A very nice Victorian era oak bent wood stick and ball vanity. Dressing, or decor two panel screen. This wonderful C1890's folding style screen still has its original varnish finish-which is in very fine condtion. All of the metal connectors, washers, and screws are solid brass. Many of the connectors are stamped with the folowing: Pat. Feb. 16'92(1892) This vanity or bedroom screen is in exceptional condition. No broken, missing, or damaged sticks, balls, or spindles. No cracks in the bentwood sections. The metal rods that hold the cloth for the panels appear to be all original. They have a round metal ball on each end that fits perfectly into a round hole on the vertical oak dowels. The screen can be positioned at almost any angle, and folds neatly in half if desired. The early oak stick& ball gem is about 40 1/2 inches tall. ... moreEach of the panels is about 15 3/4 inches wide. Bentwood or stick and ball furniture was only made for a short period of time in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This screen is a fine example of the wonderful workmanship of that era. Hard to find, triple-mirrored dressing table, includes 2 drawers and mirrors that swing in on each side. Drawers work fine, have dove tailed joints. Mirrors in good condition. Style of this vanity has influences of Mission with the straight lines, and also Empire with the curved scrolled front legs, typical of a late 19th century transitional piece. Regarding wood color, it is a medium oak. Some dark areas are shadows and white areas are reflections. As you can see this is a wonderful piece and could be used in many places in a home. Nice Old Antique Oak Chest, Box, Small Size, Knickknack, Jewelry, Vanity Items
Here's a very nice old or antique small oak chest or large oak box we received recently with some estate items. This one is probably a little on the large size to be called a jewelry box. It may have been used as a sewing chest. Or for knickknack, ladies vanity items, etc. It was made in the late 1890's to early 1900's and there is a patent date of December 25, 1994 on the hinges,yes, it appears the patent date occurred on Christmas day at the time) The box is in very nice condition with slight signs of age and use. It has a till or smaller interior covered area made of pine and the bottom is also made of pine. The box is about 14 inches long, 7.75 inches deep and 7.75 inches tall. It is footed and there is nice edge trim around the lid as shown. Lots of different decorative and use possibilities. We don't see many of these ... moresmaller size oak chests. That's about it. This is a very stunning Vanity Dresser in impeccably restored condition. The long beveled mirror in center swivels. The oval beveled mirrors on each side swivel inward(back sides are finished) all mirrors have been re-silvered. A piece of veneer on the top right about 2" by 1-1/2" has been replaced(see photo) and there is an area on bottom of oval mirror on the right measuring about 1" by 1" that has been filled, see photo) It has ornate claw feet on legs as well as on each support under the mirror. Antique Tri-Fold Vanity Mirror with Textured Floral Celluloid Backs - Oak Frame
Offered is this unusual Tri-Fold large travel vanity/shaving mirror. I am not sure whether I would classify it as Victorian or Edwardian in style; it features dark stained oak frames with each section backed by a floral pattern textured celluloid backing. Each panel is 11 3/8 inches by 9 3/8 inches plus metal hinges and round ball rests. It has two eye loops at the top that probably originally had a chain to facilitate hanging the mirror. Each mirror is beveled edge type. Everything appears to be original. Mirrors have some streaking and spotting from age. Though less than one would expect from a mirror that is probably 100 years old. This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The metal"eyes" have surface rust but the hinges and other metal parts are clean, if dulled, in appearance. The frames are still their original dark stained ... morecolor and have some dust in the crevices and a few speckles of white(paint spatters? though careful cleaning will remedy those flaws. The textured celluloid floral backs to the mirror panels appear to be in mint condition. They are ivory colored with dark brown stain in recesses. Each is held in place with small moulding strips that have been nailed into the frame. Very well-made and has stood the test of time. Please examine the photos. This piece would be a fabulous accent in a boudoir or. Really, any room. Could be displayed with mirrors exposed or as a triangular piece with the floral backings exposed. Beautiful Turn of the Century American Oak Dresser Up for your consideration: A wonderful example of fine artistry by American Furniture Makers. This beautiful dresser was purchased at an old estate auction and although a lot of items came from Germany. This belonged to a couple of sisters who moved here from Germany. I am pretty sure they probably purchased it here in America rather than bringing it with them. It does resemble typical American Oak Dressers of the time period- I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of the 1900-1920's. They were quite up in years and the dresser was quite old when they purchased it and I found an Old Catholic Confirmation Certificate(in English) dated 1910 rolled up with what appeared to be an old Marriage License(in German) The lovely Beveled Mirror is in Excellent condition for its age and is framed ... morein a the beautiful Victorian tradition. Antique Dresser All Oak. White Marble Excellent Condition Beveled Mirrors Offered is a beautiful oak dresser or vanity. The outstanding feature is the white marble top and it is in mint condition. This is remarkable considering it's age. The dresser has 3 parts- the mirror assembly. The marble mid-section, and the oak base cabinet. The mirror is attached with 2 wooden rear slats which extend to the base cabinet& screws that hold it rigid. The marble rests on the base. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The buyer can take this dresser home& use it, guaranteed to have a major effect on a room when it comes to decorating. Guaranteed antique- not a reproduction. This will retain value- about 100 years old, perhaps more. DESCRIPTION: The dresser has a 3section mirrored top consisting of a frame with arching top ... moremolding with a carved horizontal over 1/4 round fluted side columns. The center miror is stationary with side mirrors that are hinged& swing out almost 180 degrees. All mirrors have wide bevels. Excellent silvering without blemishes. The marble section is white with a thin grey lines from the stone. It is not composit or manufactured stone. It is clean, no chips, no repairs. The mirror rests on the rear of the top shelf which is over a marble galleried backsplash and opposing side sections. The flat top surface is clean& smooth white marble, all marble is matching and original to the piece. The base cabinet has 2 pull out drawers over 2 swing out doors which open to a large interior with a center horizontal shelf. The base has 1/4 round fluted columns which match the mirror and a center vertical with carving and a burled oval decoration. The pulls are brass, the locks work, a key is provided. The dresser is clean inside, the drawers are not stained, there are no odors, was not stored in a damp location(it's in our house) the drawers slide easily, locks work, this is a nice piece of furniture. I believe the base is oak but my husband is away and he usually confirms for me. I know its a hard wood. Not pine. It has a nice brown finish. The Mirror is beveled.
