This fabulous early dresser is from Chicora Wood Plantation; an historical Rice plantation in South Carolina that was built in 1817. We believe this dresser to have its original rich finish. Original marble and mirror and the original early wood ring drawer pulls that are attached with wooden screws and blocks, and the original casters intact on the base. This high quality dresser has early dove-tailed construction on the dresser base top up under the marble and also on the drawer ends; and an old label with an original owners name handwritten with Chicora, SC written below on the base up under the marble. This dresser has a grand, majestic presence with incredible carvings and details; and amazingly left in its original state.you can almost feel the history in this piece when you touch it.incredible! This grand 19th century dresser measures 89 1/2 inches tall to the top of the fancy carved crest on the mirror. Height to the marble top is 35 inches, total width of 49 inches, total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs approximately 250 lbs, This dresser does dis-assemble into 5 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving( base, marble, mirror, two carved arm supports) The original oval mirror measures 38 1/2 inches high by 27 3/4 inches and is attached to the fancy carved arm supports with the original walnut finial screws and the mirror does pivot front to back to adjust for viewing. This Victorian dresser is in excellent antique condition for its age. The center top of the mirror is graced with a beautiful scrolled foliate crown with carved grape cluster center. This beautiful crown is removable for shipping purposes and sits on the gorgeous mirrored top which is adorned with elegant moulding. Many raised burled panels, rosette roundels, fancy leaf carved shoulders, four candle-stands(unusual as most Victorian dressers only have two) and elegant pierced carved grape and leaf carved ornamentations on the sides. This two piece bedroom suite is from the 1 86 0's in the Gothic style made famous by the"Lincoln Bed" It is a beautiful. Dark solid walnut with much graceful carving and paneled burl accents. A ll pieces are the same color-the variation in the photos is from the lighting and light coming in the w indow by the footboard-and the distance from my camera. This elegant set consists of the headboard. 7" tall, the footboard, curved) and the two footrails with original metal braces and side extensions. We have the bed set up as a queen. With a Q-metal frame, but you can see the slots on each side of the headboard where the side rail extensions fit. With the rails and footboard, it makes a full-size bed with full-length mattress and box springs. Here is an antique East Lake-style marble top dresser with 4 drawers from the late 1800s. Dark walnut solid wood. Drawer sides are dovetailed to fronts and backs. Eight drawer pulls all the same. Locks for each drawer but no key. Tan colored marble top. Sort of looks like ground up seashells or fossils. Cabinet measures 38-1/2 inches long, 18 inches deep and 30 inches tall including casters. Marble top measures 40-1/2 inches long, 19-1/2 inches wide and 13/16 inches thick. Total weight of cabinet and top is 120 lbs. Condition: Dresser is in very good condition. Wood joints are tight. There is a small wood repair showing in the last photo. About ½ inch diameter that is very dark near the center drawer lock.There is a small nick less than 1/8 inch deep in the edge of the marble top. All drawers slide well. This is a gorgeous solid black walnut with burl walnut applied trim Victorian age drop center dresser with a white and gray grain marble ... moretop that dates from the 1880s. It came in on a recent load. And was very clean. Someone probably refinished it a long time ago, and all we did was tighten it up, scuff it down and re-spray it to remove all the nicks and dings. It has a great look, a dark walnut stain finish, white and gray grain marble tops in really nice condition with minor stains and no cracks. It also has hand-cut dovetail drawers, big burl walnut panels on the front, and carved medallions in the center. It also has the old teardrop dresser knobs of ebony. The top of the dresser has what looks like the original mirror, along with the original candle shelves that was used to hold the oil lamps while gazing at your reflection. It also has all original carving and decoration on the back, and the top of the carved crest, the applied cutout carved trim, button medallions, applied burl panels and clamshell carved crest on top, all intact. I purchased this item 10 years ago in San Francisco from an antique dealer for $6,500. It's beautiful and in great condition. The marble top has a few visible cracks but has been refurbished- the marble piece is moved as one whole piece. The mirror swivels and detaches with screws in the back. On right side of dresser there is a minor crack that runs along the panel but this was treated/refurbished before I purchased it. This is a dynamite piece. Here we have a very Rare Empire Dresser for your consideration. This is a very fine Wishbone Mirrored Dresser with side wig curio cabinets. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. The center miror is stationary with side mirrors that are hinged& swing out almost 180 degrees. All mirrors have wide bevels. Excellent silvering without blemishes. The marble section is white with a thin grey lines from the stone. It is not composit or manufactured stone. It is clean, no chips, no repairs. The mirror rests on the rear of the top shelf which is over a marble galleried backsplash and opposing side sections. The flat top surface is clean& smooth white marble, all marble is matching and original to the piece. The base cabinet has 2 pull out drawers over 2 swing out doors which open to a large interior with a center horizontal shelf. The base has 1/4 round fluted columns which match the mirror and a center vertical with carving and a burled oval decoration. The pulls are brass, the locks work, a key is provided. Headboard 75” high. Footboard 30” high. Carved top, Complete with springs and good mattress. Beautiful finish. The bed features a high arched headboard with a carved center crest~please look closely at the pictures the carving is just fantastic. The posts on either side of the headboard are also solid walnut with beautiful scrolling. Shaped corner brackets adorn the bed rails. The foot board is also beautifully shaped with a burl panel. Measurements: Total height 75 inches at head. The foot is 30 inches Total width ... more52 inches Total length 80 inches long and 52 inches wide. This will accommodate a mattress and box spring which is included at no charge. Mattress size 76” long x 51” wide. They are in very good condition with no stains or tears. Fancy Oak& Chestnut Victorian Marble Top Dresser with Ornate Carved Wishbone Mirror circa 1880's Being offered for sale is this superb Victorian Fancy Oak& Chestnut highly carved marble top dresser that features a detailed. Very ornate carved wishbone mirror, fancy carved key escutcheons on the drawer fronts and the original wood pulls on the drawers with dove-tailed joinery on the drawer ends. This fine 19th century dresser measures 77 inches in height to the top of the carved crest on the mirror. Height to the marble at the front measures 33 3/4 inches, width measures 40 inches and depth front to back is 19 1/4 inches and this dresser weighs approximately 150 lbs. The actual mirror portion measures 24 inches high by 12 3/4 inches wide. This dresser does dis-assemble into 4 separate pieces for easier handling during shipping ... moreand moving. This dresser is solid and tight and the mirror portion rests sturdy and straight. The framed mirror does pivot front to back to adjust viewing. All the locks are intact on the drawers except the top left, but we do not have the key. The original beveled edge marble top is in beautiful antique condition with no chips or cracks. N ot really sure when this was made.lady who owned it said she knew it was in the family in early 1920's.it is absolutely beautiful and in excellent condition.the only"call" on the whole suite is the top of the drawer on the dresser on the left side has got a hairline crack. Other than that I couldn't find anything else worthy of mentioning.the bed is very stout.rails fit perfectly.only one key but it locks every drawer but one.probably a little WD40 would correct that.marble is in excellent shape.quiet sure it is not the original mirror but it is a very nice mirror.the bed is a 3/4 size even though a regular full size mattress has been used on it for the last 40 years.it was just a little wide for the boxsprings but they managed.Going to include the 3/4 box springs as it is very heavy and well made.nothing at all wrong ... morewith it.it is full of coil springs and really a lot better than the box springs you find today.all you would really need is a 3/4 mattress unless you should decide to just put a full size on it like the previous owner did.anyway, that is about all I know to tell you even though I know I am leaving something out.Now the main thing I want to get across to you lookers is that I want to sell it.not going to put it on here at some silly price and hope you will make a high offer.I am going to list both pieces at what I have seen others ask for just one of these pieces alone.Can't ship, so should you decide to buy, please be aware that you have got to come to good old west Tennessee in Jackson.about half way between memphis and Nashville.It is in good hands and safe and sound until you come or send for it.Will be glad to offer loading help should one person come alone.Any questions call Dicky at 731-697-9043.God Bless America again.Please.
