Amazing 19th Century plantation desk from what we believe to be the late 1800's. ... moreHas turned legs with a slant front desk top that lifts up and a secretary style top with doors that open and cubbies inside. Not sure of history of this piece. We obtained it from an estate sale in Johnston County, North Carolina. One of the most interesting thing about this desk is that in the upper corner of the right door there is a piece of paper taped inside that lists the presidents of the United States and has 24 of them with Woodrow Wilson being the last one and the date listed is 1893. This piece looks like perhaps the top may have been added later, not sure, and also where the slant top is looks like it was altered at one time as well. An amazing piece, all pegged. These are extremely rare to find anymore and one in it's original presentation case is truly an exceptional find. This Omega Desk clock has an inscription on the reverse side of the case showing at some time in the past it was serviced by a jeweler. The center of case has the stamped Omega logo showing it was fabricated in Switzerland and has a serial number of 7550549. We are not collectors or experts on clocks however. It appears from a brief inspection that it's missing the slow/fast adjustment pin. Please check all the photos and determine the condition for yourself. At the present time we tried to wind the clock and it turns but does not hold. The winder for the hands seem to function properly. Being that this Omega Desk Clock is nearly 100 years old and most likely needs to be serviced again before using we are offering no guarantees or refunds. We tried to find out more information from Omega but were unsuccessful.Hope the winning bidder is a collector or jeweler and can determine more of its history. Once restored this will be the hightlight of someone's collection.
