Victorian Era Antique 1860's Turtle Top Marble Table
This auction is for a beautiful Victorian era marble turtle top table with hand carved legs. The only defect on this table is that castors were added and one hole is too large and the castor falls out. This table is part of a large collection of furniture my mother in law had that came from past family. To her knowledge it was in a house where her ancestor General Bryant lived after making his fortune before the civil war in rail roads. She said this table sat in his Foyer and was where visiting gentlemen. Including his friend General Immit Rogers placed their top hats when they came to call. The body is made of a very nice wood with an antique hue as you can see from the pictures. It is glued and not something I would trust to shipping. This measures 40 ½ inches wide by 26 ½ inches deep by 29 ½ inches tall. The wood is in great shape with no damage. But the back top is a bit dry and a thin coat of varnish or even some linseed oil would rub this right out. There is one small chip in the back corner of the marble but I believe people can restore this if needed but it is not that noticeable being in back. Overall very solid and in great shape with no damage. I will offer some assistance with loading but buyer must either arrange shipping or pick up at my house. Vintage Victorian Style Mahogany Marble Top Side Parlor Table Plant Fern Stand C
This Victorian style marble top table is a reproduction. And was made in the 1940's- 1950's. We currently have three of these stands listed here on e-Bay and I believe that this is the better of the three. This quality piece of furniture has a good look about it. The marble top is Carrara marble from Italy and has a nicely beveled edge around it. It rests upon the mahogany base without being attached to it with hardware. This allows you to lift the marble off of the base, exposing the hollow cavity on the top and base, which you can use for storage of small items. Inside this cavity, the stand is marked"Victorian" with an impressed stamp. The base is beautifully styled and made of mahogany. It has four shapely legs, which have beveled edges and button plugs covering the mounting hardware. The turned central post is vase-like, ... moreand the wooden top has two routered channels encircling the piece, to further enhance its look. The piece measures 18 3/4" tall by 14" wide. The piece is roughly 60 years old and is not"show room perfect" due to normal use and wear over time. It has some bumps and bruises on the mahogany base. Which we have attempted to capture in the last of the close-up photos, as well as some light scratches, staining, and rough spots on the marble top, which we have also attempted to photograph. These small blemishes and minor abrasions do not detract from the piece in any way, rather giving it additional character, if even seen or noticed at all. This 1800s Music Cabinet is about 40 in. high. 19 in. wide, and 14 ½ in. deep overall. The top has a gallery with a useable surface of 17 in. wide and 13 in. deep. The Marble Top was made to fit as a custom addition, probably when the top finish showed some wear. Made of hardwood, it has an oval beveled mirror that is in good condition overall with some small age flaws. The key and lock work and the single drawer has a brass pull with an elegant Morning Glory design. Two original shelves are included with a newer plywood shelve available. This base is made of solid Walnut wood with burled walnut on the front. It has a white Italian marble top with gray graining. The marble top has a beveled edge. The Candelabra are incredible quality throughout with very finely detailed cast Bronze Mounts. Including 3 beautiful and amazing Maidens heads plus Eagle heads on the candle arms and 3 sets of feet, like no other example I have ever seen. All the Mounts are richly Gold Gilded and show a beautiful old patina with no damage. The Candelabra also feature beautiful carved Marble bodies which show interesting and rich natural designs. I was told the Candelabra have been in the family for about 100 years. I would conservatively date them to the late 19th Century, maybe earlier and I am almost certain they would be Russian in origin. The Candelabra are a beautiful size for display, standing approximately 11-1/2 inches tall and measuring 9 inches wide across the arms. Here I am offering a lovely antique gilt metal(may be brass. Not sure) and marble letter or mail holder. It has been in our family al long as I can remember. Beautiful floral design, lovely from both sides, can't even tell what side is supposed to be the front. Looks to me to be French in origin. Size: 5" wide. 4 1/2" high and 1 1/2" wide. Condition: Good antique condition. Age related losses to gilding. See photos. Shipping: Always at cost. Because of the marble the holder is quite heavy. Shipping in North America is $21.
