The center part has a slide-out tray workspace ... moresurface which tucks in nicely for compact neat look when unit is closed. The top has a tambour roll-up door which is in good working order. Inside you can fit lots of glassware. Barware, a coffee and cocktail station for your parties, or use as a pantry cupboard, as a desk for your laptop, as a tuck-away office space, as a valet cabinet for clothing and accessories, or as a stand for your television, computer and audio equipment. The inside dividers are mixed woods. The backer is thin plywood, and there's a small hole in the upper back so you can pass an electric cord inside to add a light, power strip, etc. There is an old lock mechanism on the side of the cabinet for the tambour, but I do not have a key. Age estimate of this piece is mid century, likely 1940's- 1970. The only mark found is on underside"MADE IN YUGOSLAVIA" It has age-appropriate wear and some stains on the wood top and the work surface. There is some wear to the back edges of the veneer on the sides. It has not been cleaned up. Overall, it presents fairly well. It is a very heavy piece of furniture. Please look at the photos and feel free to ask questions. This cabinet has hints of Danish Modern design and also an Art Deco vibe.very"Rat Pack" cocktail culture! Behind ... moreand above the fold-down desk writing area. Exists one Drawer and six Cubbies for holding envelopes, paper clips or any office type materials. Additional storage is found below the desk area consisting of an area with a ornate door measuring 20" x 14 1\2" deep. The drawer below this storage area measures 2" x 14 1\2" deep x 5" High. To the left of the desk is a tall shelf area with four adjustable shelves for storage or acting as a bookcase again having fine ornate wood carving over the glass door front. The ornate carvings on the front of the fold-down desk and upper glass door appear Victorian. Work is needed for refinishing this piece to bring it back to its original beauty. Some wooden back pieces shown in front. Need to be fixed to the back of the desk area and one more missing piece to make the back complete. Overall measurements: 63 ½” high 42 3\4" Wide 14 ½” deep The carved decorative top piece laying in front is shaped to hold a mirror which fits between the pieces and sits on the top of the desk area. The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful home. Notice the beautiful quartered sawed oak grain through out the piece and the deep heavy ornate carvings and bead work. What a great piece of furniture. It doesn't get any better than this! There are three shelves in the bookcase that are adjustable. There is one shelf below in the lower double door compartment that locks underneath the desk. Each drawer and door has a skeleton key lock with two keys included. Inside the desk is a beautiful pigeon hole interior and one small drawer with a brass knob.
