Crafted during the first years of the 19th Century. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The back of the chair has a graceful bow, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank seat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout- the early painted surfaces are probably not the original layers, but seem to protect earlier layers beneath, these quite possibly the earliest surfaces. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine windsor chairs. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition Report: Paint worn throughout. Probably not the original surfaces. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. Plank seat split with a butterfly joint securing seat from beneath and two screws locking it in place. Chair is structurally strong, but could possibly be too weak to use functionally as a chair. Please review the images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

ESTATE FIND! 1957 CALIFORNIA POTTERY UNIQUE SQUIRREL MAN'S DRESSER VALET This VINTAGE POTTERY PLANTER SQUIRREL I have named"BUCKY" Bucky is from the Fine Enterprises Inc. of California and dates back to 1957. This is one of those unique pieces made for the male market and was used as a'catchall' as a man empties his pants pockets at the end of the day. In the front two bowl shapes in the lap of the squirrel the change out of a pocket could be placed in one'bowl' and in the other could be rings or a watch. The side of the squirrel has an opening at the tail where the man's wallet could be kept overnight. I have never seen a dresser valet in squirrel form before. Only in a kangaroo shape. This one is clearly marked too on the bottom which gives a definite date of manufacture. I do notice a bit of crazing in ... morethe glaze which is typical of older pottery pieces. On the back of the squirrel I do spot a couple of what I am calling'sand' bumps which may be some flaws in the ceramic when the piece was made that is not a chip in the piece at all. He is just so cute and could still be put to use today! The uses are ENDLESS, if your imagination is also! Rest assured all items will be packaged with GREAT CARE! VINTAGE CHERRY Childs - Salesmans Sample Chest :: Dresser-Miniature - OLD RARE
Selling this Fantastic early 4 drawer cherry chest with porcelain knobs and a nice cut out base. it about 17 1/2 inches high with the splash and 16 1/2 inches at its widest point by about 9 inches at its widest point. The chest is hand made with square nails and all the drawer bottom are chamfered so they will fit that's where they used a draw knife to thin the wood so it would be thin enough to fit in the groove. The color is the typical red from cherry as it ages. You just cant duplicate that patina. as you can see in the pics the secondary wood has darkened from the age which I believe the secondary wood to be poplar or pine. The chest has been finished recently due to a large black rings that where in the top now they are gone. There was a little split to the molding on one side where the molding goes up the front at the end of the ... moredrawers which I did post a pic of it, was glued. The chest over all given the age is in great shape. I did want to say that the splash is held on with strips of wood but the nails in that are round finishing nails which could have been used later not sure but really doesn't effect the chest. The dresser base stands on solid oak panelled front legs with decorative ogee mouldings forming a panel to the front legs with a classic egg shaped ovoid oval cabochon rising over with very decorative scrolled spandrels with a deep moulding above which are the split turned decorations flanking either side of the drawers and decorated on the drawer fronts. There are two panels to each drawer giving the appearance of four drawers running across the front. But forming two drawers, with original pierced ... morebatwing handles with shaped droppers, set in a plain frame with a moulded edge. The dresser has planked sides, the top being deep moulded, all in solid oak. The drawers have dovetail joints and period style drawer runners with solid oak linings. The dresser is of classic French design with carved cabriole legs to the front and pad form feet having a shaped apron with decorative carved scrollwork with three carved panelled doors with raised mouldings and carved star decoration to the centre with mouldings flanking either side of the centre door matching the centre drawer with matched mouldings to the drawers with a raised moulding on a solid mahogany ground. There are classic French style turned knobs with rectangular engraved and pierced back-plates. Complete with a ... moreworking locks and key, with panelled sides. Rising over this is a cabriole leg dresser rack with matched carved decorations to the top with classic star decoration flanked by foliate carvings set in a shaped apron with a flared cornice above. Features a rotating mirror and(3) operable drawers(2 small at top, 1 large at bottom) Arts and Crafts style. Unsigned/no maker's mark(s) Exact age is unknown but I would venture to guess it is from the late 19th/early-to-mid 20th century. Found at an indoor flea market in Andover, N.J. in a booth that was filled with only amazing, old treasures) Made of a lightweight/low density variety of wood(perhaps oak, pine or alike) held together with both nails& screws(see pics) Stained dark brown with lovely patina. Excellent vintage condition with NO major defects whatsoever. Some small/light scratches(mostly to dresser top surface) and other very minor"blemishes" ... morethroughout. Structurally solid& sturdy. FAB ANTIQUE EMBROIDERY Roses Flowers Table Dresser RUNNER Scarf & Metallic Trim
From an old Estate we have a fabulous Antique Boudoir Dresser Runner. This beauty measures 47" long by 19 1/2" wide including the inch of metallic trim surrounding the entire piece. The background fabric looks to be a black cotton. Perhaps a polished cotton as it has a wee sheen to it. It has vibrant floral embroidery work on both ends of the runner. The embroidery floss has a sheen to it also, possibly silk or a rayon. There are a couple of small areas possibly an inch and a half long were the floss has worn down/off, and there are a few loose threads on both ends that could be tacked down or just snipped off. The entire piece has a blue and gold metallic edging and we believe the metallic edging may have had more of a swag edging, but with time has rolled up/crinkled on the edges. We found one small spot that we believe can be ... moreremoved, its not real noticeable. Please enlarge the photos provided. It is still in wonderful condition, mentioning the above for accuracy.
