The box measures 2 1/2 inches high when box pieces are together. The box is 4 1/4 inches long and about 4 inches wide. It is a beautiful gold detailed porcelain over a base perimeter of mint green. Small dots of gold in each lattice criss-cross really gives it a Victorian richness. Top it off with a romantic courting scene and what a gift this must have been in its time. I cannot place the exact time of production, sometime after 1869. The only drawback on this item is that the lid fits loosely on the base. I have for auction this evening a late 19th century piece of antique porcelain made in Limoges France but decorated right here at home in the USA by the fine artisans at the Pairpoint glass and metal works in Massachusetts. This gorgeous tray features a lovely and delicate sweeping mold shape and is trimmed in a lime green and gold gilt border decoration. The center of the tray is filled with elaborately executed small and dainty little orchids in the most amazing palette of enamel paints I have ever seen. They literally jump out at you and are textured to give added depth and interest for the eye and fingers to feel. This tray was painted by a master artist as all the pieces by this factory were and is highly sought after by collectors of great Limoges design and decorated pieces. This is a beautiful old piece of glass. Great patina! Victorian milk glass oblong square dresser box. This box measures 10 1/4 x 3 1/2 x 2 inches. It is hand painted with a floral design as you can see in the photo. There is obvious wear to the paint. But you can clearly see the original flo r al design. So pretty! This has two small chips on the lid with multiple tiny nicks as well. There is also a small chip on the bottom rim. The top lid looks like a crack. However on further inspection it appears to be a seam or straw mark that has been there since its creation. All of this is felt before seen due to its intricate and ornately detailed trim. This is a beautiful hand painted Nippon dresser Jar. It features hand painted dark and light pink roses and rose buds with two tone green leaves. It is a rich cobalt blue with gold moriage and it is dotted with green jewels. It has the blue maple leaf mark. It does have flaws. The lid has been broken in half and glued back together. RS Prussia dresser tray floral mold hand painted roses gold accents beading EXC
I have for auction this evening a gorgeous tray by the factory of Reinhold Schlegelmilch aka RS Prussia aka the mold king. First let me say that this tray has all the bells and whistles. Its rare to find hand painting from this studio and the roses are hand painted along with most of the other floral designs with less transfer than I think I have ever seen on a piece by this maker. Its rare to find so much gold and even more rare to find actual gold beading and certainly in the quantity that grace the face of this piece. Floral molds of this intricacy are rare but this tray has it with the pierced handles and along the sides as well. Finally the deep mold is rare and beautiful and tops this tray off as a real showpiece and must have for any and all RS Prussia fans. This piece is unmarked but is immediately recognizable as a piece of Prussia ... moreby R. Schlegelmilch. Exquisite! Just see my pictures and I am quite positive you will agree. Dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. The piece measures 12" long by 7.5" wide and stands nearly an inch tall attesting to the depth of this amazing mold. The piece dates from the hay day of this maker around 1880 or so. Condition report: This piece is in very near mint condition with no chips. Cracks, crazing or usage marks that I can see. There is some wear to the gold accents in the wells at the corners of the dish but this is very minor given the age of the piece. There is one firing pop on one edge of a floral accent under the edge that is rough but glazed over so it happened in the firing and there are some sand deposits on the under edge as well but nothing that detracts at all from the show quality of this incredible piece. DESCRIPTION I am a 12 year veteran buyer/seller on Ebay. Now selling twice a year. In October and April. Most listings are antique or vintage Asian pieces with a few vintage European decorative items. I will have some vintage fine gold and silver jewelry as well. My 30 listings this month will be available till April 28th. This piece of late Meiji dynasty porcelain is a great example of the Japanese skill and artistic sense in mixing motifs and decorations. The oval tray combines delicately hand painted floral designs on white porcelain within three round reserves. Representing the season of spring, summer and fall. The rest of the surface is painted with a mat enamel brown enamel. Favored during late 19th and early 20th century, on which a gold chrysantemum flower and stems were added with two circles filled with a the sacred fungal foliage ... moremotif, this is repeated along the inside border of the tray. The gilding is profusely used to accentuate all the elements of the piece, it has acquired an orangy patina confirming the age. Finally the rest of the brown background on the base has tiny hand applied turquoise moriage dots, adding texture. The base is unglazed. Also typical of this era, with a rectangular mat brown enamel mark with two gold hand painted characters that represent'made by the Kutani company' Measuring 9.25 inches by 6.25 inches by.5 inch high at rim. The Lidded Box is excellent filled with potpourri and the lid sitting ajar allows the fra grance to fill the room. The small plate is perfect for trinkets. Rings, et c. and the lovely tapered cand le sticks can hold a shorter or taller candle. The bottoms are all fitted with pads. So furniture is not marked. The entire set is in excellent condition with no chips. Nicks or cracks. The hand p ainting is in excellent vibran t condition. I had to peel back 2 of the labels so the markings could be inspected. The B ox measures 5 1/4" tall to the finale on the lid. And 3 1/2" tall without the ... morelid. It is 7 1/4 x 5 1/4" rectangular. The Candle Sticks measure 8 1/2" tall with a base of 3 5/8" square and just under a 1" opening for the candle. The Trinket Plate measures 4 1/2" square. Not sure what the wood is, it is painted with old pale green paint Three drawers with original wood drawer pulls, the top pull is different, not sure if it was broken, nicely constructed with beadboard sides and empire detail. Old unfinished wood on the back, with the top third missing. The top drawer is missing its back and there is a small piece or wood trim missing on the bottom left(see pic 6) Very nice little piece in good primitive antique condition.
