Turn of the Century English Style Dresser with Mirror w/ 5 Drawers in Solid Mahogany with Brass Pulls. The dovetail construction is similar to that of reproduction style furniture manufactured in America between the 1890's-1930's. This piece has a few types of European style detailing throughout. The dresser has 5 drawers. 3 smaller drawers on the top row and 2 large drawers below. The top 3 drawers have working locks but we received the dresser without the matching key. The brass pulls on all the drawers are Prince of Wales Ostrich Feather motifs used in English Style furniture in the 18th Century. The bottom drawer has a French Louis XV/Louis XVI style wood carvings. All the drawers are in excellent working condition(metal pin guides) with clean interiors. The bottom 2 drawers are the largest in size both adorned with the Prince ... moreof Wales brass pulls. Both in good working condition with clean interiors. The front legs are carved in the Edwardian Style with very little wear. And tapered legs in the rear. Side and top mahogany panels are in very good condition with very minor wear. The Louis XV style molding on the sides near the top are very similar to details used in English Style furniture in the 18th Century. The top of the mirror has a gallery style backing with an oval shaped beaded wood pattern and is finished in the center with another wood carved Prince of Wales Ostrich Feather motif. For the age this piece is in excellent condition with exquisite detailing. The dresser also offers lots of storage and will be a great piece to put in any bedroom. Beautiful piece. Just enough detail to elegant but not so much as to be gaudy. It has a wonderful hidden 7th drawer on the bottom. It measures 40 x 22 inches on the top and is 41 inches tall. It weighs about 155 lbs. This dresser was manufactured at the Grand Rapids Michigan factory where they produced furniture from 1875-1974. In the top left drawer is the inlayed Berkey and Gay logo pictured above. Under the bottom right drawer is the Model number stamped into the wood"3284 037G" Note the finish is cracked and has a rough matt like finish(see picture) There are a few minor scratches chips etc commensurate with it's age. Victorian Rococo style Flamed mahogany Bowfront dresser w/matching wall mirror
Victorian period Rococo style flamed mahogany or rosewood bow front commode/dresser drawers with matching wall mirror. The front is veneered flame mahogany with dovetail drawers with french style bronze or brass drawer pulls with great patina on and around the pulls. The drawer guides on the bottom of drawers are metal. The serpentine top looks to be solid mahogany or rosewood with the numbers 57 230 102 stamped into the back of the top. The cabinet is a 9 drawer unit with a hidden compartment above the center drawers. Hand carved designs exist above the outside drawers wrapping around the sides to the back. Hand carving exist on the front rounded corners and between the sets of drawers culminating to a different carving at the bottom matching the whorl feet. Commode/dresser chest has not been cleaned or refurbished in any way by me it does ... morehave a scratch on the side which I have pictured and the top has its patina to show its age. The measurements of the dresser/commode are 64" W x 22" D x 34" H. The matching wall mirror has Rococo hand carved pediment crest cornice at the top with a C scroll cornice missing on right side and on the left side someone has tried to nail the cornice back on this mirror needs some restoration on the carved pediments. Measurements of the mirror are 56" W x 45" H.

This fine 19th century dresser features its original glass drawer pulls. Early hand-cut dove-tailed ends on the drawers and powerful S scrolls that flank the base. The ogee framed mirror rests between the tall scroll top arm supports, we believe the mirror to be an older replacement and is nice and clear. The drop center base features smaller glove box drawers on each side with ogee drawer fronts and below additional storage is found in the four larger drawers below. Measurements: 78 1/2 inches tall to top of mirror 44 1/2 inches high to top of base sides 40 1/2 inches high to center of dresser base 45 1/2 ... moreinches wide 19 inches deep weighs approximately 145 lbs This American Empire dresser is solid and tight and has a beautiful presence. All the locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have the key. The interior of the drawers has been painted some time ago and the mirror frame and base does present with some mild veneer losses. Which I have tried to show in the pictures nothing major in my opinion for being approximately 170 years old and common in these period Empire pieces. However drawer is cracking inside, but does not effect use. Mirror is spotting on top. Please see pictures. Pictures do not do justice to this piece, a must have! Here is sum history on this furniture: 1915- 1931: The era between World War I and the Great Depression was Berkey& Gay's zenith of production. Upholstering was spun off to subsidiaries like Wallace Upholstery and Grand Rapids Upholstery. So Berkey& Gay concentrated on living room and bedroom suites. Although designs ran the gamut of freely translated European and American revival styles, most tended toward larger, heavier periods like Elizabethan, William and Mary, and American Empire. ... morePieces were well constructed. A variety of woods was used. Mostly dark mahoganies and walnuts, with occasional accents of lighter woods, painted decoration, or exotic materials like turquoise. These were further darkened by the application of stains wiped around edges and carvings, to give the appearance of age. One interesting novelty was the"Old Ironsides Table. of which only about 100 were produced. Its scalloped apron and block-turned legs and stretchers were adapted from an illustration in a Wallace Nutting book on American antiques.
