It is made of solid wood, I believe it is mahogany and has beautiful grain. It is ... morein exceptionally good condition, for an antique, but does have some light surface scratches on the finish, but not many. There are a couple of small areas of veneer loss. These areas are on the right side edge of the top at the back on both the right and left sides, and one small area on the bottom drawer front next to the front leg. The dresser has a beautifully curved front design similar to a bombe style. The chest of drawers has reeded accents running down both sides at the front that continues onto all four feet, which are straight and tapering. The drawers have the original oval bail pull brass hardware on them. The drawers have dovetail joints. The dresser is 40.75” tall, 42.

Vintage Mahogany Dresser Mirror Potthast Bros. Federal Style Beautiful! LQQK!
This is a Vintage Mahogany Dresser Mirror. Also referred to as a Shaving Mirror or Shaving Stand, hand made by Potthast Brothers in the 1930's. As is typical Potthast, the details on this piece are exquisitely done. The mahogany wood grain is wonderfully rich and the turnings are a masterpiece. There are 3 drawers, and the dovetails on the drawers are cut by hand. The knobs are delicately turned. The mirror is held in place by solid brass thumb pieces carefully inlaid into the posts. The top of the cabinet section is inset and the sides are framed by short turned columns which add an interesting touch and create balance. It measures 24 inches wide by 25 1/4 inches tall to the top of the spindle posts by 9 inches deep. The mirror itself in it's frame is 20 inches by 16 inches. Empire Dresser-Two Drawers Over Three-Mahogany?
Offered is this two drawer-over-three antique Empire style dresser. It is in very good condition. But does have a large“age crack” running the entire width of the top and a shorter one nearby that is about 8” long, as seen in the second photo. There are also numerous minor scratches. Chips, etc. I do not know the age of the dresser but I believe it to be a genuine period piece. I think it is made of veneered mahogany but I am not certain. It is well constructed– the top looks like it is all one piece. 1 1/2” thick! The top two drawers have curved fronts and all have dovetailed corners and matching wooden knobs. They have keyholes but no longer have locks. There is a key. However. The dresser measures approx. 44” high. 43 1/2” wide and 21 1/2” deep. Gorgeous antique Federal chest of drawers. Four graduated. Full length drawers. Wood looks like mahogany with remarkable contrasting diamond pattern inlay work bordering the edges of the drawer faces and down the sides of the front of the piece. Dovetail joints in all of the drawers as well as oval mount, bail handle drawer pulls. The drawer pulls are not original to the piece. Inlaid, shield shaped wooden key surrounds. Turned feet show influence from earlier styles. Panelled sides and an overhanging, unmolded top complete the dresser. Piece dates from the early 1800's. someone has been bugging me to list this twin bed set for 3 or 4 years so i consented to do so the other day when he called. doubtful he will buy them. But they are offered for sale at this time. this is what is known as a show stopper. i have been piddling with antiques for nearly 50 years and have never seen or owned a better twin bed set. here we have an r j horner twin bed set created by horner in his french style. they are of course mahogany with the finest grain you will ever find on a furniture piece of mahogany. the beds are thick, that is the head and foot board. they have wonderful form and beauty and are as you can see carved to death. the high boy as you also see matches the beds. the high boy is just the very best and will take your breath away. it is serpentine in the front as well as the sides. the beds have high dollar box ... moresprings and mattress. they do not go with the set, but i would sell them at a very discounted price. i have about 1000 each in the box springs and mattress including the comforter set. i would sell them for 300 each if someone buys the set and wants them. to my knowledge no one has ever slept on them. i have 8 bedrooms up stairs and really don't have many overnighters and i don't remember them ever being used. at any rate, should you buy the set, these can go with it for 600.00 on top of the sale price of the set. i have the box springs and mattress sitting on slats that attach to the bed rails, should you want the top of the mattress lower, the box spring and mattress can rest on the floor between the rails and lower the top about 10 inches. the mahogany grain on the beds and high boy is not to be surpassed, it is the very best. the condition of the set is mint, but i can't say mint because it is over 120 years old and must have a few little bumps and bruises here and there but none noticeable. it is museum quality however. the rails fit into the head and foot boards with dowels and are then bolted together within the rails and it is as solid as ever and does not wi

This is a fantastic consigned piece from a Wellesley. MA estate. This is an bureau of solid mahogany from the first half of the 1900s, to our determination. In fact, it has the old Mahogany Association label on the right inside drawer, which was used by American quality furniture manufacturers starting at the turn of the 20th century until the mid century to designate genuine crafted mahogany from other woods. This piece is the real thing! It was professionally refinished by a well-known restorer of high-end and antique furniture in the Boston area. Condition is outstanding. The bureau is just gorgeous! For your consideration here is an ANTIQUE MAHOGANY DOUBLE BOW FRONT DRESSER CHEST OF DRAWERS WITH MIRROR. It has a double bow front design with six dovetailed drawers each has oval brass handles with bail. Beautifuly scrolled trimwork on the apron. Reeded central part of dresser and edges of the top makes this piece very elegant. The mirror has circular carvings on top. Measurements: dresser is 35"H x 54" L x 19"D mirror: 35"H x 42 1/2"L All our furniture is vintage. And as such it has the normal scrapes and dings one would expect with pre-owned furniture. Aside from this, the furniture is in great shape, and while the pieces could use a good polishing, should serve the next owner for decades to come. It stands on four wonderfully made vasal formed legs with original wooden caster wheels. This is a wonderfully rugged& heartly built super early 19th Century chest that has been well cared for and professionally maintained from the furniture collection a fine Connecticut estate. We attribute it to one of four New York City cabinet making shops circa 1827. The glove boxes have their working locks and keys. Each original lock is hand mortised into the drawers they came on. These are pictures of this piece as it came ... moreoff the truck. The sunshine was simply to bright to get acurrate photos. We promise to run a much better set in the next few days. We did shoot a full set but they don't look anything close to how truly nice this is. It has all its original chamfered drawer panels and frame work. It has had split pine panel professionally repaired about 25 years ago along with a new back leg block. This estate had its own handyman with a great shop. He loved and cared for a super collection of 40 pieces of New York City 1820-1830 Federal furniture over the last 40 Years. This dresser is 42" long. 21" wide(deep) 40 1/4 tall at the marble top work surface, 45 tall at the gloveboxes and 72 1/2" tall at the top of the mirrors incredible frame. The mirror has its original finely casted thumb screw pins that finely thread into inset brass channels on the mirror's frame. It has many features consistent with his craftsmanship and style.He was regarded as one of the finest cabinetmakers in the United States. It is quite remarkable considering the state of our country at the time regarding slavery.He was African American, also known as a free man of color by historians.To be such successful entrepreneur and distinguished cabinetmaker was very rare, considering all of the societal norms at the time. Mr. Day served some of the wealthiest clients including two governors of North Carolina.Word spread quickly about his amazing craftsmanship and quality. He was an artisan as well as a cabinetmaker.There is a bronze statue of Mr. Day that stands outside ... morethe entrance to the Museum of History. Located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Wonderful crotch/flame mahogany veneered drawer fronts.The cabinetmaker was an artist as well as a craftsman to select such stunning crotch mahogany and the skill to showcase. It is second to none. This 7 drawer chest has fantastic grains throughout.The entire chest was hand made, no doubt by an early American craftsman. A rare feature is the style of the curved drawer front of the 2 upper drawers on the lower chest(photo) It features incredible precise hand cut dovetail joinery on all 4 corners of each drawer. The drawers also feature hand planed(chamfered) drawer bottoms, with no evidence of machine tooling.The drawers have solid brass inlaid keyhole escutcheons. Massachusetts circa 1795-1805. We have been extremely fortunate to turn up two Dodge pieces during this past year. This piece had us on the fence between Samuel MacIntyre and the Dodge's. The simliarities between the known Dodge pieces we have handled and this dresser leaves us with little doubt. This piece has a very unusual upper deck containing a two drawer glove box. This is bordered by a wonderfully scrolled three sided dovetailed galley in addition to having finely carved columns flowing into poweful period Sheraton legs. Its case is built in a two over ... morethree drawer format. There was tiny 3/4" diameter Sheraton brass rosettes at one time at the curled ends of the galleries back board. We are presetly hunting down a pair and will continue to even if this has sold before we track a pair down. These are only decorative features but we'd like to see them back where they belong. This piece has been well cared for and properly maintained throughout its lifetime. It is in fantastic condition and has 100% of its original structual integrity right down to the base glue blocks. Each drawer, back and base panels are made from wide board chamfered pine planks. It is 42 3/4" long, 19 1/2" wide(deep) 37 3/4" tall at the top of its lower deck and 47" tall at the top of the back gallery. French Empire Mahogany Marble Top Commode Chest Dresser with Gilt Mounts c. 1805

Description: This listing is for a 19th Century French Empire Period Mahogany Marble Top Ormolu Mounted Commode. Circa 1805. It is a fascinating work of art, constructed in three parts- first the marble, which is extremely heavy at just over an inch thick(1 1/16" thick) the top of the chest with the top drawer, and the bottom of the chest with the lower three drawers. Lifting the marble reveals the construction of the topmost portion. Each of the front corners with a full gallery of hand cut dovetails that lock the top into the thick corners. All of the secondaries are solid oak, joined with large pegged tenons along the frame, this large thick top joining the lower case with thick through-tenon wedged mortise joints- by ... morepulling out the wedge, the tenon drops out of the top portion, freeing it from the lower case. This lifts away from the case as long as the columns are not nailed at the top. The top drawer features the most incredible gilt ormolu mounts. Cast with stunning attention to even the smallest detail. Horizontal curled anthemions flank a seated angel, inscribing in a blank scroll. With wings furled behind, detailed even down to the tiniest feather, the angel rests with legs slightly bent as the robe flows from his legs, a trumpet peering out from behind him. Over either columnar support, gilt ormolu mounts of angels flank the top drawer, the figure on the right peering towards the sky with a globe behind him, the angel on the left sitting on a carefully crafted French Empire chair reading a scroll. The turned columns on either side rest on square plinths. Capped at the top and bottom with gold gilt flamed mounts, finely detailed throughout. Three drawers slide in and out of the case, each hand dovetailed front and back with solid oak secondary woods making up the frame and bottoms. Made in England, Circa 1890, Flame mahogany, Turned feet, Handcut dovetailed drawers, Distressed finish, Cosmetic issues(see description and pictures) Sturdy, This stunning bowfront chest was originally made in England during the Victorian furniture era(circa 1890) This chest has a beautiful mahogany patina. The finish is quite rustic and bears distressing consistent with its age. On either side of the chest are beautiful columns that end in sturdy turned feet. There are locks present but no key. The wooden handles are indicative of the Victorian period ... moreand each of the drawers open and close smoothly. Each drawer is also joined with hand cut dovetails. Besides the distressed finish, there are age splits to the sides and top and the bottom left knob is missing about half of the part that sits on the drawer. The front feet have some pieces missing in the back of the feet that you cannot see unless you lay the chest down. These are cosmetic issues and do not affect the structural integrity of the chest. The knob is not even noticeable unless you are looking for it. Overall this is a beautiful chest that will make a wonderful addition to any home. The two over three drawer layout is traditional and the drawers are spacious. Each drawer consists of handcut dovetails. A sign of its age. The flame mahogany has developed a wonderful patina. The wooden knobs are true to the Victorian period. The sides have a few minor age splits to them. These turned feet are very sturdy and in good condition. This chest looks great from any angle! Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. This piece has six drawers ina 3 over 3 configuration. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in good condition. There is some noticeable silver loss to the mirror(see pictures) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some noticeable wear associated with age, including chips and breakage to the veneers or inlay, including the lamp maedallion at the top of the mirror. See ... morepictures. There is also a chip out of the left side finial and the right side finial is missing altogether. The knob that goes over the swivel action of the mirror on the right side has come off, but we do have it. The wheels of the casters do no turn easily and probably need to be oiled.
