The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being popular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. Antique Oak 5 drawer Dresser This is a oak 5 drawer dresser. Sometimes called a high boy dresser or a flat front. This has a backboard on the top. This piece is in original condition. This has original finish and has not been refinished or restored. This measures 41-1/2" wide across the top flat surface. 18-1/2" deep. 47" tall not including backboard which is 7" tall. This dresser could be used the way it is if you just need a solid usable piece. I am selling it as one to refinish. The finish has dried out and turned dark and is also is spotty or missing. The dresser is still a solid piece. I dont see any major damage or missing parts. The back board has started to delaminate and will need some glue. The rest can just be stripped and refinished. As with most old original dressers the drawers may need cleaned inside and ... moresome work to make them open smoothly. Most of the time they just need cleaned which would happen when you strip them and a quick wax on sliding areas to lubricate them. Once inawhile it is easier to replace drawer bottoms than clean but this is a judgment call as you do the project. The drawer handles are not original and had been replaced sometime in the past. DESCRIPTION: This Antique Dresser is lower than usual. Not massive it weights under one hundred pounds, although very sturdy in its construction. Mesurements are 25 1/2" High. 45" Long and 21" Front to Back. The thick QuarterSaw Tiger Oak Veneer comes from a mature tree evident from the mature oak grain pattern. This antique lowboy dresser is said to be from period 1880 to 1910. The four top drawers are bow front and the large bottom one has a flat front with a bow board below. Being offered here is a vintage three drawer dresser with exquisite architectural lines and hardware. Please view pictures for details. We are not sure if the wood is walnut or oak. The overall height of this chest measures 66 ½" tall and overall 38 3/8" wide. The marble top measures 17 ½" deep and is 38 3/8" wide. The dresser is 17" deep and 36 ½" wide. The beveled glass on the mirror measures 29 ½" wide and 23 ½" tall. The wheels make this furniture stand 2" off of the floor. One of the knots in the wood on the backside has a whole in it. We did not notice any cracks in the wood on this chest. It has wonderfully old patina and the brass hardware is stunning on the burl finish of the dovetailed drawers. Antique "OAK" Chiffonier Dresser (Stamped 2340)
Up for sale is a"OAK" Antique Chiffonier. There is a painted on stamp on the back slat board that says: CHIFFONIER 2340. I tryed to research it but didn't have any luck as to it's origin. The Chiffonier looks like it is all original except for the clear coat that was wiped on the wood to preserve it. Overall the wood oak grain looks to be in very good condition for it's age. By no means is the Chiffonier perfect. But out of a scale of 1-10 it is a 7 in my opinion. I compared this Chiffonier to others that have sold on Ebay for over $500 and they weren't half as nice as this one. Completely Restored Oak Lowboy Antique Dresser w/ Beach Motif No Reserve
Up for auction a completely restored antique lowboy dresser. It has been refinished with beautiful medium oak finish. Color of stain minwax provential. It has a multi stage handrubbed finish that looks like a lovely waxed finish but has the wear resistance of a urethane finish. All the hardware has been buffed with jewelers rouge like a fine piece of jewelry. The drawers have been repaired, if necessary, to be working as good as they did over 100 years ago when this dresser was new. The dresser mirror is original, it will have some hazing, fogging, due to it's age. There is no need to worry about this lowboy having any odors like some old things, maybe musty, everything as been refinished and sealed completely inside and out. All the inside of the drawers, back, bottoms, ect. are finished as smoothe as the rest of the exterior of the ... morepiece. Back to the dresser itself. It has a beach, ocean, motif going on, there is a shell in the center of the crest above the mirror. The hangers or pieces of wood that hold the mirror upright have some type of birds local to a beach type setting, look simular to a peliquin to me. Two large drawers complete the base of the unit and wooden wheels are hidden under the skirt of the base for easy moving. Dimensions: overall height: app. 73 inches tall, 48 inches across, and 21 inches deep. It is typical to the latye victorian era and made from a lovely golden oak. The dresser would look well in any large property. It is tall and not too wide so would look well in a farmhouse or town house. The item is in two pieces making it easy to move around a property. The base stands on a square plinth supporting the main section where there are two large doors. These doors have one panel and are beautifully arched shaped to the top. As you can see the sides are panelled which is a quality feature. The top sits neatly upon the base and has two large glazed doors. These glazed doors are ... morebeautifully arched to the top and have the most wonderful lattice work upon them. Similarly the sides are panelled. Behind the doors there are plenty of shelves for storage. The height is 231cm. The width is 103cm and the depth is 59cm. It measures 35" inches wide x 17" inches deep x 29" inches tall to the dresser top. Then 54" inches tall to the tips of the towel rack. I can arrange shipping that is very cost effective!
