This is a great little ... morechippy piece. Do not know the history, my guess it was a hand made piece by someone with very good wood working skill. There is a nice carved pediment across the top over an early mirror. Turned columns on the sides of the mirror and nice decorative trim around the mirror. There are two shallow wide drawers and two square deeper drawers on the bottom. As you can see in the pictures one of the drawer bottoms was made from a wood crate and one of the sides also shows the imprint of a wood crate under the paint(see last picture) There are old metal wheels on the bottom. In good solid antique condition. The paint is worn and chipped, there is wear to the mirror with some silver loss, on the side where the imprint of the crate can be seen there is a break to the trim wood on the back corner. On the old wood backing it looks like there is an old water mark. It has seen years of use. Still a great primitive chippy piece that could be left as is, or repainted for a bright clean finish. The top piece with the columns and the mirror is held on with screws and can be removed to cut down on shipping cost. Dresser measures 31" tall. 19" wide and about 12" deep. Rare L. C & W. L. Cron tiger Quartered Oak & Curly Flame Birch Mirror Dresser
I have found similar bedroom suites in Cron's 1898 catalog but I think this set might be a little older than those. The ones I found are listed as"Quartersawn Oak and(very rare) Curly Birch Bed Room Suites" This dresser is called a"Pattern Glass Mirror Dresser with French Bevel" and is"Mahoganized" with"swelled top drawer" according to their catalog which gives it the spectacular reddish brown color. It has the original hardware that matches the other items I have from this set with motifs of scrolls. Feathers and plumes. There is no mirror frame and also no casters. I am certain these are a match as I also have the mirror with the same motifs. And this is also carried through on the bedstead. The sets that are similar to this one are on the first pages of the catalog, so I am assuming that these ... morewere the very best that the Cron Company would have to offer. They are also curly birch and are mahoganized. This dresser measures 43.5 inches wide by 30.5 inches tall. And is 21 inches deep at the widest point in the center. The L. C& W. L. I stripped the top and left slight remains of its past in the surface. It was then cleaned and hand wiped with 3 coats of furniture wax. It gives a great luster with protection and not a shiny poly look. It is very sturdy and about 100 years old. It has minor wear and tear on the wood but so would you at that age. Antique Tiger Oak Dresser W/ Beveled Mirror 4 drawers PALMDALE CA PICKUP ONLY
This is a tiger oak antique dresser that I've had for years. It's time to sell so my loss is your gain! Mirror has lovely carvings at the top and bottom but also some dark areas. Please see photos. Also has beveled edges and is marked 1908 on the back. Honestly, it could be 1906, I can't pull it away from the wall as yet. In good antique condition with one small hole(see pix#11) that my husband made to attach wire to secure it to the wall. We live in earthquake country. Dresser looks great. No obvious scratches. There is 3 or 4 small chips on the bottom of the front(see pix#12) I'm sure the back is rough though, as was the custom way back then. It has 4 good sized drawers. The handles may be reproduction, the screws look new. The locks look old though. Dovetailed corners show it was once painted green, but has been stripped ... moreback to its original finish. Back piece of drawers slide into place. The legs have small wheel casters on the bottom. Dresser measures 42 inches across the widest point. 22 1/2 inches deep. Dresser is 35 inches tall and the mirror adds another 40 inches. Mirror frame is 38 inches wide at the bottom. Hence the name'hotel dresser' It has four drawers on the higher side all complete with the brass around the keyholes. The lower side has a drawer over a hat/bonnet box(this drawer missing the brass key lining) The drawers and hat box door all have wooden handles. There is a back splash on the lower side that may or may not have been added at one time, I'm not sure. It can be removed or left on, your preference. It is a beautiful quarter sawn oak grain. Both sides of the dresser are paneled. It is circa 1875. In overall very very good condition. Intact, sturdy and functional. The dresser width measures 40 inches, dresser depth measures 19 inches, and the height from the floor to the top of the dresser base measures 25 inches,and this piece weighs approximately 120 lbs. The mirror portion does lift off to allow easier transport and moving. We believe the old beveled mirror to be original and it measures 35 1/2 inches high by 29 inches wide and is in fine antique condition with only some slight cloudiness and silver dusting that's age appropriate.
