It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers over four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The drawers have dovetail joinery, and the entire chest is made of solid wood. There are three drawers on the top, inside of the two doors, and two larger drawers on the bottom. The original metal hardware in intact, as are the original hinges. There are some light surface scratches and dings to the finish, from general use. There is one small area of veneer loss on some of the inner drawer fronts on the top half of the chest. The chest is 48.5” tall, 36” wide, 20” deep. It is a gorgeous antique piece from the 1920’s that would be an amazing addition to any antique collection.

1700- 1800's Sheraton chest/ dresser. Two toned wood. Hand carved and just a beautiful piece. I think it may be walnut and maple but could be mahogany too. Exquisite piece with the beautiful designed front and glove box on the top. This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen! I don't know the maker because I don't know alot about furniture so can't answer too many questions. If I guessed by looking at other ones listed on ebay it looks like a Sheraton but I don't know how to really tell for sure. But here is a description of Sheraton furniture and it is exactly like this chest with the marketry and different woods and straight and tapered legs. Four graduated drawers with matching flame veneered fronts. I suspect this might be walnut but may also be a brown mahogany. Bought out of Reading PA. All drawers are dovetailed& beaded. The drawers runners are worn but run smoothly. There is some small chipping to the beading. One of the balls of the right front foot has a chip. Retains its locks. Brasses are replacements. Ogee Bracket Feet(replacements) Dovetailed Case Top and bottom. This Chest of Drawers was always a low chest. The sideboards come all the way through the case to the form the outline for the feet, typical of Pennsylvania Furniture made around 1789-1790's. This chest has been restored. No significant reworkings have happened aside form replacing the feet. there are however several drawer patches, and 2 lock holes slugged up. The hardware are most likely replacements. American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. Probably Philadelphia or the Delaware River Valley, c. 1770-80 Item# 130108OSP25 This is an excellent example from the Philadelphia or Delaware River Valley region of Pennsylvania. A fine American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers c. the third quarter of the 18th Century 1770-80. Of quite desirable proportions, the chest has a refined presence with well preserved color in the walnut case. The quality of the chest is self evident, the top with a sandwiched molding wrapping around the rim, projecting slightly over the front and deeply over the back- this allowed the chest to rest flush with the wall despite the thick floor molding. Each of the graduated drawers has a molded lip of the solid. The faces solid walnut, the sides and bottom crafted of poplar: these are hand dovetailed, ... morethe bottoms deeply chamfered and slid into rabbets in the sides; the riven bottom boards run perpendicular to the face, nailed at the back with(mostly) original wrought iron rosehead nails with white pine blocks fitted in the chamfered edges along the sides. Original steel locks are retained in the drawers, locks now absent, the brasses replaced with period batwings- the chest had Federal oval brasses placed on it at one point, that owner drilling new holes very close to the original holes; the current brasses are in those same later holes. The back of the chest is joined with two original hand planed planks nailed around the perimeter. The top and bottom join to the chest with hidden dovetails. Evident in the score marks on the inside of the case. The feet are preserved in almost entirely original condition other than age appropriate repairs(noted below) the form of these ogee bracket feet is above reproach, a fine scroll cut swirl that has robust flare to it and terminates in a bladed edge. Round figured knobs appear to be original. Drawers have hand-cut lap dovetails and cockbeading of the type brought into use starting in the 1770s. Overall condition is excellent. There is a chip approximately 1" long from the veneer along the front right edge. Which no doubt can be easily repaired by a professional. Other than the drawer sides,drawer bottoms and drawer backs which are solid chestnut. The left side panel is the most gorgeous walnut side panel I have ever seen, no question about it. The burling looks like a storm cloud/ball of fire.The cabinet maker was not just a craftsman of the highest order, ... morehe was an artist as well. The side panels are 5/8 inch thick, cut as one plank of solid walnut.The top is solid walnut with a beautiful shaped edge. The drawer bottoms. Sides and backs are all made from solid chestnut(possibly oak)Old growth chestnut is highly sought after by wood lovers, it is virtually extinct, now being reclaimed at very high prices,these chestnut drawers that I hand rubbed a finish on, they are gorgeous. The chestnut drawers bottoms are chamfered by hand planing into the drawer sides. All of the drawers were restored, some drawer runners were replaced/restored. The lower drawers have some side to side movement when they slide due to age related shrinkage.Notice the tiny hand carved dovetail, a fine display of the highest level of craftsmanship. A very nice antique. Circa 1920s- 1930's, carved walnut front and legs Louis XVI style petite chest of drawers. The sides are walnut stained maple, the secondary woods maple. All drawers contain their locks, brass escutcheons, and ring pulls. The left side panel has a few shrinkage cracks. Original finish. It measures 39-2/2" tall by 31" wide by 16" deep. The marble top has been broken into four pieces and neatly glued back.

Offered for auction is this nice large walnut mirror frame that attaches to the top of a chest of drawers. Two walnut supports with brass turn screw attachments support the mirror frame(no mirror) The supports have screw holes in the bases of them to be screwed down to the top of the chest. Mirror can be angled up or down with the brass adjustment handles. Frame has nice parallel carved reeded lines all around and the dimensions are outside. 35 1/4" x 29 1/8" Inside, 30" x 24 1/2" Weight is about 10 lbs.

Pennsylvania c. 1805-20 Four graduated drawers flanked by chamfered columns over splayed French feet Item# 1301PYP21PZ While the Hepplewhite form employing splayed french feet in case pieces is well developed. Even common, this chest exudes a certain strength that is uncommon in Federal period works of the Hepplewhite style. The solid walnut and solid poplar construction gives it inordinate weight, but the intense lift of the feet, raising the apron sharply in the corners, eliminates the heaviness of the look. The projecting top is crafted of two boards, the last 3/4" along the front actually a continuation of the front of the chest up through ... morethe top, a somewhat unusual and perhaps unique construction method. Surrounding this is a dropped and applied molding over four graduated drawers. These with molded lips of the solid, each framed with hand dovetailed poplar boards with a deeply chamfered poplar bottom sliding into rabbets in the frame and tacked at the back with square nails. The dovetailing method is somewhat original, using very large dovetails at the front, smaller dovetails at the back, the lowest back dovetail squared on it's lower edge to receive the drawer bottom in the rabbet cut. Flanking these drawers are chamfered columns on either side. Both sides of the case are single solid planks of walnut. Incredibly large boards with wonderful grain appearance. Five vertical poplar boards line the back of the case, these entirely undisturbed and nailed in neat rows, the boards on the far left and right sides continuing all the way to the ground. As a result of this construction method, the feet are in simply outstanding stable condition, despite the incredible weight being supported. This charming piece of furniture has been in our home for 20 years, after having been owned by another member of our family. A family letter states the piece was made by James Everets, born in Pennsylvania in 1805, who came to Canada as a young man and built his first home in the bushland in Rainham Township, now Haldimand County, in southern Ontario. He gave the chest to his youngest son Jacob Everets on his 21st birthday, September 30th, 1865. Height: 54" Width: 40" Depth: 18.5" We are moving and unable to keep this historic piece. Made of walnut burl wood which was the most decorative veneer used in the period and much sought after and considered a"prized possession" It also features a masterful intricate marquetry design. Additionally it shows carved details.
