Here for auction we have a beautiful Georgian oak sideboard or dresser base dating to the mid 18th century. This great example full of character has its original top over two frieze drawers and a further two fielded panel cupboard doors flanked by panelled sides and is raised on stile feet. The drawers are solid ak with nailed joints and later handles. The sideboard has a lovely rich colour and is in good condition for age. The sideboard is solid in build and structurally sound with the only worthy note being it seems to very slightly slant one way but we cannot see why as its very well constructed and does not wobble. Antique Tiger Oak Victorian Era c.1880 Round Shaving Mirror- On Tilting Frame- DESCRIPTION A handsome antique shaving mirror on tilting stand. Made entirely of solid tiger oak grained wood. The mirror frame, tilting arms, base and round ball feet all with beautiful graining visable. This one is from the late Victorian era circa 1880's. It's in original untouched condition, not refinished. It also retains the original mirror glass and backing for the round mirror. The round mirror frame is 1" wide and has a deep beveled edge. The two arms have knobs at the sides that can be loosened allowing you to tilt the framed mirror portion. Tightening the knob will then hold it in that fixed position. The arms have lovely turnings and are mortised through the wide shaped chamferred edge base. The base has four round ball feet. We've ... moreleft this as found. We have not polished or refinished the wood it is completly original. Shows good wear, but no splits or cracks or breaks in the wood. And we have not removed the original mirror glass from the frame. As expected with mirror glass of this age, it does show wear to the silvering. Of course, if you like, you could replace the mirror with contemporary mirror glass. We like it just the way it is. Showing it's good age. Size: 12-1/4" high overall- 15-3/4" long and 5-1/2" wide at the base- mirror frame measures 9-3/4" across CONDITION Very Good. The wood has not been refinished. Heirloom Golden OAK bed frame and matching dresser- estate furniture c 1900
This bedroom set has been in my mother's family for 5 generations. I'm not sure of the exact age. I am not a dealer, but my calculations it puts it as most likely late 1800's or maximum early 1920's. There are some minor cosmetic dings and damage, but it's in amazing condition for 100+ years old, especially considering we all used it growing up. A true testament to the quality of furniture makers of years gone by. As I said. I am not a professional antique dealer and do not have the vocabulary to describe all the intricacies. I can tell you this, these pictures don't even do it justice in my opinion(but I'm not a professional photographer either) The bed will accommodate a full mattress and at least a 6'4" man. The applied carvings and scrolls(decorative moulding) on headboard and footboard are all intact ... moreand the footboard has a rolling pin top on it. Which sets it apart from all the other ones I have seen while researching this. dimensions: 81" long, 62"tall(headboard) 60" wide, 38" tall(footboard) The rolling pin top comes off for moving, storing. One end tip of the rolling pin is a bit loose, it just needs to be tapped back on with a new nail. I haven't done it because I'm hoping the person who buys this may have access to the authentic type nails and not one from Home Depot(like me) Claw feet with original wooden wheels. The dresser comes apart in two pieces. The top piece has two bonnet/hat boxes with mirrored doors and a shelf in each. With drawers underneath. These are SO cool! My mother had vintage hats for us to use as dress up clothing and I loved keeping my favorites in these'secret' hiding places that had been used to hold the'fancy lady hats' There is a recessed mirror in the middle that can tilt, depending on height of owner.
