home. This is a local pick up item only in Seattle Wa. Contact me about a meeting place before bidding.
