A recognised design made by Benham and Froud and so far as I understand to a design by Dr Christopher Dresser. Missing the fire irons but maybe someone has them to go with it? Cannot see the mark of the orb and cross but does have the impressed number 39 on the base. Would have originally been sold with a garniture of two fire iron rests. Circa 1890-1910. CONDITION: Good/fair. Has some wear to the surface around the hooks and the ball base and legs. Three of the arms of the hooks are a bit loose and will tighten but at the wrong angle and will sit in the right place. There is crackle in the porcelain and the clock face looks like old paper with a rip at the bottom where the manufacturers name is. The hands and glass face look fine. The brass on the clock back is marked up with what appears to be a date of 6/9/62 and numbers 83052 scripted in the brass. On the bottom of the porcelain are the#s 6886, 18 and the latter G.
