Crafted during the first years of the 19th Century. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The back of the chair has a graceful bow, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank seat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout- the early painted surfaces are probably not the original layers, but seem to protect earlier layers beneath, these quite possibly the earliest surfaces. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine windsor chairs. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition Report: Paint worn throughout. Probably not the original surfaces. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. Plank seat split with a butterfly joint securing seat from beneath and two screws locking it in place. This listing is for an antique. Circa 1900, DITHRIDGE trivet or dresser box in the RAY END pattern. This little box has most of the original paint that was used at the turn of the century. This cold paint process darkens with age and can be removed with paint remover. It is often left for collectors for authenticity. This box is in excellent condition with no damage. It measures 4" X 2 1/8" X 1 3/4" and has the number 26 inside the lid and again on the base of the piece. This is how the Dithridge Company marked their molds.

It is pattern#23 with heavy floral carving. The mirror is appx 9.5” x 4.5”The glass in the mirror is distortion free so it will not streak. Tarnish or cloud. The brush appx. 8.25" x 3” and the DuPont fine nylon bristles are set into a imported Rosewood base. The comb is 7.75" long. All three pieces are stamped Gorham. Sterling, 23. This set is not monogrammed and in perfect used, displayed condition. I do not see any dings, breaks or scuffs.Three hair brush bristles out of place(sticking out to the side) No teeth are missing on the comb but four teeth are slightly curved. Listing this evening a wonderful set of solid brass pulls and knobs recently removed from a 2 over 2 vintage bureau/dresser(dresser beyond repair) The drawers and pulls have never been cleaned so they retain an excellent original patina. The dresser was unusual in that it had two knobs on each of the small top drawers. Most older dressers would only have one pull per drawer on the upper smaller drawers. Syroco(Syracuse Ornamental Company) made a host of these type of items using a process of woodlike composition in molds made from original wood carvings. Most common are the wall decor items. These were from my Grandmother who was born in 190 1 but it is unknown how long she has had them and or when she acquired them. The age of these boxes are also unknown but seem to be the style of the turn of the century. They are stamped made in Denmark. I was told that there was an appraisal done several years ago but I have no specifics. These boxes are in great shape for there ag e and both boxes compliment each other. The one with the red velvet is the larger o f the two. The hinges are good on both. Great patina and detail on both as well.
